Disney on Ice

Bela had a blast as we watched Disney on Ice at Araneta Coliseum. The last time we watched a show (The Dora the Explorer show at Aliw Theater), Bela got scared and since then, every time we watched a show, she will rather go out than stay inside the theater.

So when I told Howell that there will be a Disney on Ice show, Howell is really not up to watching it as he thought that Bela might just get scared again. I know that Joaqui of Peachy loves Mickey Mouse and so I had the idea of watching the show with them so Bela has a kid companion in watching which might help her overcome her fears. We also asked the other MBAP mommies if they want to watch with us. We ended up watching the show with Peachy and Joaqui and Jacqui and Sam (look at Jacqui. She just gave birth a few months ago and she is already back to her pre-pregnancy weight. I wish I can find a quick weight loss program that combines eating nutritious foods, exercise and weight loss products to help me loose weight after I give birth).

We met up with Peachy and Joaqui at the food court of Gateway Mall as it is still early. We went inside Araneta around 5:30 PM (show starts at 6 PM) and Bela and Joaqui had a chance to buy a souvenir from the souvenir shop. Bela got the Stitch doll and Joaqui got the Incredibles toy figure. Jacqui and Sam arrived a few minutes before the show.

We got the best seats in the house – front seats facing the ice skating rink which is really a dream come true for the kids as they we’re able to watch their favorite Disney characters up close. Bela kept on running to follow the characters everywhere they went. There was even one character that joined the audience and the kids we’re able to have a short interaction with him.

Bela just loved the show and you can really see the excitement in her face while watching it. She even asked me if we can watch it again the next day. Every penny that Howell spent for our tickets was all worth it.

Dinos Alive Manila Tour

I learned about the Dinos Alive Manila tour even weeks before it open its doors to visitors. But we got really busy during the Christmas season shopping for gifts, wrapping them and putting gift card for all of them that it was only during the last week of the Dinos Alive tour in Manila that we were able to visit the theme park.

The night before I asked Bela is she wants to check out the dinosaurs. I was explaining to her that the dinosaurs will really be big (so at least she knows what to expect and she won’t get scared) and I asked her several times if she really wants to go and this is her answer:

Bela: “Yes, mommy. I want to see the dinosaurs. It is cool and fun.”

So after Bela’s class at Toddlers Unlimited last January 7, they fetched me at work and we fetched Howell before we proceed to the Dinos Alive theme park at Mall of Asia. Bela was really excited upon seeing the pictures of the dinosaurs found outside of the park. But as soon as we enter the park, she started to get scared a bit as it was dark (even I got scared as soon as we enter as the room was really dark and you can see life size dinosaurs just a few inches from you). But we still went inside as she started playing with the smaller dinosaurs. And then she saw the T-rex which was really so big and is making loud sounds and that is when she started to get really scared.

Bela: “We’re finish now, it is time to go out.”
Me: “Oh don’t be scared. They are just big toys.”
Bela: “I love toys, I love toys, I love toys.”
Me: “See. It is cool and fun right?”
Bela: “Yes, they are just toys with big batteries. I love toys, I love toys.”

She even posed in front of the T-rex after she kept on repeating her mantra. But then she saw Long neck which was really huge and really scary. So we hurriedly finished the tour and went out.

When I read the Dinos Alive advertisement, I never really imagined that it will be scary. Good thing Bela did not cry and she at least enjoyed the first part of the tour.

Barney Live in Manila @ SM Cinemas

Barney will have another live show in Manila this coming November. We were able to catch the Barney show last year (you can watch the full story here) and Bela really had so much fun but I was the one who got a bit disappointed though since I was expecting more from the show. I was expecting that the stage will be filled with props and backdrops since that is what I normally see from the live show of Barney that we see on DVD. But instead what they had was a big screen where they show the props and scenes. And so I felt that they could have spend more with the props (as that is what brings the stage come to life) since the price that we paid for the ticket is not cheap.

So when I learned that Barney is having another show here, it made me really think if we should watch it. Add to that the fact that Bela got scared with the last two shows that we watched (Dora the Explorer’s Pirate Adventure at the Aliw Theater and Disney’s Mulan at Greenbelt).

I told hubby about the show and he immediately said No and told me that we should just pass this time and maybe we can try watching show again next year.

Oh well. I still reserved tickets online today (shh, hubby doesn’t know this) so I have at least a day or two to think about it.

From Mulan to Dinosaurs

Last September 12, hubby and I took a day off from work to accompany Bela in watching Mulan Jr at Greenbelt 1 together with all her classmates from Toddlers Unlimited. We arrived early at Greenbelt 1 and so we were able to go inside the theater as soon s the gates were opened. But as soon as the lights went off, Bela started to cry and she kept on saying “Let’s go out, let’s go out!” We tried to convince her to check out the show first but she is really scared that she won’t stop crying.

She started acting like this when we watched the Dora the Explorer show at Aliw Theater. I don’t know why she suddenly got scared as she enjoyed the Sesame Street show (which have giant monster mascots) and the Barney show when we watched it. We thought that she just don’t like the Dora mascot that time and she will soon overcome her fear but we were wrong since she still got scared when we watched Mulan the last time.

So we just decided to leave even if the show is not yet finish and we just decided to go to Robinsons and checked out the Dinosaurs Robotics Exhibit which also opens on that day. And we feel relieved that even though Bela did not start her day right, she had fun watching and posing with the dinosaurs. Here are some pictures,

Dora Show – April 24 / Aliw Theater

We watched the Dora Concert at the Aliw Theater last April 24. And just as I expected, Bela did not enjoy the show.

We bought the tickets right away after I found out of the concert. A few weeks after purchasing our tickets, I saw the sneak peek of the concert at Nick Jr. and I was surprised to see that Dora and Diego is not a mascot but a real person. I got worried because I know that Bela might not like it.

After I read from Jane’s blog that Sophia enjoyed the show, I found a little hope that Bela would love the show too. But I was wrong. She was excited at first when she saw Isa, Benny, Boots and the Map. But after she saw Dora, I’m not sure if she got surprised or scared or what that she wants us to carry her. We will try to divert her attention and she would watch the show for a couple of minutes but then she would start to ask Howell to stand up and carry her again. We are seated at the center aisle and so we can’t stand at the aisle while carrying Bela so Howell took her to the top of the theater while she is warming up. I thought she just needs to warm up for a bit and she will enjoy the show after a while, but she wants Howell to carry her during the entire show. And so we have to leave our seats and move up to the Deluxe seats because Bela prefers to watch the show from there. When we moved to the deluxe seats, she’s more relaxed and she watched the show while Howell was carrying her. She even danced during the last part of the show.

I don’t know what happened because she was able to watch the Sesame Street and Barney show and she did not react this way. Maybe she was thinking that it is not the real Dora performing on stage.

Too bad since the production of the show was good compared to Barney and Sesame Street. They even have a boat as props, they have lots of animals as props too and they change backdrops every now and then.

Oh well, maybe next time. At least she enjoyed some parts of the show. Here are some pictures of the show that I took. And by way, we were able to join the meet and greet with Dora and Diego. It was supposed to be for Nickster members only who won the contest of Nickelodeon. But we saw again the official photographer of the show whom we met when we watched the Sesame Street show and he invited us to have a picture with Dora and Diego during the Meet and Greet.

We have the tickets

We have the tickets. We went to SM Manila last nigth to purchase our tickets for Dora's Pirate Adventure show. My initial plan was to wait until the next day (since our reservation is valid until today at 9:00 PM) so I can still think about it if we will watch the show or not since the tickets are not cheap. But the dad is really decided to let Bela watch the show. Howell said that Bela will surely enjoy it since she is really a big fan of Dora. And since Howell will be paying for the ticket, I did not contradict his decision.

So off we went to SM yesterday to pay for our tickets. Here are our ticket details:

April 24, 2008
6:00 PM
VIP CR
Row F
Seats 1-3

Paging MBAP. If anyone of you will be watching on the said dates, let me know ha. So we can meet up.

Dora the Explorer Show

I just learned from Jane’s blog that Dora and her friends will be having a show here this coming April at the Aliw Theater. I’m always late when it comes to shows like this. I remember, for the Barney show, I just found out about it from Peachy’s blog. Thanks mommies for always posting this kind of information in your blog.

I checked the Ticketnet site and according to them, this is the first time that Dora and her friends will be performing live here in Manila. Bela is a big fan of Dora so for sure she will really love the show.

I talked about it with Howell and he immediately said yes. Since he will have a shoot this coming Saturday, the money that he will be getting for that shoot will cover for our tickets. (Yey!!).

So I immediately called Ticketnet and reserved our tickets. And boy, all front row seats have already been taken. The closest row that I was able to reserve is Row F. Dora must be really famous. LOL. So we will be watching the show on April 24, 6 PM.

Our reservation is valid until tomorrow so we might drop by at SM San Lazaro either today or tomorrow for the tickets. So mommies, if you plan to watch the show too, book your tickets now as tickets really get sold out fast.

No Disney on Ice for Bela

We went to SM after hearing mass at St Jude because we finally decided to buy tickets for the Disney on Ice show. Unfortunately, only General Admission and Upper Box B tickets are available. And knowing how big Araneta Center is, these seats are really far from the stage. So we decided not to take Bela to the show. Maybe it’s really not meant to be. Maybe next year. Disney on Ice is almost a regular show at Araneta. Almost every year or every other year, they have that show.

So next time, we should try to decide and book our tickets early. LOL

Tempting

I just received a text message from my cousin asking me if we will be watching the Disney on Ice with Bela. She just watched the first show yesterday and told me that she is definitely sure that Bela will really enjoy the show.

I really have no plans of taking Bela to watch the show. She had enough concerts already, as she was able to see the Sesame Street and the Barney Live concert. But just like what Bela’s god mother had told me, Disney on Ice is different as she will be ale to see the Disney characters while they are ice skating. And I must admit, I know that Bela will really enjoy it.

But I have different priorities now. Like this Sunday, we’re off to Bohol and I’m saving up for more out of town or out of the country travels this year.

But my cousin’s text is really tempting. We’ll see. The show will run until next week. So I still have a week to test if I can stand not to bring Bela to watch the Disney on Ice Show. Who knows? I’ll be dropping by at SM later. I might check the ticket prices at the Ticketnet booth there. LOL.

Barney Live in Manila

We left the house at 5 Pm for the 7 PM show. I decided to leave early as I’m afraid that there might be a heavy traffic since it’s the Christmas season. But my dad knows a route where there is no traffic so we are already at Araneta by 5:30. We passed by at the main entrance to ask what time they will open the gate for the 7 PM show and then we head to Gateway for merienda. But Bela already saw the big screen showing the commercial for the Barney show inside the coliseum and so she was resiting when we are getting a seat at Pizza Hut to eat. Of course, the lolo gave in to his grand daughter’s whish and he said that we could go inside the coliseum na daw and he will just eat while waiting for us.

The gate is already open when we went back to the entrance and so we decided to go in na din. Thanks to Peachy’s tip, we we’re able to sneak in our SLR camera. Walang hassle at di ko na kailangang mag emote sa security guard. I just covered it with Bela’s diapers and the Barney stuffed toy and naipasok namin sya agad. (And maybe they’re more lenient na since it’s the last show na). Peachy gave me a tip also to go to the booth of Enfakid for a free pictorial with their Barney standee. So habang wala pang gaanong tao, we we’re able to avail of two free pictures from Enfakid. Then we just bought our food and went inside na.

Bela was starting to get a little scared when they dimmed the light inside when it’s almost time for the show to start. She wants me to carry her and she was hugging me and she was starting to have tantrums already. But right after seeing Barney when he came out of the stage, oh boy, she started to sing already and she was jumping with joy.

The Security permitted the kids to go in front of the stage. I tried to bring Bela there but she doesn’t want to be away from me and only kids are allowed to stay in front of the stage. So doon na lang kami umupo, sa center aisle ng first row. Pero noong medyo dumadami na yung tao, nag aya na si Bela back to our seats.

Naku, super sulit talaga yung ticket namin at super enjoy si Bela. She was dancing and singing and doing the action for the songs. After the show, she kept on saying “Watch Barney” and she was kissing and hugging her Barney stuffed toy. Hanggang sa car, nanggigigil sa tuwa at tili ng tili sabay kiss ulit kay Barney. Hay, like Joaqui, number one fan din talaga ni Barney si Bela.

Sharing some of the pictures that my sister took.

Side Kwento: While waiting for the show to start, there were staffs going around selling Barney souvenirs. I saw Bela standing in front of the staff selling the souvenirs and she was intently looking at the Barney items. So I asked her. “What do you want baby?” And then I told her she can get one thing there that she wants. She was holding a straw and right after hearing what I said, she immediately gave me the straw she was holding and then said “Ch-Chu.” (Thank You). Hay, nadurog na naman ang puso ko kaya kahit wala ako balak bumili dahil nga ang mahal (OA ang price), napabili tuloy ako ng plastic watch ng di oras kahit di ko type. LOL.
