Licenses and provenance
TORCS code, documentation and artwork have their own license terms. The manifests linked below record the licenses, credits and sources for material published on this website.
Website code and text
The website source and editorial text are distributed under the GNU General Public License version 2 (GPLv2).
The TORCS software
TORCS is distributed under GPLv2; individual source files specify whether later versions are also permitted. Official releases are available on the Download page.
Gameplay screenshots
Published gameplay screenshots were captured by Bernhard Wymann from TORCS 1.3.9 and are distributed under the Free Art License. Credits and source details are in the screenshot manifest.
TORCS logo and website branding
The website logo is a vector trace of the original TORCS logo by Jean-Christophe Durieu (skinr); the favicon adapts its wheel motif. Source history, credits and GPLv2 licensing are recorded in the branding manifest.
Track map imagery
Every top-down track map on the Tracks page was imported from a pinned TORCS source revision. Each carries an affirmative license status and full provenance recorded in the track asset manifest shipped with the site.
License terms are documented per track. Typically, the track XML is GPLv2 and the track artwork (3D models and textures) uses the Free Art License. Map-specific terms and third-party credits are recorded in the manifest.
Car models, renders and technical data
The cars on the Cars page use GPLv2-or-later for their XML definitions and the Free Art License for models and textures. The studio renders are derived from this artwork. Credits, license notices and data sources are in the car asset manifest.
Research and use references
The Research and Uses pages link to external work, which retains its own license. Inclusion documents TORCS use and does not imply endorsement.
