If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on Googlebook, they are officially on shelves and available for purchase! I know many of you are curious about how Googlebook actually fits into your daily routine. At the end of the day, Googlebook is an incredibly fast, highly-secure premium laptop that’s built on beautiful hardware from our partners at Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, and Acer. It does exactly what you expect your primary computer to do. What’s awesome about the experience is that it doesn’t treat your phone like a stranger. When you sit down, whatever app or task you had open on your Android phone is just right there on your desktop taskbar. No emailing files to yourself, no waiting on a sync, and no lag. It just works. We also wanted to build something you can actually rely on for the long haul, so we are offering 10 years of secure, automatic software updates. And with Gemini Intelligence built-in, it is designed to make your everyday laptop experience as helpful and seamless as possible. You can order yours online, or head into a local store to try one out today. 👉 Check it out here: googlebook.com If you want a quick look at what the experience is like, Dieter Bohn breaks it down in this video.

Switching between platforms should be easy and seamless, which is why Android 17 has a ground-up new transfer system that transfers even more of your stuff, wirelessly and without the need for a separate app. It works with Photos, contacts, sure, but also passwords, Wi-Fi credentials, and even eSIM. It's a big deal! Learn more about how it works and everything that transfers over in this Reddit post from Mishaal Rahman https://lnkd.in/gb87vMJK

The goal of Android has always been to bring the best of computing to everyone. For years, speech-to-text has made mobile communication effortless. But for many in the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community, sign language is their preferred way of communicating. Up until now, typing in English on a keyboard has still been the default requirement on smartphones. The new Pixel 11 series changes that. With sign-to-text in Gboard and Live Translate you can compose messages, search, or have casual, face-to-face conversations in real time in American Sign Language. Using your device’s front camera, the sign-to-text feature tracks upper-body, hand, and facial movements in real time. Then it sends a 2D map of your movements to the server, not your video, to be translated into English. Building this right meant co-designing directly with the Deaf community and our AI Sign Language Advisory Committee (AISLAC) from day one. This is a great example of using AI to solve real everyday challenges and making technology more accessible. It’s been incredible to see the early reactions over the past few days, from people trying it out at the Google Store to seeing the excitement from Deaf users and community members imagining what this future looks like. It’s still early days for this technology, and we’re committed to continuously improving it, expanding to more Android devices, and bringing it to more sign languages over time. Super proud of the teams across Android and Google DeepMind for their work here, and deeply grateful to our community partners who are guiding us every step of the way.
