here there once lived a happy little oven now deceased

here is the new little oven fetched by me (on my own) earlier today and put in the back of the car without any help

here are the steps up to my house from the drive and a picture I took whilst considering how I would move it up there (on my own)

here is the less happy little oven having been rolled up the steps by me (on my own)

here is the stupid oven having been dragged through the living-room, dining-room, hall and into the kitchen by me (on my own)

here is the f*cking thing connected - HA!

Well, I would've been round to help you carry it, but I'm not allowed to lift anything heavy for the next four weeks, what with the wrist and all.

HNU2 ... HNY2 ... er, happy new year.

I seem to recall Laurel and Hardy made a film about your day.

Rather like the "batteries not included" swiz, isn't it?

These things are always hard-wired, Ziggi. A plug would be far too easy, and dangerous.

Where was all the hired help?

What an inspiration you are to feminists everywhere.

Let me get this straight. You collected and delivered your own cooker - fine - but stopped every now and then to take pictures.

Blogging makes us do strange things.

Was anyone watching?

Zig said...

betty - excuses, excuses...

reg - who??

Dinah - stupid thing CAME with a plug.

WW - see above - I KNOW how to hard-wire and was prepared to do that. What I wasn't expecting was a 13 amp plug attached! I considered removing it and hard-wiring it anyway but decided that if it had a 13 amp fuse it might not like the 30 wizzing up and down my bit o' wire. So then I had to buy a socket to spur and fit it - which involved going back into town (25 miles, I know,I know, nothing to you people over the puddle but a long way over the plain for me) and then there wasn't enough room behind for the surface socket that I'd bought so I had to take the bottom of the unit out. It was all very stressful!

Malc - do you think if anyone was watching I'd've had to do it all on my own!? - I only took them at home on my phone - and yes blogging is bizarre isn't it? - why would I think that anyone would be interested in the life and times of my cooker fitting anyway? By the time I got to the socket fitting bit I was too pissed off to take any more! So you were saved that.

Anyway it's in and working - I'm planning our first burned pizza for this evening.

So now we can discover how Stonehenge and the Pyramids were erected.

Hats off to you Ziggi. I am completely revising all my opinions about girls, just because of this post. Could you pop down sometime and fit a new head gasket on my Hilux.

Zig said...

Kaz - pyramids maybe but Stonehenge - I ask you, would any woman build that?

Tom - I don't know what a Hilux is.
(goes off to google it)
Oh, it's a pick-up truck - very nice - I know even less about car engines than I do about horses.

I thought stonehenge was a form of birth control. Either that or an elaborate oven of sorts

I'm getting a new vacuum cleaner on Monday - eat my shorts.
P.S. The Piano - L&H. Please don't say you've never seen it?

Huh?

"Up and down my bit o' wire."

Ha ha ha!

Am I the first to notice the title of this post? Surely that alone was worth the pain!

Sounds like a job for Mrs BW. Excellent rates and success guarenteed.

I was hoping for some frame by frame animation of the schtove making it's way into the house.

Looks like you need to hook up one of those bizarre 'euro' adaptors? I know that you don't have electricity like we do...you convert gravity or Newtons or something into random spurts of miniature lightning bolts..

all I remember is that when I went to Britain I had to bring this weird adpator with about 15 prongs that fit into an outlet with only 12 receptacles to blow dry my hair.

Couldn't you have hooked up a harness on Freddy?

Zig said...

rim - ???

WW - listen I can see those little amperes running up and down and there were 30 of them!

reg - I'm too young to know what you're talking about, anyway the version I saw had chimps.

mango - thanko!

BW - I don't charge myself anything - I just charge up Himself's credit card to compensate for what it would have cost him if we'd had Mrs BW or the like in to do it.

HE - we have volts amps and ohms and if you put the volts over the amps (or the amps underneath) you can tell how many ohms you have - ta daaa! (hmmmm, ? I forget where do the watts fit into all this?)
If you tried to harness Freddie he would object but you can have a go if you like!

Hello Ziggi and a Happy New Year to you! As for what you have done with the oven from your car to the kitchen - I only have admiration. Nice to cath up with your blog. As usual, it generates a lot of smiles :-)

oh my stars woman you KILLED a STOVE?? thats.....actually that's impressive as hell.
you with two ponies should have hitched the team up and had them drag it in for you on a sledge. do i have to think of everything around here?

new year, new husband, new stove, newly remodelled living room, new home on an exotic isle...this witch thing has worked well for you hasn't it? :)

Freddy and I would get along famously. Once he realised that I AM the alpha stallion (tazer) then he would be eating out of my hand.

Congratulations on getting Ohms volts and amps! So are all of those Welsh Coal Miners out of jobs? Thank gawd they can all sing.

Zig said...

Ces - hello - hope 2008 is good to you!

FN - when you put it like that . . . yes I'm very lucky :0) very

HE - horse herds have an alpha mare in charge not a stallion, are you in touch with your feminine side?

Romeo Morningwood said...

I always enjoy getting 'in touch' with the feminine side...as often as possible!

Those Nature shows on the telly always show some randy stallion kicking up his heels and herding up a harem to wile away his days pleasuring his mares from sunrise to sunset.
Hence the term getting mare-ied.

WithinWithout said...

I also was under the impression that a stallion ran the saloon in a herd of horses.

So...what? An alpha mare runs the show? What the heck happened there? You mean...HE's actually wrong for once?

Zig said...

Yes, it's alpha mare - tis true tis.
I don't think that anyone's explained it to Freddie though, so he still thinks he's the boss.
