ScienceBits is Nir Shaviv’s independent, random and subjective walk through physics, astrophysics, climate, computation, and scientific curiosities.

The site

ScienceBits is a random and subjective walk through science, with physics at its center. It brings together university-level course material, curious problems tackled for fun, scientific calculators, working notes, and explanations of research for a broader audience.

The author

ScienceBits is written and maintained by Prof. Nir J. Shaviv of the Racah Institute of Physics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research spans astrophysics and climate physics, including stellar structure, radiative processes, cosmic rays, and possible links between the astronomical environment and Earth’s climate.
