As an unexperienced programmer it took me quite some
time to understand the basics of the scripting
structure, especially about the links between pages,
components and sections. I kept wondering which
section was executed on which page...

I suggest to add something like the following to the
Tutorial: The Basics.

Pages/Components
On the components page the user selects the
components to install.

Components/Sections
The components to install are defined by Sections in
the script (the name of the Section will appear as a
component on the component page).

Instfiles/Sections
All the sections are executed on the 'instfiles page'

I realise it is all in the documentation now, but
that is understanding afterwards. Now I made a nice
setup, thanks!

Isn't that explained clearly enough at section 2.3.3 of the
documentation? That's the Sections section of the tutorial.

Indeed Section 2.3.3. says it all:
In a common installer there are several things the user
can install. For example in the NSIS distribution
installer you can choose to install the source code,
additional plug-ins, examples and more. Each of these
components has its own piece of code. [= a section in the
script.] If the user selects to install this component,
then the installer will execute that code. In the script,
that code is in sections. Each visible section is a
component for the user to choose from. We will not discuss
invisible sections in this tutorial. It is possible to
build your installer with only one section, but if you
want to use the components page and let the user choose
what to install you'll have to use more than one section.

Maybe my lines could be added to 2.3.2. Pages, as an
    introduction/overview.

    2.3.4. Functions
Functions can contain script code, just like sections. The
difference between sections and functions is the way they
    are called.

    This confused me again.

As I said, it is all in the manual, the manual is not
wrong, but I didn't see the relations reading it the first
    time(s).

I've made some changes to the tutorial to better explain the
points that were confusing to you. Let me know if it's any
better and if there's anything more that you think can be
    improved.

The changes are attached to this bug report.

The new version (download) looks very good,
    Thanks,
