Field UI shouldn't be a hard dependency for this module. It's only required for initial configuration. Some sites remove extraneous module config such as views UI, field UI and such in production and having it as a hard dependency breaks that.

Actually I don't understand what you meant on #5 @el1_1el, since the module is only available for D8?

I've released this to the dev branch. Not sure what I was thinking last year, but kept expecting the module to be mostly deprecated by core which it was a few months ago so I've been neglecting this a bit

I'll likely release a final version compatible with d9 soonish so people dont need to convert their config to core for an upgrade and then go into maintenence only.
