How do I know teachers are leading this movement? At Next Gen Personal Finance FinCamp in New York City today, I met a librarian who learned her library was about to become the after-school home for students serving detention. Her solution: let me teach them about money. A year later, she's teaching two sections of personal finance. I have a hunch too many students had been requesting detention. Then there were the three teachers who traveled from Mexico to ask us to bring a FinCamp to Arizona next year. They attended one seven years ago and wanted to experience it again. Seven years! Arizona here we come in 2027! More than 70 teachers gave up a summer day to join and our own Yanely Espinal brought the passion and energy to her hometown crowd like only she can. The teachers loved the panel discussion with four leading Dow Jones journalists: Genna Contino (MarketWatch), Jacob Sonenshine (Barron's), Gunjan Banerji (The Wall Street Journal) and Oyin Adedoyin (The Wall Street Journal). The conversation ranged from the blurring line between investing and gambling, to why learning from failure is the entrepreneur's edge, a new "buy now, pay maybe" scheme, tips for negotiating college financial aid, and the enormous amount of work behind a single Barron's stock pick. This panel was just a preview. Stay tuned this week for some exciting news about how we're bringing Dow Jones journalism into high school classrooms across America. Teachers left with stories, insights, resources and more confidence to teach their students about investing. To every educator who showed up today: THANK YOU for your dedication and for inspiring us!
