Portals. Pastiche bee ~ block for October.

Next late ;) Pastiche bee block. October's theme was 'Portals'. I was looking for an inspiration for a long time, but nothing seemed to fit to what I would like to sew. Suddenly, one day, I stumbled on THIS photo which I instantly loved. I knew, that I have to sew such block. I ordered fabric with brick pattern (the colour and size of bricks fit perfectly!) and searched for some forest or trees fabric for the window. I didn't have any, which would look good, but Julianna helped me and sent me some from her stash (Thank you!).
Sewing those small circles in the middle was really hard. Really. I thought, I will not have bigger problems with that, but I was mistaken. This time, I guess I overestimated my abilities ;) That's why the frame of the window is not perfectly even (and it should be). The bricks on the left are also not really in line with the rest. But all in all, I like the block. The colours and that tree with birds in the window. From the distance it looks a bit like photo :)

Kolejny spozniony blok w Pastiche bee. Pazdziernikowym tematem byly portale. Pomogla mi Julka, dosylajac material z drzewami i ptakami :)
Szycie szlo dosc dobrze, dopoki nie zostaly mi kolka do szycia. Tym razem sie ze swoimi umiejetnosciami przeliczylam. Zbyt male kolka, zbyt ostre luki, zbyt malo materialu do manipulacji (luk od lawki, luk pomiedzy lawka a oknem, obramowanie okna i samo okno).

'Brick wall' quilt and 'Brick wall' pillows finished!

Last few days I was sewing and sewing... and sewing... trying to finish my 'Brick wall' quilt. I made two matching pillows from some Kona charm squares and fabric which I have left from backing (for the top I used a whole jelly roll so I had no strips left). I chose muted coloured charm squares which would fit the colour palette of the quilt.

How do you like those Fall colours?

[P.S. I know the photos could be better; the weather is terrible. It's cloudy and it's raining almost all the time]

Udalo mi sie skonczyc moj quilt z jelly roll'ki. Dorobilam do niego dwie pasujace poduszki z resztek materialu z quiltowych pleckow i kilku(nastu) kwadratow charm pack'a Kona cotton. Taki jesienny zestaw wyszedl:

I'm submitting the 'Brick wall' set into Celebrate Colour link party organised by Stitched in Colour. Wee Woodland fabric has perfect Fall colours for me... lots of reds, oranges, yellows and olive green.

Solid green MQ for a swap

If you haven't sign up yet for the FQS sponsored giveaway you still have a chance till Friday 26th of August (24:00 CEST). Just go HERE and write a comment!

I finished a MQ for 'For The love Of Solids' swap (there is a button on my side bar; it's a flickr swap). My partner's favourite colour was green. I used Kona cotton charm squares which I cut in quarters, plus some white kona cotton for the borders. For binding and back I also used Kona, but I don't remember the colour name anymore:

MQ will travel together with the metal frame purse on Saturday :)

My 5 minutes... my quilt will be in the book!

I got back from holidays in a great mood. One thing is, that I'm relaxed and I really enjoyed the time in the place where I've been, and the second, that finally, the results from the Jelly Roll 'Dream Challange' were given.

You can read all about the challange on JellyRollQuilters web.

My jelly roll quilt top got into top 12!!! Can you imagine that?!

All twelve quilts will be in the next book. There are also 3 first (*huge*) prizes to be won but the top three will be anounced at the end of October at Fall Quilt Market in Houston.

I can't believe my luck! And to be honest, I wouldn't do it without you. It started with the Mug Rug contest organised by Madamme Samm. Thanks to all who voted, I won a jelly roll. My first ever jelly roll. I didn't have any idea what to do with it. Julianna from Jednoiglec Project Town gave me the link to the web and to the contest. Without her I wouldn't even know that such web exists. Lots of warm thoughts to you Julianna!

Of course I wouldn't be able to it without YOU! All of you... who comment, who get inspired by my work or simply just jump on my blog from time to time. Thank you!

If you are looking for inspiration for the jelly roll quilt, I can fully recommend you the last 'Jelly Roll Inspirations' book compiled by Pam and Nicky Lintott:

And of course the new book which will be published soon ;) !

*wish you a happy day*

'Weaving the strands' lap quilt finished

I finished! My second quilt. Yesterday I was quilting it the whole day (O.K., almost all... it took me about 6 or 7 hours on my tiny machine). It was my first time with free motion quilting on a surface this big.

'Weaving the strands' quilt top

I got my missing fabric today and immediately finished my quilt top... 'Weaving the strands' is ready :)
It requires 16 FQ and about 1/2y of background fabric. It's easy and fun to make and perfect for showing off the print on the fabric.

To make this one I used a bundle of Tula Pink's designer select FQ which I bought from Fat Quarter Shop. There are 15 FQs in the bundle, so I had to buy 1 FQ additionally.

Dandelion pillow and Swap recieved

I couldn't resist to finish this pillow. I started it long time ago - about few weeks I think - and didn't have the motivation to finish. There were always other things I was sewing or I simply didn't have the mood to spend time with my sewing machine ;)

Today I did it. It measures about 40x40 cm, there are few kona cottons (two shades of olive, white, black and light yellow; sorry, don't remember the names) and two fabrics from Hope Valley in Fiesta from DS.

My Dandelion pillow:

I did some raw edge applique and free hand machine quilted it using cream, black and white thread:

The back is zipped:

And today was my lucky day! I received a MQ from CASharp as a part of Swap Till You Drop (STUD) on Flickr. You may remember my Winnie the Pooh MQ which I did for her.
I got a bag full of goodies and a wonderful quilt with Remi from Ratatouille:

Thank you Cindy for such a marvelous quilt!

WIP

Just to say hallo and that I'm alive and sewing still ;)
I have an important meeting on Friday and have to prepare myself to it so I'm not sure if I will have much time to sew this week. What I wanted to show you is a piece of my next quilt (I decided to use the Prince Charming from Tula Pink FQ bundle which I recently bought):

I'm waiting for the fabric for backing now. It's pretty nice and easy design :) And perfect to use FQ for it.

'Shattered Rainbow' quilt finished!

I did it. I sewn the back, I quilted it (on my tiny machine) in diagonal lines, binded half by machine half by hand (on the back) and I'm proud of myself :D:D:D (although it looks crincled and wrincled...). My 'Shattered Rainbow' quilt is missing a label only.

Here it is (there's not much more to say to it ;) ):

'Shattered rainbow' quilt top

I think about 3 weeks ago I saw this graphic made by Andy Gilmore:

I was fascinated by the colour combination on this one. There is some order in this mess ;) So... I bought 4 charm packs of Kona cotton (dark, pastel, dusty and classic) to make it. After I finished what I previously planned, I thought the quilt would make a great picknick blanket.

And here it is: 'Shattered rainbow' quilt :D

I've sewn some emerald and candy green border and some more half-squares around. I used those charm squares which I had left. I really used almost all of those 4 charm packs. I'm only left with few blue ones, about 10 red and some brown squares...

I ordered fabric for backing yesterday. Should be here tomorrow and I can't wait to continue... [the fabric for the 'Amethyst quilt' haven't arrived yet... I'm starting to worry. It's about time!]

Hope you like it :)

'Amethyst Ring' quilt - beginnings

Summer is aproaching and I thought that I would like to have a picnic blanket. It took me few days of walking around and thinking about what I want. I wanted something modern, geometric and on dark background.
And in such colours:

So I made a project of my 'Amethyst Ring' quilt using Hope Valley fabrics from Free Spirit (it will measure 63" x 71"):

As I had a FQ bundle of Hope Valley in Fiesta at home, I started with the circle (I changed the inner part slightly).
I use instructions and templates from Lily's Quilts blog and her QAL.

Now I'm waiting for the fabric which I ordered and soon I will continue...
