When NSIS is compiled with Visual C++ 2005, the build output is littered with two types of warnings:
- Use of functions that have a secure version and are supposedly deprecated. (e.g., fopen vs. fopen_s)
- Use of POSIX functions which are not a part of the ISO C++ standard by unqualified name instead of with a leading underscore. (e.g., strdup vs. _strdup)
The attached patch modifies the build environment when Visual C++ 2005 is used during compilation to prevent these warnings from being emitted. _CRT_SECURE_NO_WARNINGS is defined to disable the security warnings and _CRT_NONSTDC_NO_WARNINGS is defined to disable the POSIX warnings.
