Some games aren’t outdated. They were just waiting for their comeback. 🐿️🪽 Freefall Racers first took flight on Xbox Kinect in 2013. More than a decade later, we’ve reimagined it with Smoking Gun Interactive Inc. for a new generation of families on Nex Playground. Players spread their arms, lean into every turn and use their whole bodies to steer a crew of flying squirrels through eight colorful courses. The Nex version also introduces smoother controls, Flight School, local two-player racing and an expanded progression system. Yes, it’s as fun as it sounds. 😉 But it's about more than flying squirrels. It's a comeback story about how great motion-first ideas can find new life through modern technology, reach new family audiences and become part of a growing active-play catalog. Freefall Racers is available now exclusively on Nex Playground with Play Pass. 🏁 [Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/gs5sWRwF] #GameDevelopment #NexPlayground

I had to give myself a reality check on the state of our port of Diddy Kong Racing from Nintendo 64 to the Sega Dreamcast... So here it is: original DKR for N64 vs our ported DKR for DC, direct comparison with FPS counters enabled. The truth is that I've been staring at the FPS meter all weekend, obsessing over every little dip, vectorizing, loop unrolling, and optimizing every little expensive-looking loop I can see in the codebase to win back 0.1FPS at a time... totally losing sight of what the basis for comparison even was from the original... So how long has it been since you've played the original on N64? I'm not talking about via emulation with higher FPS and fancy upscaling. I'm talking about directly, on an actual, physical Nintendo 64. Full disclosure... prolly been half a decade now, for me! Anyway, the devs behind the decomp were kind enough to share with me some of their performance and timing analysis captures... so I figured we'd take a step back and have a little fun! I had no idea it was running at only 20FPS tops, capped at 15FPS for the WizPig races!? I just remember pissing myself at having never seen a game look that good or realistic in my entire life back in 1997 when DKR came out for the N64... All I know is I want to do this game justice... but the truth is that even though we're still cooking, already the Dreamcast runs consistently at 10FPS higher and runs at 4x the screen resolution with progressive scan output... What do you guys think? How's our port comparing? 🤔 #gamedev #retrocomputing #embeddedsystems #graphics #retrogaming

Today's the day Endless Ragnarok takes to the skies! Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok is officially out on PS5, PS4, PC (Steam) and, for the very first time, Nintendo Switch 2. It's been an absolute pleasure working on the PR campaign for this one across the UK, Australia and Europe, and seeing it all come together on launch day never gets old. A bit of context for anyone who isn't already a skyfarer: the original Relink launched in 2024 to real critical acclaim and went on to sell over 2 million units, no small feat for an action RPG. Cygames could easily have rested on that success. Instead, they've gone bigger, bringing an entirely new story arc, fresh characters, expanded co-op and – for the first time ever – a home on Nintendo Switch 2, opening the doors to a whole new audience of skyfarers. Launch days like this always seem to creep up, but this campaign built momentum in careful stages over the past few months. Cygames hosted a closed beta to get core feedback flowing early around the new crossplay functionality and new character Beatrix, giving media the first chance to go hands-on and produce impressions of the Nintendo Switch 2 version. This was followed by an open beta, which reached a much wider audience, giving more players hands-on access and offering media another opportunity to explore a larger portion of Endless Ragnarok across all platforms. In the lead-up to launch, a run of media previews then gave the press space to properly experience what Cygames had built. Each stage was designed to build excitement while helping educate both new players and returning fans on everything Endless Ragnarok has to offer. You may ask how all this new content fares with critics. Well, the reviews are backing it up: Endless Ragnarok is currently sitting at 83 on Metacritic, proof that the extra ambition has paid off. Massive congratulations to everyone at our partner Cygames and the wider teams who poured their energy into this release. Whether you're a longtime Granblue fan or jumping in for the first time on Switch 2, there's never been a better moment to dive in. Here's to endless skies ahead. #GamingPR #GameLaunch #PRLaunch #PRCampaign

If you grew up in the 90s, you know exactly what I mean when I talk about the magic of hearing a 486 PC boot up. When I was prototyping my new game, Pandamonium Street, my mind immediately drifted back to the hours I spent glued to a CRT monitor. I was channeling the pure, adrenaline-fueled joy of games like Stunts, the high-stakes tension of Spy Hunter, and the relentless speed and iconic soundtracks of F1 Race and Top Gear. I wanted to recapture that specific flavor of retro racing—where the roads felt fast, the turns felt sharp, and the gameplay was just pure fun. The demo is still very far from where I ultimately want it to be, but every great project needs a starting line. 🏁 I’ve put together a quick video snippet of where the game stands today. If you have a soft spot for retro arcade racers, I’d love for you to take it for a spin and let me know what you think. The link to the early web demo is down in the comments! 👇 #gamedev #retrocomputing #retrogaming #indiegames #dosgaming #arcade @stunts @topgear

From the streets of Japan to a mission for MI6: in June, two titles earned game Sales Awards for their sales in Germany. "Forza Horizon 6" from Playground Games and XBOX/Xbox Game Studios Publishing reaches Platinum with more than 200,000 copies sold, one month after taking Gold. The open-world racer takes players across the largest map in the series so far, a stylised open-world Japan with more than 550 cars to collect. "007 First Light" from IO Interactive earns Gold for more than 100,000 copies sold. The action-adventure tells the origin story of a young James Bond, sending players into the British secret service with the gadgets and spycraft the role is known for. Congratulations to both studios and their teams.
