The Wilde Men #3

Lynx's Ruin

Rate this book
Sasha

I'm prey. Weak little helpless prey. At least, that's what I let the wild men in Wilde's End think. I haven't trusted them one bit since I've been stranded here, and after Lynx tries to kill me, I know my instincts were correct.

At least until I'm forced to spend more time with the machete-wielding animal. He's got a past he won't talk about, and a protective streak that anyone else would find suffocating.

Anyone but me.

And when he extends that protection to me, it feels better than I expect it to.

I still want out of The End, but maybe I can have a little fun first.

Lynx

I'm a predator. When I was young, I promised myself that no one would ever get past my defenses again. People call me scary and unhinged, but they can think what they like so long as my town is safe.

The influx of outsiders to Wilde's End already had me on edge, and then in stumbles Sasha. A small, weak, walking tragedy. I have no idea how he's survived this long, but something about him calls to me. Everything from his pretty eyes to the way he bites back at me and fights battles he has no chance of winning.

I'd assumed he was prey.

But the more I push, the more I feel like I'm the one being hunted.

My whole purpose is to protect Wilde’s End. Without that, I’m worthless.

Lynx, the self-appointed town protector, meets his match with Sasha, the weakest newcomer to Wilde's End. To Lynx, Sasha is weak and defenceless- a rabbit. Prey. Completely unaware of his surroundings, and all the predators who would like to take a bite out of Sasha's tender rabbit hide. It bothers Lynx to his core that Sasha can't defend himself.
Surely it has to be an actual effort to be so unaware. Everything from his creamy skin to his flushed cheeks to those bright eyes that are bigger than any human needs them to be broadcasts vulnerability. Doesn’t he understand how dangerous that is? How easily he could catch the wrong man’s interest?

To Lynx, the only benefit he offers to his fellow Wenders is that he keeps them safe. He's constantly vigilant to any potential threat- and he includes outsider Sasha on that list. What Lynx doesn't realize is that the only Wender Sasha wants to bring to his knees is Lynx. Sasha doesn't view himself as weak at all. He knows he's not a physically intimidating man. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have other weapons at his disposal. He burrow under Lynx's defences before Lynx knows what happened, and teaches him that having physical strength and weapons training aren't the only ways to protect yourself.
There’s nothing like reeling a man like him in and having him on his knees. Having him worship you …

Lynx is irresistible to Sasha, who has a thing for dangerous and powerful men. He wants to seduce him once as a sort of farewell to the types of bad decisions he wants to leave behind. When he gets out of the End and starts a new life in Portland, he tells himself he'll stay away from men like Lynx. Sasha knows how powerful he can be when he sets his mind to it. He knows how to mold himself into the type of man his partner wants. But for a man who just wants a place to rest and call home, how many times can he reinvent himself into being what someone else wants?
I set my hand between his on the rail and look up at him through my lashes. My voice comes out whisper soft. “For the right person, there’s strength in being weak.”

Both men have tragic backstories that I won't get into for spoiler reasons, but their armour is hard-earned in both cases. Lynx literally feels worthless if he can't protect those who he loves. Not that he'll admit to loving anyone- love is another unacceptable weakness that he can't tolerate in himself. He won't even admit that he has a pet, because it would be yet another vulnerability. Sasha has been betrayed by those who he thought loved him, and just wants to be seen and appreciated for who he is. He's lost hope that he's worthy of love, and is ready to settle for a mundane life with a mundane partner. But first, he wants to prove to Lynx that he's no frightened rabbit.
Attraction is useless and pointless and completely unwanted. It leads to vulnerability and giving up control. I avoid attraction at all costs—man or woman; it doesn’t matter—and I’ve never, ever felt it for someone so fucking incapable. But I’m not fighting it anywhere near as much as I should be.

This series gets Wilder and Wilder (pun intended) with each new couple. I guess it makes sense, because who moves to the middle of nowhere to get away from society if they fit into conventional society and enjoy being a part of it? This book isn't really about anything other than Lynx and Sasha getting to know each other while Sasha works to get his car fixed so he can get out of the End. I'm kind of in awe of Saxon's character work- the building relationship between Sasha and Lynx kept me invested and entertained the entire way through. While neither character is one that I'd normally root for, I really appreciated the layers to their characters, and the way they developed throughout the story. The way the plot details were woven together shows a lot of skill. I thought Saxon did an amazing job with this one. I think I notice those details more when I'm not as swept up in the love story. I know it's shallow, but Lynx especially is just such a strange and unattractive man. Sasha ignores all the red flags and growling and chooses to bare his throat and curl up amongst Lynx's teeth and claws. Together they learn that softness doesn't mean weakness, and love doesn't mean a catastrophic loss of control. There's a lot of Lynx's backstory that we don't get, but I know there's only so much space to delve into the past. Weirdos deserve happy endings too, and I'm glad I read their story.
“All this time, I thought I was hunting you,” I say with a wry smile.
He leans in and gives me a slow kiss. “Baby, you never stood a chance.”

Saxon, I beg you- let Rooney get these men some lube!! 💦😓

If you like creepy guys with machetes, this might be for you

I don’t think this was the book for me. I actually had an email draft ready for the ARC team because I was preparing to DNF, but I wasn’t hating it, and I wanted to know what was going to happen, so I kept reading.

Lynx’s Ruin is book 3 in the Wilde Men series. We have predator x prey, a superstitious man with a lot of knives, and a lace-panties-wearing man with questionable survival instincts who is prey by default. You know, the usual 😂

Lynx’s inner monologues were the highlight for me.

Because if we hadn’t been given access to his inner thoughts I would have hightailed it out of this book. His behavior sometimes read as so cartoonish that I honestly wondered he had some type of cognitive impairment.

But then you get glimpses of the person underneath all that, and he's a man who blocks out unpleasant memories when someone asks him how he doesn’t know how to hug. He claims to hate everyone but would probably raise hell if anything happened to the people he’s decided to protect.

He has a lot of unresolved trauma, and I liked seeing Sasha slowly find his way through those walls. It just happened too quickly, imo.

Sasha was ok, I guess. He’s a young man with a specific kink that got him into trouble.

The book also ventures into maybe dark romance territory with the rough play, blood, threats, and general unsettling behavior. Not for me, but I’m sure it has its audience.

BUT THEN WE GET TO THE EPILOGUE...

SAXON, YOU CHEEKY LITTLE BUG!

“All this time, I thought I was hunting you.”
“Baby, you never stood a chance.”

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA 🫨🫨🫨

Listen. Ownership when written well can be SUCH a turn-on. All it took to make me reconsider my feelings about the book was one delicious epilogue.

So, this wasn’t a favorite for me, but if predator x prey, rough play, and a creepy forest-dwelling man with an emotional connection to a machete are your thing, you might have a good time with this one.

Thank you to Saxon James and Foreword PR & Marketing for the advance reader copy and the opportunity to review.

Lynx’s Ruin by Saxon James drops us back into Wilde’s End with a romance that starts as a game of cat and mouse, and it gradually becomes harder to tell who is the cat and who is the mouse. Lynx is strange, superstitious, intimidating, unexpectedly nurturing, and easily one of the most unusual characters I have read in a while. Sasha, meanwhile, looks vulnerable at first but very quickly proves that appearances aren't what they seem...

Lynx’s view of the world is fascinating. He is deeply protective of the End, trains the younger members of the community, his “cubs,” grows food, provides for people, and somehow still manages to give off a very credible knife-wielding-murderer vibe. 🤣 His ideas about control, survival, love, strength, and trust are shaped by things he does not want to examine too closely, and Saxon James does a nice job of letting that history emerge gradually rather than dropping it into the story all at once. Sasha has his own baggage too, and I liked watching him slowly challenge some of Lynx’s assumptions about what strength actually looks like.

The chemistry between them builds naturally out of that tension. The cat-and-mouse dynamic slides very neatly into primal play, and whew, that chase scene. 🔥🥵 It is intense, exciting, and somehow manages to end on a surprisingly sweet note. I also really liked the attention to consent and aftercare, because it fits Lynx’s character in a way that makes the whole scene feel like more than just spice. And yes, Sasha’s lace panties deserve an honorary mention. They are doing important work here. 😂

What kept the book from ever feeling too heavy was the balance between the darker material and the humor, community, and tenderness around it. There is some tension surrounding Sasha’s past, but it never drags on too long, and the cubs are adorable. It was also fun seeing Wilde, Booker, and some of the familiar faces from earlier books again. Through all of that, the emotional center stayed pretty clear: Lynx is learning that love does not necessarily mean destruction, while Sasha is learning that he is actually worth wanting.

This ended up being a really satisfying addition to the series for me. The primal-play element grows directly out of the relationship rather than feeling tacked on, Lynx remains wonderfully weird from beginning to end, and the HEA feels earned without sanding off all the sharp edges that make these two interesting. ❤️

I think this is the first time where I just haven't really liked either MC in a Saxon James book! I can't even really put my finger on exactly why, but I just didn't connect to Lynx or Sasha through their story.

I did really enjoy the wilderness setting though and I still think I would love to live in the almost isolation of Wilde's End. The community feel was there again and I loved seeing the 'cubs' and their training. We also got to know a bit more about Booker, and Rooney was around quite a few times, but other than that it felt very focused on just Lynx and Sasha.

There were also questions I had about Lynx and his belief system too that I don't feel like they were answered, or if they were I totally missed it. Where did his belief in the supernatural actually come from? Where did he learn everything he was doing to protect the town? There was brief mention of his mum and what had happened to his family, but I wanted to know where Lynx had been between the age of 9 and when he found the End. I just felt like I didn't know enough about him to connect to him and I didn't understand why he was the way he was.

Sasha was also pretty much a mystery. We learn his bad habits when it comes to men, and that he uses his body to get what he wants, but other than that I felt like I didn't really know who he was. I did like how he fit into the community at the end, but again, I just wanted to know more about him so I could understand him better.

I'm curious for Booker and Foley though, and how their relationship is going to play out. And I really like Rooney, even though we've barely gotten anything of him so far, so I'm looking forward to his story too.

This is a difficult one for me to review because I don't want to give too much away but also because for a while, I'm not sure I was actually enjoying it!

However!

After a bit of a shaky start for both Sasha and me, I found myself getting thoroughly invested in seeing how the relationship between him and resident loner (even more so than the rest of Wilde's End) Lynx would go.

I was also deeply interested in finding out how Lynx ended up in the End and just what trauma had caused him to close himself off against having any feelings. Well, I got half of that information, towards the end of the book, after Sasha had used his own manipulative methods of attraction and "playing the victim" to get Lynx hooked.

Not all was revealed though, there's still big gaps in his past which, ultimately, I don't think mattered so much because what you do find out gives plenty of explanation for why he is as he is.

Otherwise, this was a study in how to write a narrative that starts off as if it's going to be one thing - prey v predator - but quickly switches into the complete opposite as Sasha showed how he wasn't defenceless at all.

It's slow burn, and rightly so, but when things finally do break, it's explosive and quite delicious. I loved seeing Lynx learning he could be vulnerable without risking the safety of Wilde's End, I loved seeing Sasha realise he didn't have to find his thrills with abusive men.

Both of them bring out the good - and the unhinged in the best way - in each other and, as they get more intwined with each other, it brings a greater sense of belonging for them in their new future.

Next up is Booker and Foley and that one I'm very much both fascinated and terrified at the thought of! Saxon's really been bringing a whole different ballgame to this Wilde's End series from her more usual sporty and lighter-hearted romances and I'm down for it.

#ARC kindly received from the author via Foreword PR, I am voluntarily leaving a review.

First book I’ve read in under 24 hours in awhile. I inhaled this. The chemistry between Lynx and Sasha was undeniable and off the charts. This is the best book in the series so far. I can’t imagine Booker and Foley topping it but we will see.

“Love. It’s a horrible emotion. Turns you into a useless, pathetic, pining piece of waste. And I never want it to go away.”

Lynx’s Ruin is the third book in Saxon James’ The Wilde Men series and this time we finally get Lynx and Sasha’s story.

Both of these men have a dark backstory and I liked the way their pasts explain so much about who they are and how they behave. Their relationship is definitely a slow burn, with plenty of distrust and reluctance to commit and admit their feelings, as they gradually find their way towards each other.

I enjoyed the story overall, but I never quite connected completely with Lynx and Sasha enough to be wholly invested in their relationship. There’s still plenty we don’t know about what’s happening in Wilde’s End and the overarching storyline, so I’m intrigued to see where the series goes next.

An enjoyable addition to the series!

What To Expect:

🖤 MM romance
🖤 Slow burn
🖤 Forced proximity
🖤 Dark themes
🖤 Hurt/comfort
🖤 Distrust to lovers
🖤 Protective MC
🖤 Spicy times
🖤 HEA

"Love is a destructive, impossible-to-contain emotion. It’s pain and terror and ignorance all wrapped up to be this bright, beautiful emotion. Love is the most dangerous thing in the world, and I never want to feel it again."

Like anyone who has read the previous two books in the Wilde Men series, I could not wait to read Lynx's story and it did not disappoint.

I loved both Lynx and Sasha. This was described as prey x predator but who really played which part is perhaps not what we imagined! Lynx may be the one wielding the knife but Sasha is definitely the hunter.

Both MCs have complicated pasts that we get fed in small chunks throughout rather than given as a whole as they slowly open up to each other. I absolutely loved learning about Lynx's beliefs and superstitions and how he thinks Sasha cast a spell on him. We get the funniest dialogue between Lynx and Wilde as our MC tries to explain his feelings.

Like many other reviewers, it is only fair to mention our third MC - Bob the Bobcat. As with Lynx, we knew there was a loving soul underneath that gruff exterior and how his relationship with Sasha blossoms is almost as wonderful as watching the love develop between the two human MCs.

This is a series that just keeps getting better and I am looking forward to the next installment.

I LOVE a grumpy, mean MC who falls for the one person who makes him soft and mushy, and that is exactly what we got with Lynx. I was absolutely living for his relationship with Sasha! There is just something so satisfying about watching a hard, grouchy, seemingly impossible-to-like man meet the one person who can completely disarm him—and that is exactly what happened when Sasha came to Wilde’s End.

If you remember from Ziggy’s book, Sasha showed up in Wilde’s End after his car crashed. He was squatting, stealing to survive, and generally keeping to himself until they finally caught him. The solution? He would work off his debts by working for Lynx in the fields harvesting vegetables while they also helped him get his car fixed.

I absolutely loved Sasha. He was a survivor who had been running from an awful ex-boyfriend, because he had proof of a crime that he committed. He was hoping to make it to Portland to disappear when his car broke down in Wilde’s end. Beneath his bratty attitude and snark, all Sasha really wanted was for someone to choose him. He had a history of choosing the wrong people, so at first, he thinks that’s exactly why he’s attracted to Lynx. It starts out as a bit of a game for him… until, of course, it becomes so much more.

And Lynx? Sasha completely throws him off his game. Lynx thrives on control, routine, and knowing exactly what to expect, and Sasha changes EVERYTHING. He feels this overwhelming need to protect Sasha, while Sasha awakens desires Lynx thought were long dead.

These two just fit together so well. Sasha somehow understands exactly what Lynx needs, and I loved watching Lynx slowly soften and open up with him. There is something so satisfying about seeing this gruff, intimidating man turn into an absolute softie for Sasha. And watching him with his cubs? 🥹 MY HEART. I loved getting to see that softer side of him.
And the primal play?! 🔥 SO. MUCH. FUN. I definitely wasn’t mad about it!

I also really enjoyed the side plot involving Antonio. It added another layer to the story and kept things moving so the book wasn’t solely focused on the romance. I thought the relationship development, character growth, and plot all worked really well together, and the pacing was spot-on. I was intrigued the entire time—completely invested in the suspense while also swooning over the way Lynx was falling harder and harder for Sasha.

And Bob the bobcat?! Well he stole the show. IYKYK. 😉😸

If you love unique MCs, grumpy/sunshine, a strong side plot, and a gruff, intimidating MC who is soft ONLY for his man, you definitely need to add this one to your TBR!

Tropes:
• Grumpy/sunshine
• Gruff MC who is soft for his man
• Forced proximity
• Found family
• Hurt/comfort
• Protector MC
• Opposites attract
• Primal play
• Survival/overcoming trauma
• HEA

Lynx has had me intrigued since his very first appearance and I was so excited to get inside his head and watch him unravel in Sasha’s presence!

Lynx is one of those characters who is made up of so many layers. On the outside he’s this terrifying, protector or Wildes End with no feelings, but he also teaches the kids how to protect themselves, and makes sure everyone feels safe, and finally feels seen and loved in Sasha’s presence. I just loved him so much, the internal conflict with his feelings and the journey he goes on was so interesting to read about.

Sasha is a wonderful character, easily one of my favourite so far. I really enjoyed him showing Lynx that physical strength isn’t the only way to protect yourself, he had that man wrapped around his little finger before Lynx could even blink!! Despite the past he’s had to endure, he’s such a joyful character and I couldn’t stop smiling at how he was constantly on Lynx’s nerves😅

I loved that these two completed matched each others freaks - absolutely no notes in that department, they were scorching🔥

Also, LOVED the little teases of Booker and Foley, I’m so excited to get to properly meet those little freaks!!🥰 (said lovingly ofc)

Stars = ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Attraction is useless and pointless and completely unwanted. It leads to vulnerability and giving up control. I avoid attraction at all costs--man or woman; it doesn't matter--and I've never, ever felt it for someone so f*cking incapable.
But I'm not fighting it anywhere near as much as I should be."

I already knew that I would love Lynx and Sasha and I was right! These 2 are the definition of grumpy/sunshine and absolutely perfect. What starts out as annoyance and an inconvenience, slowly morphs into a need for each other that only they understand. Lynx might not know how to love, but Sasha knows just how to bring out those....primal....desires. *insert giggles here*
Lynx and Sasha might not want to trust each other, but the universe doesn't always give us that choice. I just wanted to jump into the book and give Lynx a giant hug along with Sasha! To me, Lynx is like a grilled cheese. Crispy on the outside, but gooey on the inside (even if he will never admit it). He loves in the only way he knows how, which is protecting the people of the end and teaching the cubs (aka the children) how to protect themselves and others.

It's going to be hard to pick a favorite couple in the end because I love them all for different reasons! I am now even more excited for Booker and Foley!

I'm bummed this book wasn't for me. I was excited to be back in Wilde's End, and I was so ready for Lynx and Sasha's story, but it just wasn't it.

The writing was good, as always with Saxon James, but the story felt a little... rushed? dare I say? I don't know, there were too many unanswered questions for my liking. Like, why does Lynx believe in all the crazy things he believes in? How did he end up in Wilde's End? How old was he? What happened to him after what happens to his family? I mean, I really wanted to have a closer look inside his head, if that makes sense. I feel like we don't really know him. I think he could've been such a great freaking character...

As for Sasha, well... I really didn't like him. He felt a little flat to me, and same here, in the end, we still don't really know him...
This story lacks depth, imo.
My favorite character was Bob, obviously. 😻😻😻

Even though I didn't really enjoy this one, I'm still grateful I got to ARC read it. 🖤

“You’re Lynx. And that’s more than enough for me.”

The more books that I read about the Wenders, the more I realize that we're barely scratching the surface on who these characters are and what brought them to Wilde's End. Lynx has always been this aloof, mysterious, sometimes scary guy. When we find out just how big his heart is and all the pain he's been through, it really broke my heart. He really needed someone as soft as Sasha to break him out of his routine and to embrace who he truly is.

"I’m tired of running. All I want is somewhere to call home."

There are so many things I loved about this book. From Lynx and Sasha's predator x prey dynamic to Sasha's unlikely friendship with Booker to Lynx's relationship with his cubs. The last one in particular is probably my favorite part of the whole book. I absolutely love the fact that this scary, machete wielding man is really just a squishy marshmallow for the people he deems as his and though he might deny it, all the Wenders fall in that category. And I definitely can't forget about Bob!! He's the sweetest little kitty cat and I love his bond with Lynx and Sasha. They made me smile so much and I just adored all three of them.

“I need you. I need to know where you are and keep you close. I’m only sane when I know that you’re safe.”

Lynx and Sasha both have emotional wounds that show up in different ways. Sasha really needs someone who can shower him with that over-the-top, obsessive love and Lynx needs the softness and vulnerability that Sasha brings into his life. These two are so perfect together. They had me hooked and entertained from start to finish and have really set the scene for Booked and Foley! I'm so excited for those two but first you need to check out this predator x prey, hurt/comfort romance!

“I’m under your spell.” His lips follow his words in a hard kiss. “And I never want you to set me free.”

“Love.
It’s a horrible emotion.
Turns you into a useless, pathetic, pining piece of waste.
And I never want it to go away.”

My first emotion came even before I read the first page.
Because THE PINTEREST BOARD 🤩
Please make sure to check it out, because it is just amazing!! And I actually broke into a series of awwwwwws because my BABY BOB 🥹
Same goes for the playlist!

So, I won’t pretend I wasn’t incredibly excited for Lynx's story. This series is simply perfect, with Lynx being probably the most intriguing character throughout it.

As it always is with Saxon’s books, this reads in one breath 🤍 And Wilde’s End had already won my heart anyway 🥹

“Wilde’s End is creepy,” I tell Wilde.
“Wilde’s End is home.”

Sasha and Lynx are an amazing couple. Lively, emotional, sunshine-y bratty Sasha literally wormed his way into Lynx’s life, mind, and heart.

“I’m under your spell.
And I never want you to set me free.”

Lynx was everything I thought he would be. A closed-off, weird loner who believes in fairies 🥹 and teaches his cubs to protect themselves (which genuinely ripped my heart out every single time 😭)

And I am very sorry, but Bob absolutely won my heart because, seriously, give me a big, beautiful cat any time and I’d be stupidly happy 😻 And Lynx was absolutely hilarious about Bob throughout the book.

“The sound he gives me almost comes across as agreement.
Almost.
Because he’s an animal, and animals can’t actually speak English.”

I loved that, as it usually is with Saxon’s books, even though there are some dark themes and traumas, it never gets overwhelming. The characters actually talk, and everything is presented as part of their lives, making you feel for them without dragging you into the depths of their pain.

So, you get it - I loved it 💜

I love all the Wilde’s men, I love these gorgeous covers, the energy, the vibes…

And Booooooker, I can’t wait for your story, you crazy freak!! ❣️

And I am infinitely thankful for this ARC 🫶

Lynx has been one of the most fascinating characters in this series so I was very happy to read his story. I knew he had to be deeply emotional due to how protective he was but his backstory broke my heart. This poor man and his need to train and protect the cubs. I loved how much the cubs all loved him and wanted to protect him right back. Sasha is a sweet and sassy character with a lot of baggage as well. I felt for him, especially with some of his scars. I did like how he was with Booker who is another character I am deeply interested in learning more about. This series is different from everything else but each book gets better and better.

Lynx's Ruin is the third book in The Wilde Men series. In my opinion this series is best read in order. This is the story of Sasha and Lynx. I loved these two and watching them work through their issues to build a relationship. The chemistry between these two was off the charts. Both guys have bad pasts but they still were perfect for each other. I couldn't put this book down once I started it. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series as 5 star reads.

My goodness this world only gets better and better. Lynx and you can't forget his ever present shadow Bob, properly named for a bobcat, have both been such intriguing characters from the beginning in the Wilde Men universe and I LOVED digging into to the underbelly of this gruff man and the soft fur of his pet.😉

Wilde's End is a town in the middle of nowhere with no people, or very few people, and Lynx liked it that way. He already thought there are too many outsiders...cough, cough to the brothers who have shown up recently and disturbed his peace.😂 So imagine one more showing up and Lynx is about ready to have a conniption. Getting Sasha to leave is Lynx's number one priority and he refused to take his eyes off him. It had nothing to do with how pretty he was or how bratty he behaved. Or his pretty underthings. 😏 Nope. Nothing of the sort.😆

Lynx cares about Wilde's End and protecting the Enders more than just about anybody. He may not say the words, but his actions demonstrated it everyday. It's why he didn't like outsiders, like Sasha, who disrupted his quiet, ordered life. He worried about "the cubs", which are the children under eighteen, and he spent time with them teaching them how to be aware and how to be safe in an unsafe world. It's another reason why Sasha grated on him since he believed Sasha was weaker than the five year old he was training. 😂 Oh, the thoughts that Lynx has are hilarious. Truly some of my favorite parts are when he's with the children, or talking to Bob to which he always replied that the bobcat can't answer because he's a wild animal. 😂

Sasha was just driving through when his car broke down and he liked nothing better than to leave the weird little town with their odd rules. However, he needed his car fixed and Wilde's End didn't exactly have a mechanic on hand. That required some sort of deal that Sasha did not understand, but it is how he ended up working with Booker and that was fascinating to say the least. Sweet, seemingly innocent Sasha working with one of the most unhinged characters in Wilde's End were some of my favorite chapters. Sasha knows how to read people and he's a quick learner, which is extremely valuable, especially around someone like Booker, it's also how he turned the predator Lynx into prey a few times. Sasha was fascinating in his silent, quiet ways and I adored him!🥰☺️

Sasha was the perfect partner for Lynx in every single way. He fit into every crevice of Lynx's quiet, stoic, aloof, weirdness with his own sunshiny quirkiness, that wasn't over the top, but was more subtle. So much so that it made Lynx constantly question if Sasha was a faire and put a spell on him. 😆Sasha should have been frightened out of his mind around someone like Lynx, but it’s basically the opposite. He felt safe and comfortable, plus he was drawn to the dangerous side of Lynx. I think it's why, deep down, he knew Lynx would never hurt him and he just couldn't resist Lynx when the attraction was there. Their banter was adorable and the fact that Sasha gave as good as he got and loved Bob and his gentle purrs was also super cute.🥰

Inside Lynx's Ruin there is primal play, up against a tree time 🥵, pretty panties, lot's of marking, Bob cover your eyes 😂...JK no bobcats were forced to witness sultry, dirty things that big ol' kitties shouldn't witness. 😏Interaction with lots of secondary characters who live in Wilde's End. There is heat and tension along with a small bit of suspense. By the end what I truly love best is a man like Lynx becoming a big pile of goo, well okay, maybe I wouldn't go that far, but Lynx is certainly sweet for Sasha and there is nothing more adorable than a stoic man going soft for love.😭🥰

I love how this world keeps expanding while still reeling me in to bring all the small town vibes of an off-the-grid and non-existent town that Wilde End continues to be so it still feels cozy. It's fantastic and I feel everything that happens could only happen in a place like this. I truly can't get enough of the quirky, weird characters and strange occurrences that each book brings. Things never move quickly in Wilde's End, but that's the beauty of a book like this, there is nothing but time to fall for the perfect man 😉🥰

🌲 Lynx’s Ruin by Saxon James 🌲

A machete-wielding mountain man, a supposedly helpless little menace, forced proximity and a gorgeous bobcat named Bob? Honestly, what more could I possibly ask for?! 😂🖤

Lynx is exactly the kind of character who makes you wonder how on earth an author is going to make you fall for someone so intimidating, unpredictable, and downright terrifying… and then somehow has you completely gone for him. Beneath that rough, dangerous exterior is a man with a fiercely protective heart, a complicated past and so much more to him than meets the eye. He might be determined to keep everyone at arm’s length but Sasha has other ideas!

And Sasha? I absolutely adore the way he refuses to be the helpless little prey Lynx assumes he is. He might seem sweet and innocent but there’s a cheeky, stubborn side to him that gives as good as he gets. He isn't intimidated by Lynx in the way you'd expect and watching him push back against this grumpy, unpredictable man makes their dynamic ridiculously entertaining. The banter, the tension, the attraction and the way Sasha gradually gets under Lynx's skin had me hooked!

Their relationship is such a delicious mix of danger, tenderness and possessiveness. Lynx is a man who has built his entire world around protecting the people he cares about,l but letting someone close enough to protect him in return is a completely different story. Seeing his walls come down for Sasha, little by little, is one of the most satisfying parts of their romance. Give me a scary, emotionally guarded man who turns ridiculously soft for his person and I am absolutely SOLD!

And we NEED to talk about Bob! 🐾 Because the presence of that adorable bobcat adds such a wonderfully quirky touch to the story. The whole Wilde’s End community continues to make this series feel unique with its eccentric characters, unusual little traditions and that strange, isolated atmosphere that somehow feels like home. There’s humour, suspense, plenty of heat, and a fantastic protector and prey dynamic that keeps things deliciously interesting.

Saxon James, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME?! Every time I think this series cannot possibly get any better, Wilde’s End pulls me straight back in. Lynx and Sasha make such a brilliant couple and I love the contrast between Lynx’s dangerous intensity and Sasha’s quieter, cheekier nature. Watching a man like Lynx discover that love doesn't have to mean losing control and that protecting someone can mean letting them into his heart is just everything.

This series has completely stolen my heart and I cannot get enough of Saxon’s wonderfully characters, addictive romances and the way she balances humour, heat, and genuine emotion. Another gorgeous MM romance to add to the collection and I am already desperate to return to Wilde’s End!

Saxon James is an auto-buy author for me, and I've been waiting for Lynx's book. Needless to say, I absolutely devoured this one!

Lynx completely stole the show for me. His character development was SO good, and getting to learn more about his backstory made me understand him on a whole new level. He's the perfect example of a tough exterior with a soft heart, and seeing just how fiercely he loves and protects his people had me emotional.

And Sasha? I loved how he refused to let Lynx push him away and kept showing up for him. He was exactly what Lynx needed to start letting those walls down, and watching them bring out the best in each other was beautiful. The chemistry between these two was UNDENIABLE and OFF THE CHARTS! They complement each other perfectly.

I also loved getting more of Wilde's End, especially Lynx's relationships with his cubs. And Bob! Everything about Bob! Saxon's world-building and character development just keep getting better with every book.

This one felt a little darker than the previous books, but I loved every minute of it. Honestly, this is the BEST book in the series so far for me! Let's see if Booker and Foley can top it. Lynx and Sasha have officially stolen my heart, and I already know I'll be revisiting their story. I can't wait to return to Wilde's End!

In Saxon we trust!!

Smashed it - YET AGAIN!

This book had made me utterly fall in love with Lynx!

The previous books show him in such a different light, and the saying 'don't judge a book by it's cover' has never been more true!
I love that we get a deep dive into Lynx in this book and he is so much more than the mean exterior he lets the others see.

Lynx is such a protector it makes my heart hurt! God he is so blooming cute! The salt lines, the bottles, the way he is - just makes so much sense now we know his story.
And what he has been through made my heart break! It's no wonder he is the way he is. His background broke my heart! The guilt he carries around with him is just so sad!

I'm so glad he has a safe space in Sasha and was able to open up to him...eventually ❤️

And Lynx! What a Minx! My lord i didn't know he had it in him, but my god i am here for it!

I adore this pair so much and I am obsessed with their stories.
If you had asked me in the previous books if I would even like Lynx let alone LOVE him - i would of told you that you're mad!
But god this book has me head over heels for Lynx (and Sasha of course!)

P.S....The seduction technique from Sasha was 🤌🏼🤌🏼

Also....the sneak peak of Booker and Foley's story 👀 GIVE ME IT NOW!

I love Lynx and Sasha together. They fit together so perfectly when you see who they really are. Lynx is a mushy protector at heart with this gruff, snippy exterior. He has such a heart of gold, and you see that so many of the choices he makes are driven by his need to make sure that his pack and cubs can protect themselves. Sasha immediately raises his hackles because he throws him off, making him feel something different. Things he can’t account for are unsafe in Lynx’s world. Sasha is truly not dangerous, other than to Lynx’s heart, but he’s been a victim, and as the target of dangerous people, he could be bringing danger to Wilde’s End. He’s working off his debt while waiting to get his car fixed, and maybe only trying to fight what is growing between him and Lynx a tiny bit. His interactions with Booker were a highlight for me, as was seeing the cubs, Bob, and everyone show up for these two as they fought for their HEA. This felt like one where you really saw their village show up for them.

I love a good grumpy/sunshine trope and Lynx is definitely the definition of grumpy, he’s sought in his way and has no willingness to change until a bratty sunshine named Sasha comes into his life. I loved getting to know more about Lynx and getting more of him! The banter between these two were phenomenal and the gradual pull made the tension that much better. Bob the bobcat is definitely the star of the show though. I had a great time with another Wilde Man!

the thing about saxon is that she’s gonna write a good book; no matter what i know i’m in for something great!!

this was definitely my favorite (so far) of the series! lynx and sasha were fun!! grumpy lynx who only has a soft spot for a few (his cubs, bob, and sasha) was everything to me. i loved learning about why he is the way that he is; i just loved him. and sasha!! he was so strong & i’m so proud of how far he came

the growth in the book was incredible & i’m happy sasha and lynx found their way to each other <333

this was also (imo) heavier than the previous 2 books, and i really enjoyed that. saxon wrote the darker topics/situations really well and with a lot of carefulness. she’s just such a good writer <33

I'm not even going to lie, i simply wasn't expecting to fall in love with Lynx the way I did, but omg, this book completely shocked me with how much it made me love that man. I loved getting more insight into Lynx because it genuinely made his character and choices from the previous books make more sense and it led me to understanding him way more. I also adored Sasha and the way he completely flipped Lynx's perception of him on his head. I think these two are perfect for each other, and i can confidently say that they are one of my favorite couples of this series. I can't wait till the next book in this series but this one was great.

Love it / Slightly obsessed

🐺 Predator x prey
🌞 Grumpy x sunshine
🏡 Found family
🛡️ Overprotective MC
🔥 Primal play
💔 Hurt/comfort
🩹 Healing from past trauma
🪢 Forced proximity
💕 Opposites attract
🐾 Gruff exterior, soft heart

I am officially obsessed with this book. The Wilde Men series just keeps getting better, and I’ve been waiting for Lynx’s story since we first met him. I knew there was something fascinating beneath all that brooding, superstition, and knife-wielding weirdness, but I wasn’t prepared to fall this hard for him or Sasha.

Lynx is one of the most wonderfully strange love interests I’ve read. He’s intimidating, fiercely protective, and determined to avoid emotional vulnerability at all costs. Getting inside his head and watching him try to rationalize his growing feelings for Sasha was an absolute pleasure. This man can handle just about anything except falling in love.

And the predator x prey dynamic? I LOVED how it kept me questioning who was actually playing which role. Lynx has the machete, the intimidating presence, and the murderous woodland-creature energy, so naturally, he must be the predator, right? WRONG. Sasha might look like the vulnerable little rabbit, but he has plenty of tricks up his sleeve. Watching him turn the tables, get under Lynx’s skin, and have this supposedly fearsome predator completely at his mercy was ridiculously satisfying. Turns out the prey might be the one doing the hunting!

I loved how their vulnerabilities complemented each other. Lynx has built his entire identity around protecting others, while Sasha wants to be loved for who he really is. Watching them slowly find their way toward each other was equal parts heartwarming and entertaining. Beneath all the growling and sharp edges, these two have so much heart.

The chemistry was fantastic, and the primal-play scenes were intense in all the best ways. I especially appreciated the balance of roughness in the woods and the tenderness of the aftercare. And Sasha’s lace panties deserve an honorable mention because, honestly, they were doing important work.

Returning to Wilde’s End was another highlight. I loved the found-family atmosphere, catching up with familiar characters, and seeing Lynx’s softer side with the community and his little cubs. And Bob the bobcat? Iconic.

It was that epilogue that had me all up in my feelings, though. I was already invested, but that ending delivered a one-two gut punch straight to the heart. I need to reread it immediately. For research purposes, obviously.

Lynx and Sasha completely won me over. Give me all the grumpy, slightly unhinged men who turn impossibly soft for their person, and I will happily devour every word. This book had me smiling, swooning, and thinking about these two long after I finished. I’m officially desperate for more Wilde Men!

Thank you, Saxon James and Foreword PR, for the ARC!

I was blessed to read an Advanced Reader Copy of Lynx's Ruin. All opinions are my own and freely given.

When Sasha gets stranded in Wilde's End, avoiding the weirdo mountain people was his first priority. But stealing in the End is forbidden, and now he has to pay off what he took in blood, sweat, and tears, all under the watchful eye of Lynx, who clearly hates Sasha and wants him gone. Or dead. But Sasha has always been attracted to dangerous things, and Lynx is the very definition of dangerous. And while Lynx may call Sasha a rabbit and believe he can't take care of himself, Sasha hasn't gotten this far without his own tricks. Sometimes the best predators are the ones who hide their claws. Lynx may think he has control in the End, but Sasha is determined to claim Lynx before he leaves Wilde's End and never looks back. But when the ability to leave is finally restored to him, Sasha has to choose whether to flee like he'd planned or to become a permanent Wender. And the choice has never been harder.

This book was so good! It took me a little bit to get into it, but then I could not put it down! I loved Sasha's character so much. He was such a brat! But he was no meek rabbit. He was as cunning as a snake, and that was freaking awesome. I wasn't expecting for Sasha to be the hunter! I loved that he played soft and pitiful but was actually super smart. I loved his crop tops and that he stole Lynx's sweatshirts. Sasha was just an awesome character.

I also really enjoyed Lynx. I was not sure what to think about him because he was so surley in the first two books, but he was a great character too. I loved that he just wanted to protect his people and that he didn't want Sasha to get hurt. I really loved his belief system. It was such a surprise! The fact he thought Sasha was fae at first was really cute. I liked seeing all his quirks as Sasha got to know him. I also really loved that he had no idea what to do with Sasha seducing him. It was cute and funny.

These two were really a great couple. I loved their banter and how they built trust in their relationship. I really, really love that Lynx liked Sasha for who he was and didn't expect him to be someone else. And the spice was hella hot! I looooved the primal play. And I really loved the respect that built between them, especially at the end. Sometimes being in a relationship means setting boundaries and making sacrifices, and Sasha and Lynx did both perfectly.

Some light criticism I have is that I disliked the lack of lube and prepping. I know Sasha said he liked it without it, but I definitely prefer books with proper prep between the characters. I also wished that the Antonio plotline had a little more to it throughout the book. Like that Antonio would have kept coming to the End rather than just the few isolated incidents. But having said that, I did find the last quarter of the book to be really exciting!

Having said all that, Lynx's Ruin is definitely my favorite in the series so far! I would read a whole series on these two! Overall, I give this one 5/5 🌟!

“You’re okay with that?” My frustration flares. “Being vulnerable?” There’s a long beat where his gaze jumps between my eyes, and I don’t notice time has eaten the distance between us until his lips pull up into a dangerous smile. “Actually …” he whispers. “I think I prefer it.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 🌶️🌶️🌶️

What can I possibly say about this book?! An amazing addition to an already spectacular, unique and unforgettable series. Every book I read makes me love The Wilde Men series more and more! I was so curious to see how Saxon would bring Lynx to life and make him a loveable character after his colder and slightly unhinged personality in previous books. But I should never have had my doubts – Lynx burrowed his way into my heart so deeply by the end of this book and I wanted to protect him at all costs. There is so much more than meets this eye with this touch adverse, highly protective, highly distrustful character and his arc was beautiful to read! 🥹😭 Wait until you meet his cubs and see how much they are loved with so few words and so many small actions!

And Sasha 🙌🏻 This colourful, feisty, brilliant little Rabbit was the perfect prey for our predator Lynx, but he’s also not to be underestimated and I LOVED the push/pull between them! He might come off as defenceless, naive and so unsuited for Wilde’s End, but Lynx quickly discovers that this outsider has found ways to protect himself over the years and shouldn’t be judged by his cover. They may have started off disliking each other, complete opposites to be sure, but it isn’t long before they become completely addicted to one another.

If you are a fan of primal play – FRIENDS. This book has some of THE BEST primal play scenes I’ve ever read and my heart was racing so fast while reading them!! This spicy trope couldn’t have been better suited for Lynx & Sasha and heightened all the tension and obsession brewing between them. It played right into their personalities and gave them the freedom to explore the chemistry they so strongly felt.

One of my favourite parts of the book, hands down, is seeing both Lynx and Sasha’s character development as they get emotionally closer to each other. Both have had traumatic pasts, and both change so much over the course of the story.

I CANNOT WAIT for Booker and Foley’s book! I am always waiting on tender hooks to see what kind of enthralling characters Saxon writes for this world and I know that just like Lynx’s Ruin, it’ll be another hit!
