I’ve had this game for 4 days and I’ve already forced my brother, my bff, 2 of my friends, and my boss how great it is. The gameplay seems simple enough, but after a closer look, real gamies recognize just how well executed Sorcery School is made. Of COURSE you’re pulled in by the obvious references to nostalgic childhood movies, but that’s just scratching the surface; the solitaire element makes learning to play incredibly easy. But the best part of the game (IF I had to actually narrow it down - it’s really one of the best all around so far…) is that it’s part logic puzzle. That part is BRILLIANT. If you don’t carefully consider your arsenal, the monsters’ strength, your life force, and whether or not you have earned enough stars to use your wand, you won’t get far. Great spin on the original solitaire game. Bonuses are plentiful and attainable (not easy, but attainable), rewards are generous. The only flaw I have found so far (it’s only been 4 days) is that after you grit and grind, play and play, die a few times, you finally earn some coins and enough artifacts to upgrade your current stash… and then you have to use your coins (that you just earned) to PAY to upgrade your potions. In other words, first you earn them, then you pay to upgrade them… like you have to earn them TWICE. That isn’t fair gameplay. Other than that, this game is amazing - great for relieving anxiety.

I love solitaire games with a story or quest component to them and this game is one of the best I’ve played in that genre. I love the unique mix of powers and effects from the different decks you can use, the different enemies and their weaknesses, and the challenges that keep generating, giving you specific goals to try and accomplish. I find the battles to be good difficulty level, and the stars system allows you to decide if you want easier or harder battles. Upgrades do require a LOT of coins, and while you can get a decent amount from completing challenges, I find I’m always bottle necked by lack of coins. However I don’t mind grinding through the levels because I do find them enjoyable. I also like how quickly energy is recharged so I never feel like I have to wait a whole day before I can play again. My only complaint is I wish the game allowed me to search for and add random player friends in the game. I’ve been having a hard time getting enough friends to complete the challenges related to gifting or receiving coins from friends.

Update: while I appreciate the reply from the devs, please re-read my review. I know the islands can be played simultaneously. It’s still wildly unsatisfying to get 1-2 battles in the forest, 1 battle on Skull Island, 1 on Fire Mountain, and 1 on the Ice Palace before I’m right back to 2-3 DAYS of side quests. The effort isn’t balanced considering what we get for it. For the record, this game is almost the perfect game. It’s beautiful, funny, easy to learn, and addicting to play. There are no ads, and you can easily progress without buying anything if you don’t want to. The thing that has started to mess up gameplay for me is how OFTEN I have to level up in order to be able to do quest battles. Like I just spent about three days playing every chance I had, I did spend some money on unlimited play, I finally leveled up my prestige, and then I was able to play just ONE quest battle on each island before I’m now being expected to level up again. I love the side battles, but not when I’m going to be doing just that for literal days before I can move the story forward. I feel like either the number of souls per level up needs to be lowered, or there needs to be a bit more of the story available before needing to level up or upgrade again. I’m only saying this because I feel like this could be one of the best games out there. But interest and satisfaction are part of a game playing experience, and my satisfaction is lowering with each time I have to work crazy hard only be blocked from making more quest progress. Hope this is something that can be addressed.

This game is fine. Pretty easy to learn the basics, no real bugs to speak of. My rating is lower for 2 main reasons. 1–Another game that gives players a false idea of the difficulty of levels to succeed after the very early levels. The first 10-15 levels are very easy, then it quickly ramps up the difficulty A LOT. From near 100% success on first attempt to a very frustrating MAYBE 40% on any combats that have meaningful impact on advancement. Special pop-up chest fights are too difficult. Tutorials for the Arena event were easy wins for the first 3 of 5 levels, then when the event opened the VERY FIRST LEVEL was impossible to beat even though I had leveled at least 5 levels since the tutorial. 2-Misinformation. Often the game is misleading on how something in the game resolves. Monsters that completely avoid the only big damage in the game(wand) with no warning or alternative. Supposedly the game is currently running an Arabian Nights event. This is either literally wrong or behind a barrier not obvious in the game. Limited time special events SHOULD ALWAYS BE FOR ALL PLAYERS. The message I get from this game so far has been “look what we offer!”, followed by “0h, that’s not for you”. I’m already up to level 20. How much more time do I have to play to have anything interesting? So far it simply feels like another game that could be a fun game experience but quickly turns frustrating unless you pay. I bought the beginner purchase and that got me to the this point of disappointment and frustration. I’m not giving money to a game that makes money a requirement to progress.
