Reports To: CEO
Beauty 4U is a retail chain with over a dozen locations across the DMV, currently at a pivotal inflection point. We are moving beyond the traditional beauty supply model to reimagine the entire consumer experience. Our vision is to become the global authority for hair and all things beauty. We are looking for a seasoned ecommerce manager who brings a proven track record of retail success to help us redefine the beauty supply experience for the modern consumer.
We are seeking an entrepreneurial, commercial powerhouse to serve as our Senior Ecommerce Manager. This is a foundational, high-impact role for a digital leader who possesses a true "ownership mentality" and thrives on the challenge of building a channel from scratch.
We are preparing to officially launch our brand-new ecommerce destination. Your immediate mission is to partner with the CEO to successfully steer this platform from pre-launch development to a live, seamless digital flagship. Post-launch, you will fully own the digital business, managing day-to-day operations, optimization, and scaling.
Make no mistake: while building a beautiful user experience is critical, hitting and exceeding our online revenue targets is Priority #1. You must be a growth-minded, sales-driven leader who looks at data daily to find revenue opportunities and aggressively converts digital traffic into profitable transactions.
Please note: This job description outlines the core responsibilities of the role, but as a foundational hire launching a new platform, the ideal candidate must be highly adaptable, open to wearing multiple hats, and possess a "do whatever it takes" attitude to get the job done.
- Revenue Generation & Commercial Optimization (Priority #1): Own the digital P&L. Design and execute trading strategies, product bundles, cross-selling initiatives, and promotional calendars explicitly designed to maximize Average Order Value (AOV), conversion rates, and total digital revenue.
- Integrated Product & Visual Merchandising: Take full responsibility for both the analytics and the aesthetics of our online catalog. You will regularly review product sales data to deeply understand which items are top sellers, ensuring we always have the right product mix available online. At the same time, you will own the visual merchandising of the site—strategically placing products, curating collections, and structuring layouts to elevate the aesthetic and optimize user discovery.
- Promotional Execution & Reactive Trading: Partner closely with the Marketing Director to maximize sales during key promotional periods (e.g., holidays, seasonal launches). You must be highly agile and reactive—when data shows a gap in our revenue targets, you can deploy immediate, real-time digital tactics (flash sales, cart abandonment strategies, homepage updates) to drive traffic and close the gap.
- Product Management & Conversion-Focused Tech Strategy: Identify, prioritize, and implement new site features, plug-ins, and tech updates that directly enhance the user experience (UX) and increase conversion rates (e.g., loyalty program tracking, enhanced product search tools, optimized checkout options).
- Financial Forecasting & Strategy Support: Partner directly with the CEO and Finance team to build and refine revenue projections and sales forecasts. Use historical trends, traffic data, and campaign plans to provide reliable forward-looking metrics that support critical executive business decisions.
- Content Ownership & Promotional Alignment: Fully own all ecommerce content. Guarantee that all brand campaigns, digital assets, and promotional events are translated onto the site accurately, on time, and completely brand-aligned.
- Weekly Performance Reporting: Establish a rigorous reporting cadence. Track, prepare, and deliver comprehensive weekly performance reports to leadership, breaking down traffic, conversion funnels, revenue metrics, and clear next-step optimizations.
- Warehouse Logistics & Fulfillment Integration: Partner directly with our warehouse operations team to architect and supervise the order fulfillment pipeline. Ensure the warehouse is operationally equipped to handle, pack, and ship online orders efficiently, establishing clear workflows to meet top-tier retail delivery standards.
- E-Commerce Customer Service: Take full ownership of the digital customer service experience. Establish protocols for handling online returns, exchanges, tracking inquiries, and product questions, ensuring our digital guests receive premium, timely support that matches our prestige brand.
- Location: Must be based in the DC area.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in Marketing, Business, E-commerce, or a related field).
- Experience: Minimum of 6–8 years of progressive ecommerce experience, with a proven track record of directly managing and scaling a direct-to-consumer (DTC) retail ecommerce business.
- Technical, Content & Merchandising Expertise: Deep familiarity with modern ecommerce architecture (Shopify Plus). Must have a strong background in implementing e-commerce site features and a proven ability to balance quantitative product analysis (tracking top sellers) with qualitative visual merchandising.
- Industry Experience: Significant experience in the hair, beauty, fashion, or premium specialty retail space is highly preferred.
- Mindset: You must think like an owner. You need to be a true go-getter, hard worker, and highly resilient builder with a definitive "make it happen" attitude. This role requires absolute grit—someone who welcomes the opportunity to wear multiple hats in an entrepreneurial environment and takes personal accountability for the revenue line.
- Analytical Skills: Strongly numbers-driven. You must have the proven ability to turn weekly digital data points into actionable commercial growth plans and forecasting.
- Leadership Style: You are a highly collaborative team player who is kind and polite. We maintain a supportive, positive culture across all departments and expect our leaders to lead by example.
