Tanda Community Network’s Post

What a productive day we had! We were truly honoured to host Alejandro Mayoral Banos, PhD and Luis Augusto Nobre (He/Him) from Access Now at our offices in Kibera. The conversations were insightful, energising, and deeply relevant to our work and the realities of community-centred connectivity initiatives. We explored the critical role we play in addressing the after-access challenges facing grassroots communities, from cybersecurity threats and internet shutdowns to the growing risks of deepfakes, misinformation, and disinformation, and the important role that we play in building digital resilience, promoting trusted access to information, and strengthening local capacity to navigate emerging digital risks. Beyond the discussions, we showcase our work and the impact Tanda is creating within the community through meaningful connectivity, digital trainings, and local empowerment. Moments like these remind us that building a more inclusive, safer, and resilient digital future requires collaboration, shared learning, and community-driven solutions.  Thank you, Alejandro and Luis, for visiting and engaging so openly with our team and the work on the ground.
