In today’s rapidly evolving media landscape, citizens – especially young people – face significant challenges in developing the skills needed to navigate the digital world effectively.

Many struggle to access reliable information

With constant changes in media platforms, actors, and usage patterns, many struggle to access reliable information, engage in constructive public dialogue, resist disinformation and propaganda, and empower their local communities. Similarly, senior citizens often lack access to the necessary institutions and experience with rapidly changing technologies, leaving them vulnerable to misinformation and exclusion.

The Theory of Change for media and information literacy

DW Akademie’s Theory of Change focuses on equipping individuals with the tools and knowledge to become media-literate and critically engaged citizens. By promoting Media and Information Literacy (MIL), we aim to empower people to discern credible information, participate meaningfully in public discourse, and build resilience against harmful content. This includes fostering collaboration with educational institutions, media organizations, and community groups to create accessible, inclusive, and impactful MIL programs.
