J Engine

This page is for JE binaries, and may include beta or experimental versions. Current stable versions are included with the distributions, see the main download page.

JEs are put here as candidates for inclusion in a distribution (release or beta). They are built from git jsource master branch and run the test suite. A JE has a release level and a build timestamp that is returned by 9!:14'' and can be extracted from the JE byte file.

The following table summarizes changes included in builds. A JE with a release level >: than indicated below includes those changes. This table reflects JE's as they are added here. As distributions are built, this information will be moved as appropriate to J Help Release Notes.

Normally you get a new JE by installing a new distribution (release or beta). Occasionlly you might want a new JE before it has been included in a distribution.

You can download and install the latest JE manually.

Or you can use the steps below (temporary until integrated into 805 package manager). 
start j - install temporary script with JE pacman routines
   load'pacman'
   httpget_jpacman_'www.jsoftware.com/download/jengine/jengine.ijs'

start j - install new JE
   load'~temp/jengine.ijs'
   jengine_status_jpacman_'' NB. current engine status
   jengine_update_jpacman_'' NB. current engine update

   jengine_report_jpacman_'' NB. report on all engines
