HUA HIN NIGHT MARKET - PART TWO

When you are at the night market, do not just walk along the stalls on the main street. There are still smaller roads and alleys which accommodate more stalls and shops and stalls selling more items and offering services to the tourists.

I was glad I found this street performers playing music on their Thai traditional musical instruments. The small girl was still in her school uniform.

There was some kind of art street with pictures painted on sections of walls.

I thought the boy was selling some sort of an item used for prayer, but I saw it on a dashboard of a car. It was pandanus leaves which could naturally be used as natural air freshener.

It looked like just a normal night market but there was this attraction that was tucked away in one corner. Or perhaps, people were too busy shopping and observing other things, they might miss it.

And here is something for you to enjoy, from Hua Hin, Adele's "Rolling in the Deep".

XIMEN - WHERE THE STREETS COME ALIVE AT NIGHT [PART 1]

This is the place which is just nearby the hotel where I was staying - a 5-minute walk would get me there. One interesting fact about the history of Taiwan is that the island has been under the Japanese occupation for about 50 years so there is always a Japanese influence that could be found there. Ximen is synonymous to the city of Shibuya in Tokyo, where the streets are lighted up by neon lights and gigantic TV screens at night and people flock this pedestrian area.

People from all walks of life could be found here, locals and foreigners alike. There are rows of shops and stalls selling Taiwanese products as well as street food. Other than that, people get to watch free entertainment as there are a few street performers doing their shows in the open.

This elderly couple I think was getting donation from the public for the animals, i.e. dogs and cats, under their care. Or perhaps, they were looking for people who were interested to adopt these animals as pets. They spoke in Chinese, so I just made my own assumption.

THE LANDMINE VICTIMS PERFORMING ON THE STREET

Even after the wars were over, Cambodia was not a safe place for its people. One major reason, landmines were still planted almost everywhere. Innocent people either died of were crippled all their lives.  According to Wikipedia, in 2013, 111 Cambodians became victims to the landmines explosions - 22 people dead and 89 injured.

I saw this group of street musicians  whom I believed were the victims of the landmines somewhere near the entrance of Ta Phrohm. If you watch the video carefully, you could see at least three of them had their feet amputated, and someone has lost both his hands.

Despite their disabilities, there were there to work by entertaining passers-by with traditional Cambodian music. I just hope people are generous enough to contribute when they see them.

VIDEO - ANGKLUNG PERFORMANCE AT TANGKUBAN PERAHU

If I were to migrate to Bandung, this would be the only reason for doing so.

I was enjoying myself, watching and listening to a street performer playing angklung at Tangkuban Parahu. Among the songs played are "Bengawan Solo", "Suriram" and "Burung Kakaktua".

When can I play angklung again? :(
