GA-20 joins forces with Charlie Musselwhite for Blues Now—a stripped-down, no-frills session that leans hard into the roots of real blues.

Blues Now is available through New West Records.
“BLUES NOW pedals in the ambiance of 1968 into the modern era, demonstrating respect for the genre forefathers while preserving artistic integrity that underscores universal appeal.”
Relix Magazine
"Far from being mere pretenders, copycats or knock-offs, GA-20 is the real deal... a brilliantly put-together record, from the playing and the arrangements to the production, there's sweat and grease and guts, smoke and whiskey in the atmosphere of the album, and a perfect sense of muddiness on the harp and vocals in the mix, but it manages to capture all that feeling while sounding fresh, vital, and new."
Far Out
"Rooted in the same electrified Chicago-blues tradition Musselwhite helped pioneer in the 1960s, BLUES NOW also finds room for heavier riffs and moments of unexpected experimentation across its 10 tracks. And like the rest of the album, 'I Can't Hold Out' thrives on immediacy and the locked-in chemistry of a multigenerational unit in top form."
Magnet Magazine
“Now aged 82, Mississippi veteran Musselwhite still has the lungs to dispatch down ‘n’ dirty blues with a raging voice and howling harmonica. Saddling up with the Boston-based trip GA-20, he finds new avenues to follow…”
Uncut Magazine
“An intergenerational blues summit between the harmonica legend and the young trio”
MOJO
"The Boston blues rock trio strikes up a dialogue with the legendary singer and harmonica player, reconciling the classic with the modern—and having a great time doing it."
The Hot List, Summer 2026 - Bandcamp Daily
"Blues Now, the new album from GA-20 with Charlie Musselwhite, blends hard-won experience with youthful vitality. The results are electric. If you like walking basslines, heavy shuffle rhythms, and searing, amplified harmonica, you’re unlikely to hear it done better this year... Whether the end or just another masterful chapter, Musselwhite and GA-20 prove that the future of blues is secure."
No Depression
"GA-20 with Charlie Musselwhite find immediate chemistry and unbridled spirit on BLUES NOW."
Glide Magazine
"Hopefully BLUES NOW gets a volume two since the natural chemistry between Musselwhite and GA-20 has created one of the year's finest, most powerful and unvarnished deep blues releases."

BLUES NOW Press Clips

A Meeting of Generations by The Blues Magazine

For more than six decades, Charlie Musselwhite has remained one of blues music’s most respected voices — a harmonica virtuoso whose career has always been rooted in authenticity. GA-20, meanwhile, have become one of the most exciting young blues acts of the last decade, earning Billboard Blues chart success and building a reputation for explosive live performances.

Together, they find a natural chemistry on BLUES NOW, creating a record that feels timeless without ever sounding nostalgic.

“Not retro Blues. Just Blues. Full Stop.”

That philosophy runs through every track.

Charlie Musselwhite’s six-decade odyssey reads like a bluesman’s epic, weaving its way from the heart of Mississippi to the soul of Memphis, through the electric nights of Chicago, and into the sun-soaked horizons of California. A living legend, Charlie is proof that the blues—like fine bourbon—only gets richer with time.

He didn’t just witness the golden era of blues; he was baptized in it, cutting his teeth alongside icons like Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf, playing in the smoky clubs of Chicago’s South Side where the music roared and history was written. The stage became his home, and fifty relentless years of touring shaped him into a master storyteller, his harmonica singing tales of joy, sorrow, and everything in between.

With 20+ albums under his belt, a Grammy in hand, and more than 33 Blues Music Awards lining his path, Musselwhite’s voice and musicianship continue to deepen—like the roots of the music he so passionately embodies. The blues may be timeless, but Charlie Musselwhite is the man who keeps it breathing, one note at a time.

“Harmonica virtuoso Musselwhite raises the level of emotional expression on his instrument beyond even the masters he learned from…the grizzled veteran richly decorates his music with telling nuance and chiseled detail.” – San Francisco Chronicle

“Legendary is an overused term, but it’s also the only word that suits this heavyweight blues harpist.” – Time Out New York

“Charlie Musselwhite continues to astonish. Musselwhite achieves an authoritative deep blues sound through spare understatement as only a master can.” – Off Beat Magazine

“His delivery is as thick as molasses and as warm and rich as freshly ploughed soil on a Mississippi morning. He draws from a deep pool of emotion, brings it to life when he plays, and invites us to jump on in.” – BluesWax

“Musselwhite continues to create trailblazing music while remaining firmly rooted in the blues. His worldly-wise vocals, rich, melodic harmonica playing and deep country blues guitar work flawlessly accompany his often autobiographical and always memorable original songs.” – AllAboutJazz.com

“Whether you see him live or listen to him on record, one thing is evident. In a day when so many musicians play blues from a narrow perspective, the risky musical outlook of Charlie Musselwhite always broadens the musical scope.” – Art Tipaldi, Blues Music Magazine
