  • Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Fall Atlanta and Tennessee Valley Regional User Group events! 👏 Across ASW Distillery in Atlanta and Mueller Water Products in Chattanooga, Creo by PTC, Onshape by PTC and Windchill | PTC Technology users came together to explore practical AI applications, model-based engineering, and the path from weldment design to manufacturing. A special thank-you to Debbie Williams from PTC, who flew in from Detroit for the Atlanta event to share a look at Jetstream and Orbit. We appreciate you making the trip and sharing your knowledge with the community! Thank you to our presenters, PTC/USER, Inc. & PTC - Community organizers, and both host teams for bringing these events together. Making time to compare approaches and learn from other engineers is what these user groups are all about. #Engineering #PTCUSER #Creo #Windchill #DigitalThread

  • Follow one product change from the original requirement to the equipment in the field. Can you find why it was needed, which design was approved, what testing supported it, and which units received it? Answering those questions may take you through Codebeamer, Creo, Windchill, and ServiceMax. Each supports a different part of the work, but the relationships between their records need to remain usable as the product changes. That takes agreed identifiers, clear ownership, and workflows that keep those relationships current. Having the systems in place is only a starting point. Notice where the trail becomes difficult to follow. If someone has to reconcile spreadsheets or find the engineer who remembers, that handoff is worth examining first. #Engineering #DigitalThread #PTC #ProductLifecycle

Still on an older version of Creo? There's a lot to sift through. Here's my attempt at a simplified 15 page guide with 52 Highlights and 100+ links to documentation, sample videos, and PTC help resources. Your team can dig into the areas that make sense. PDF attached. Did I miss something that's been useful during your upgrade? Open to ideas! #Creo #CAD #ProductDevelopment TriStar Digital Thread Solutions

  • Two machines can have the same mechanical assembly and behave differently because they run different software. Now replace a controller on one of them. The part number is approved, but the team still needs to confirm that its firmware works with the rest of that machine’s configuration. That compatibility needs to be part of the product record, where engineering, manufacturing, and service can find it. Windchill | PTC Technology manages product structures and engineering changes. Codebeamer by PTC connects requirements, software development, and testing, helping teams maintain the evidence behind those compatibility decisions. For a product with embedded software, “approved component” leaves a question open: approved with which hardware and software combination? #Engineering #ConfigurationManagement #Windchill #Codebeamer

  • There’s room for the fastener. Is there room for the wrench? A CAD assembly can fit together exactly as intended and still be awkward to service. A technician may need to remove a cover, disconnect a hose, or take out another component just to reach a routine replacement. That is useful feedback while the layout is still open to change. Creo by PTC gives engineers a way to examine access and clearance in the design. Windchill manages the product definition and revisions, while ServiceMax by PTC records maintenance work that can help teams identify recurring service difficulties. Bring one of those difficulties into the next design review. Ask a service technician to walk through the repair sequence and show where access adds unnecessary work. #Engineering #Creo #Windchill #ServiceMax

  • An AI-generated test case can look reasonable and still refer to a requirement that no longer applies. Before using it, an engineer needs to check the source requirement, its revision, and the product configuration being tested. A clear explanation alone doesn’t establish that the suggestion is appropriate. Windchill | PTC Technology manages product configurations and change history. Codebeamer by PTC maintains relationships between requirements, risks, and tests. That context matters when deciding what information an AI tool should use and how its output will be reviewed. For a first engineering AI use case, choose a bounded task, such as drafting tests for an approved set of requirements. Keep the source records visible so reviewers can check each suggestion against the work it is meant to support. #Engineering #AI #Windchill #Codebeamer

  • The replacement part matches the original drawing. The technician arrives and finds that a retrofit changed the assembly two years ago. For equipment that stays in service for decades, the factory configuration is only the starting point. Repairs, upgrades, and component replacements can leave otherwise identical machines with different service needs. Windchill | PTC Technology provides the engineering definition and change history. ServiceMax helps track the installed asset and its maintenance history, giving service teams context about the specific equipment they support. Before ordering a part or planning a repair, a technician needs to know what is installed on that unit today. Having that history available can prevent a wasted visit and another delay for the customer. #Engineering #ServiceMax #Windchill #Service

  • PTC has launched PTC Jetstream, a new collaboration solution that connects teams, suppliers, and partners around product data. For manufacturers, it offers a way to bring more people into design reviews while keeping their feedback connected to the work. Teams can review supported 2D and 3D content directly in a browser, with comments, markups, and decisions tied to the version under review. AI summaries help capture outcomes and next steps, while Windchill connectivity brings the review record back into the product’s history. That connection matters as engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers work through changes together. Keeping the feedback and reasoning accessible can help teams reduce repeated discussions and carry decisions into production with clearer context. • Engineering has released the revised assembly. On the shop floor, the work instruction still shows the old component. The new design may be ready, but the instructions for building it need attention. A component replacement can affect purchasing, tooling, the manufacturing BOM, and the order of assembly operations. Each needs review before production can use the change. Windchill | PTC Technology manages the engineering change and its affected product data. MPMLink connects engineering and manufacturing BOMs with process planning, helping teams assess what needs updating. A useful change review includes the people responsible for those manufacturing records. They need enough context to determine which instructions, parts, and operations are affected, and when production should begin using them. #Engineering #Manufacturing #Windchill #PLM
