A supported streaming subscription and an internet connection are required to access songs from a streaming service in djay. No recording available for streamed songs. Neural Mix cannot be used when streaming from Apple Music or Spotify. Specific songs may not be available or accessible on your account or in your country. Streaming service availability and pricing may vary depending on country, currency and service.

Used Serato as a professional for years. Gave this a try because I saw the how the music library worked and thought it would be better for organization. Also used the iPad app for awhile for wedding ceremonies before trying the Mac version. This is an absolute game changer for music prep. Serato is just too old fashioned, and it takes half as long to prep for a wedding. When you do 50 a year, time matters. I enjoy that you can combine Beatsource, Apple, Tidal into a home playlist within Djay pro. Last I checked Serato is not able to do this. In Serato you can't put a Tidal song into a playlist with your hardrive or local files. The fact that I can now do that with Djay makes such an improvement in the way I work. Great UI/UX design, minimal problems and that's mostly because I'm running a dated computer. I also love the related song feature. I can put together songs I know fit well together and review them in a heartbeat. Also putting the queue on the right just make sense. It's not in your face like Serato. Small things like that make all the difference.

I've had a few crashes due to large folders loading. My midi knobs all reset when I load a new track. That's bad when you are in a live set. You need it to be where it was when you mixed out the previous track. It doesn't match to the first beat of a song as well as other major DJ programs. I've been using it at my gigs at a club for the last 2 months and have had to restart it once but we have a house computer going at all times with Virtual DJ so that was a good back up save. It works very well with my Numark controller that was desinged with Serato in it. I wish the graphics would rotate on their own as I transition songs so I don't have to go up and click it myself. Sorry for the spelling issues but I'm about to go on and this box doesn't auto correct, which is weird in it self. OH, I also have to reload folders after I add new tracks to them from beatport or other major download sites. It also is not connecting to my Beatport account where it says it has that capability.

To briefly address a couple of the items you mentioned, please note that you can change the settings in djay's Preferences -> General to not reset EQ, effects, controls on song loading. Regarding Apple Music, unfortunately, there’s no way for 3rd-party DJ-style apps to play songs from Apple Music's streaming service as these songs are DRM-protected. That said, you can access your Music collection (e.g., synced via iTunes) directly from within djay. This includes all your music, playlists, and folders, along with any smart playlists you’ve created. In addition, djay offers several streaming service options that provide millions of songs and/or videos for you to play and mix in djay, including TIDAL, SoundCloud, Beatport and Beatsource LINK. I’ve been a power-user since v1 of the app and I’m quite bummed.Sadly it’s too unstable for professionals. I’ve spent so much time with their staff trying to explain issues with their software (comparing different Djay editions to illustrate inconsistencies and bugs but they just don’t seem to understand). Whether it be my custom controller mappings disappearing, constant struggle to get just one cue point to save after I close the software, some editions of the software failing to identify the position of my crossfader, straight up failing to load songs, crashes, the list goes on. Same issues with different laptops and hardware. A professional should be able to trust their equipment to enable them to do their job and I just can’t bring this to gigs knowing at least one of many things is going to go wrong.Maybe the cash-grab for subscription services took the dev-power away from enabling a decent core experience but I strongly advise the management of the app to shift priorities back to addressing the many bugs their users are reporting). If you are a hobbyist, this software is fun— get it. But know you’re probably setting yourself up to start back at square one with something like Serato if you following through with Djing.
