My dear friends,

It has been a while... I hope you are all well and creative ☺️

I missed being here for the last two years or so, but there have been some changes in my life that kept me from posting. And creating for that matter.

I moved to Great Britain! 😊 There were lots of new things to take in, so unfortunately my passion got pushed aside... 😕

As I'm contemplating on my new life, there are tons of decisions to be made. Like the fate of my blog... Should I let it die, or should I revive it to a better future...? 🤔

I put too much effort in it to just let it go to waste.

So I decided to rehome it. If I moved to a different country, my blog can move to a new home, too! ☺️

So stay tuned, and bare with me, because there's quite a lot of work to do before I can open the doors of the new home! 😉

decoupage wall hanging with magnolia / magnóliás dekupázsolt tabló natúr fakerettel

First of all, happy new year to all of you! May you achieve all your goals, fulfill all your dreams, and get all the love that you wish for!
I missed posting on my blog, so today, in the middle of a cold, endless winter, craving for a little warmth and sunshine, and hoping for the spring, I share with you one of last year's creations: a gift for my dear Mom, on her birthday, with all the love of my heart!
It has nothing to do with quilling (it's one of those rare pieces), but is still handmade. The reason for this is because I fell in love with that rice paper, the colours, the shapes, because it represents one of the first blooming tree flowers in spring: the magnolia. Have you ever passed under a magnolia tree and sniffed its brain-tickling, wonderful aroma? It's a delightful scent, and a heart-warming view to see those big, lovely flowers wake the dry, gray tree to life.
I wanted to capture a piece of spring, so I glued the rice paper on a canvas. Making the frame was a bit more difficult. I imagined something natural that would still be in contrast with the softness of the picture. So I went into the woods and collected some dry, good looking bark, cut it to the shapes I needed and glued them to the canvas.
It looks wonderful on Mom's pale green wall in the bedroom :)

Hosszas hallgatás után, így a hideg, hosszú tél közepén, amikor csak amúgy sóvárgok a tavasz melege után, meg szeretnék osztani veletek egy alkotást, ami ajándékként keszült Édesanyámnak szülinapjára, szívem minden szeretetével!
Ez egy olyan darab, aminek semmi köze a quillinghez, de attól még kezem munkája. Egyszerűen beleszerettem ebbe a csodás rizspapírba, hiszen a magnóliát, a tavasz elsőként virágzó fáját juttatta eszembe.
Mentetek már el magnóliafa alatt, amikor az teljesen virágbaborulva pompázott? Fenséges illat lengi körül, a látvány pedig egyszerűen lenyűgöző!
Meg akartam örökíteni a tavasznak egy icipici lehelletét, ezért a rizspapírt egy festővászonra ragasztottam dekupázsragasztóval. Valami természetes keretet képzeltem el ennek a képnek, így hosszas mérlegelés után natúr fakéreg mellett döntöttem. Az erdőben bóklászva találtam néhány szép darab kérget, a megfelelő méretre vágása és ragasztása nem volt könnyű művelet, de megért minden fáradságot!
Most fantasztikusan néz ki Anyuka hálószobájában a zöld falon :)

Hello world! How are you? I'm very well, I have been working on so many wonderful projects that are still waiting to be shown.
I'll start with this wall clock with a slightly vintage note, that would be a perfect gift for ladybug lovers :)
The base of the clock is a piece of medium density fibreboard to which I glued a beautiful scrapbook paper bought from here.
The ladybugs crawling around the flowers were really fun to make, but not that easy when it came to the largest size (almost 10 cm), she constantly tried to escape from my fingers :) I got pissed off and glued her to the base so she would stay there forever! Of course neither the rest of the bugs could escape from the wrath of the glue... They finally settled down among the flowers and the wooden numbers to the delight of ladybug admirers.
The piece became a whole when I attached the hands and the clockwork, and it began to tick-tock-tick-tock...

Sziasztok! Rég nem találkoztunk itt a blogon, azóta dolgozgattam szorgosan, szép sorjában meg szeretném mutatni nektek, hogy milyen alkotások készültek el időközben.
Kezdeném egy faliórával, amit katibogarak díszítenek, természetesen quilling technikával készültek :)
A falióra alapja egy mdf lemez, amire egy kétoldalú scrapbook papírt ragasztottam. Milyen kár, hogy ezeknek a gyönyörű papíroknak nem lehet mindkét oldalát egyszerre felhasználni... :)
A lap tetejére kerültek a katicák, kisebbek, nagyobbak, Isten tudja hány méter quillingpapírból születtek meg...
Szépen elhelyezkedtek a virágok meg a számok között, és szinte kész is a falióra. Csak a mutatókat meg az óraszerkezetet kellett csatolni, és máris életre kelt, vidáman ketyegett :)

Since this is my first post this year, I guess I owe you a "Happy New Year" my dear friends! May this year be full of happiness and accomplishments, and of course, filled with creative moments!
And I owe you sooo many posts, because there are so many photos of my creations waiting to be shown to the world...
I had a hard time choosing which one to post first. And because spring is approaching, at least according to the calendar, and I'm longing for it with my every heartbeat, let this quilled little bird on a leafy, flowery branch be the one.
This card was made for the 70th birthday anniversary of a special lady, with the wish that her heart be always filled with spring joy.

Mivel idén először találkozom veletek itt a blogomon, hadd kívánjak nektek, kedves barátaim, egy vidám, szeretetteljes, kreatív új évet!
Nagyon sok bejegyzéssel tartozom nektek, hiszen eléggé felhalmozódtak a bemutatásra váró alkotásaim...
Nehezen tudtam eldönteni melyikkel is kezdjem. Választásom végül is erre a kis tavaszváró üdvözletre esett, hiszen szívem mélyén nagyon vágyom már a megújulás évszakára, s amúgy a naptár szerint is hamarosan eljön az ideje.
Az üdvözletet egy különleges hölgy hetvenedik születésnapjára készítettem, azzal az üzenettel, hogy lelkében maradjon mindig fiatal, ahogy minden tavaszban ott van a megújulás lehetősége.

I have been making paper jewelry for a while now, just for myself, just for the fun of it, so I can have enough options when I get dressed in the morning and want to match something with my clothes.
I decided to share my present collection with you. Some models were inspired from other fantastic and talented handmade artists, others were created by me. I hope there will be more :)
The stand is my own creation, I curled it from 1mm thick wire.

Régóta készítem a papír fülbevalókat. Csak úgy, magamnak, szórakozásképpen, meg hogy legyen miből válogatnom reggel mikor öltözöm, hogy minden színű ruhámhoz akadjon találó darab.
Most megmutatom nektek is a jelenlegi készletemet. Néhány modellhez az inspiráció más tehetséges kézműves társamtól jött, néhányat saját elképzelés alapján alkottam. Remélem lesz alkalmam többet is készíteni :)
Az állvány az én alkotásom, 1 mm vastagságú drótból készítettem.

I can't explain, but when autumn comes, I start longing for spring. The seasons probably shifted a bit inside me :) This wall clock with ladybugs also evokes a spring mood, but the friend whom I made it for loves ladybugs in every season, in every size and shape :)
The base of the clock is a decoupaged napkin, but the 12 ladybugs in a circle are quilled, of course :)

Nem tudom, hogy van ez, de ősszel mindig tavaszra vágyom. Lehet, hogy az évszakok kicsit eltolódtak bennem :) Ez a katibogaras falióra is tavaszi hangulatot idéz, de akinek készült, az minden évszakban és minden formában kedveli a katicákat :)

It looks like I have found the rightful owner of the design! Better yet, she found me :)
Her name is Nikolett Deli, she is from Hungary, and she was inspired to create this wonderful piece of quilling by her upcoming wedding. She first posted it in a Hungarian blog entitled Colourful Ideas (see the link here).
Her framed work is waaay bigger than mine, the wall hanging found its place in Nikolett's home, see her picture below.

Quilling is all about swirls and curls... My eyes are formed to observe every shape that is wavy, curly, quillingy... wait... that's not a word... :) but every true quiller knows the essence of that notion...
This reminds me of one of my favorite quotes back from school, from William Blake:

"To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour."

This is how I see the possibility of quilling in everything... even on a shoebox :) Yepp, I'm not kidding, I saw this beautiful design on a box that was ready to be thrown out, and I decided to save it for eternity :) It happened in a fraction of a second that I fell in love with it... So fresh, airy, mystical... the promise of spring... The quilling part was ready in one night, because my mind wouldn't let me rest until I finished it...

Egy quilling-őrült agya minden kacskaringós, hullámos, körkörös formára bekattan... Aki foglalkozik vele tudja... ugye ismeritek az érzést? valahol, bármilyen felületen is legyen az, egy szép dizájnban meglátni a quilling lehetőségét...

Erről jut eszembe egy iskoláskoromban tanult William Blake idézet, aminek több magyar fordítása is van, de nekem ez a legszimpatikusabb:

"Egy homokszemben lásd meg a világot,

Egy vadvirágban a fénylő eget,

Egy órában az örökkévalóságot,

S tartsd tenyeredben a végtelent!"

Ugye milyen csodálatos egy ilyen felismerés, hogy valamiben többet látsz, mint az egyszerű földi halandók, megláthatod a benne rejlő lehetőséget, s tudod, hogy szebbé, jobbá varázsolhatod?

Erre a gyönyörű modellre egy cipősdoboz tetején bukkantam rá, és egyből beleszerettem. Egyből arra gondoltam, hogy én ezt a dizájnt bizony quillingre fogom kivitelezni... tökéletes a vonalvezetés, látjátok a hullámokat és a kacskaringókat? Hát ez lett belőle...

És még egyszer bebizonyosodott, hogy érdemes nyitott szemmel és szívvel járni a világban, mert sosem tudod milyen kincsre bukkansz :)

Here's one of my favourite projects. The design is not mine, I was presented a photo with a quilled bride and asked to make a card with something similar. I searched the net but didn't manage to find the original piece of work, however, I saw several versions of this beautiful design, and now, here's my own. I'm quite pleased with the outcome :)

First of all I would like to wish all of you a very happy, hopeful and creative new year! May it bring us more love and patience towards each other and joy in everything we do!
I know a new year usually begins with promises and resolutions... I don't want to promise anything, but I'll try to catch up with all the things I created in the past year and never got to post...
I'm going to start with a few quilled cards that I made for my colleagues' birthdays, they allegedly liked them, I hope you will, too :)

Elsősorban boldog, reményteljes, kreatív új évet kívánok mindannyiotoknak! Hozzon ez a új év több szeretetet és türelmet egymás iránt és leljünk örömöt mindenben amit teszünk!
Nincs újévi fogadalmam és ígéretem, de igyekszem bepótolni a hosszas hiányzásomat a blogon... Tavaly sokmindent készítettem, ami még nem fogalmazódott meg ezen az oldalon, ezért kezdeném is néhány quilling üdvözlettel, amelyekkel néhány szülinapos kollégámat leptem meg. Nekik állítólag tetszett, remélem nektek is fog :)

the story of a wall hanging / egy tabló története

So we meet again for a piece of decoupage... I would't exactly call it a tutorial, because these pictures don't reflect the best practice for this technique, but I want to show you how I did it, what I learnt from this experience, because I'm still at the beginning.
I guess I never had so many pictures in one post :) They're not the best quality, and I can tell you it's a lousy idea to use flash when taking a picture, but hey... I work best at night, and took me a few hours to complete this wall hanging. (When I start a project I'm so eager to see it finished, that I can't stop until I'm done :)) So I had to take pictures in my very dark room, and my only source of light besides the bulb was the flash of the camera. It's not professional, I know, there's always room for improvement, but in lack of something better I have to settle for these now... I hope you'll understand the essentials.

This is how the final piece turned out... I call it "Euphoria" :)
Do you know that feeling, when you enjoy something so much (like Beethoven's symphonies for instance) that you let yourself get carried away and your thoughts and emotions melt into a delicious swirl that has no end and no beginning? I can't find words to best describe it, just gives me the chills...
So Beethoven could be a metaphor for... anything you want :)

I worked on a piece of medium density fiber board, that is already painted white on one side. I imagined the napkin on a square platform, but since I had only rectangular ones, I had to rethink the project. I unfolded the napkin and cut one quarter of it, I needed only this one since the pattern is repeated on the other sides.

I could have chosen to place the napkin in the middle, but didn't want to. It would be too common... I placed sticky paper tape onto the board as to leave a blank in the middle right the size of the napkin.

Carefully separated the top layer of the napkin from the other two (it's easier for beginners to work with rice paper or decoupage paper, so I hear, the napkin is very thin and can accidentally be torn )

Here's a trick I learned from a colleague: a piece of transparent plastic foil (of about 1mm thick) can come in handy right now. Do you remember from school how very light objects like thin plastic bags or hair are attracted to plastic rulers if rubbed against your t-shirt?
I placed the foil over the neatly arranged napkin and gently scoured a few times. It's electrifying :)

The thin napkin just sticks to the plastic sheet. I took the foil with the napkin layer and put it aside, I would need it later.

I applied a fair amount of the decoupage glue on the square surface (it was too much as it turned out later...)

and carefully placed it inside the square, gently pressed to let the air bubbles out and smooth the wrinkles.

I didn't notice it so far when using this technique, but the napkin kind of strung out after it got wet...

And now you can see the result of me applying waaaay too much adhesive: wrinkled, bubbly, even though I tried to smooth it out with the foil. I have to solve this problem somehow...

I used a piece of damp sponge, because the napkin would stick to my fingers, and gently pressed on the problematic areas. As I lately learned from an expert, I need to put only a very thin layer of decoupage glue on the base, just enough for the napkin to stick to it and the glue doesn't penetrate the layer of paper, so I can work more easily on the surface. That way I could press with my fingers or fingernails to smooth the wrinkles out.

This is how it looks after almost drying. I guess I can work on the wrinkles now, too.

After it dried completely I applied another layer of decoupage glue onto the surface.

I like to use the roller sponge because I can spread the glue more evenly than with a brush.

When this second layer of adhesive dries, the surface gets a silky shine.

The sticking of the napkin is over, so I can remove the paper tape from the margins. I had to use a cutter to clear away the excess of napkin as well. Press very gently along the line, because the edge of the cutter is very sharp and you don't want to cut through the base!

Gently peeled off the tape...

Ta-daaaa... Well, this looks pretty naked... But chill, it's not over yet :)

And now, ladies and gentlemen, comes the difficult part: antiquing, using a crackle varnish with 2 components...
Always start with number one. Logical, isn't it? :)
Here are some tips I found on eHow:

"Apply a coat of crackle varnish using a paintbrush. Paint lightly in one direction. Don't go over the same area twice with your paintbrush. Let the crackle varnish dry. Apply a thin coat of crackle medium for thin cracks and apply a thick coat for larger cracks."

So here's a layer of varnish (first component) which has to be pretty thick to prepare the ground for the crackle medium (second component), but not too thick, otherwise it wouldn't dry properly.

As I found out later, the best solution is to let the varnish dry on room temperature, or even cool air, because the hot air of the hairdryer ruins the final effect... Hot air dries only the surface of the varnish, and this can be misleading. Well, I didn't know that at the moment, was in a hurry as well because I wanted to finish the project in on night, so I used the hairdryer... and also put the piece of mdf on the radiator to give it all the heat possible to dry quickly...(I say it again: not advisable!)
There are some things that can't be rushed... you have to allow events to take their natural course... and they are definitely worth waiting for... for a maximum effect. So be patient :) (I kind of say this to myself... :-P)

It seemed dry to me...

So I applied the second component, the crackle medium, which is already transparent so I had to be very careful where I applied it, in order not to go over the same area twice... (well this mistake is inevitable at the beginning... professionals already know how thick a layer should be, in what direction should the brush go and so on. Apparently you have to choose your brush wisely then you come to the best practice conclusions by experimenting. A lot. This is Sólyom Gabriella's advice, who's an acknowledged decoupage expert for the Hungarian Pentacolor firm, maker of the Pentart brand. You can see her blog here, with so many wonderful creations, ideas and advice. It is in Hungarian, but you can always use Google translate for a basic understanding of the presented ideas.)

The cracks started to appear after a while (I used the hairdryer again to rush the drying process) but they are very hard to see with the naked eye.

In order to highlight the cracks I used bitumen, a very dark and very stinky liquid. I applied it with a piece of sponge but you can also use a piece of cloth that you don't need anymore.

Very little is more than enough! I think I put too much all at once and it darkened the whole surface. Theoretically the excess can be wiped off, but you have to work quickly! I should have applied a coat of transparent varnish before the bitumen, because without the lacquer the surface absorbed the dark patina.

Well, at least the cracks are visible now... :) They are so small because of the hot air from the hairdryer. They would have been bigger if I had let the crackle varnish dry on its own.

Here's a spot where I went over the same area twice (at least that's what I think it happened because it didn't crack)

I finished decoupaging, then I started to make the frame. I used one thread, cut it only once because it annoyed me that the skein kept rolling away :) Just a few hours work :) I glued the yarn with decoupage glue at first, then switched to universal hobby glue that proved to be even better.

I used about half the skein for this design (don't ask how many meters, because I have no idea), then it seemed too raw... I tried to apply a little golden antiquing paste on the thread to see how it looked but it wasn't the effect I expected :(

So I eventually painted the whole thread frame with ivory acrylic color...

...then applied a coat of solvent based transparent lacquer for protection and a little shine.

It still seemed a little "naked", I felt like something's missing...

So I tried the antiquing paste again... It looked okay to me this time... :)

Here's the final piece, imperfect as it may be, but hey, practice makes perfect :) I'm still experimenting!

It has been a long time since my last post, because I've been busy experimenting with some new stuff for a while now (well, I guess it's new for me, not everyone) :)
Since I've been working at an art & hobby shop (http://www.arthobbycreativ.ro/) I have come across many interesting materials, products related to different handmade techniques, and if you're an artistic soul, you truly know how it is: you're curious about everything, how it looks, how it smells, how it feels like and most of all, how it works :) My mind sets off on a wonderful journey of endless possibilities, can't stop it, not even when I go to bed :) Ideas flash in my head and they are pretty hard to catch... but when I grab one, that's when a piece of handmade is created...
My first experiments are in the field of decoupage, you'll see some pictures below of a few pieces I've created since summer (in random order). I used paper napkins for these.

Újra itt egy elég hosszú szünet után, miközben nem lustálkodtam, hanem kísérletezgettem valami újjal (talán inkább számomra újdonsággal) :)
Amióta egy fantasztikus hobby boltban dolgozom (a bolt honlapját megtekinthetitek itt: http://www.arthobbycreativ.ro/) rengeteg új kézműves tehnikával és az ezekkel kapcsolatos termékekkel ismerkedhettem meg, és ha picit is művészlélek vagy, akkor ismered az érzést: kíváncsi vagy milyen a tapintása, milyen az illata, s főleg hogyan működik, hogyan használható. Ilyenkor szárnyra kap a képzeletem, cikáznak a gondolatok a fejemben, fantasztikus gyorsasággal, és elég nehéz egy ilyen villanást elkapni... De mikor megvan, és kezd letisztulni, akkor születik egy kis alkotás is :)
Első kísérleteim a dekupázs (vagy szalvétatechnika) terén folynak, alább láthattok pár képet néhány munkámról, amik a nyár óta készültek (nem feltétlenül időrendi sorrendben). Ezekhez a munkákhoz papírszalvétát használtam.

This one is paper napkin decoupage on glass, and the frame is acrylic paint. If you're a beginner in this technique I recommend not to start with working on glass surfaces, however, if you do, choose your paintbrush wisely and keep calm to have a steady hand :)

Ezt a szalvétát üvegtányérra dekupázsoltam, a keret pedig akrilfesték. Ha te is kezdő vagy ezen a téren, azt javasolom, hogy ne kezdj el üvegen dolgozni... ha mégis, akkor jól válaszd meg az ecsetet amivel dolgozol, és nyugodtan fogj neki, hogy ne reszkessen a kezed :)

This one is actually recycled decoupage... I used an empty liquid soap bottle and an old and wrinkled wrapping paper to cover it. I thought it might come in handy when I receive a single rose from someone I love :)

Ez a darab újrahasznosítás eredménye: egy üres folyékony szappanos műanyag flakont vontam be egy régi, gyűrött csomagolópapír darabbal, amit csak azért tartogattam, hogy talán valamikor jó lesz valamire... Hát eljött az ő ideje is :) Így lett belőle ez a kis váza, ami pont kapóra jön, ha valaki meglep egy szál rózsával :)

This piece started with the napkin: I saw it and loved it... the idea of making something out of it developed slowly as I stumbled across some brown adhesive sheet that imitates leather, in the dustbin of the shop I work at. Yeaaaahhh, recycling sometimes includes some dirty work :) and being creative, and being at the right time in the right place and seeing the right things... And the picture started to become clear... I glued the napkin to the center of a medium density fibreboard, I covered some cardboard with this brown foil, and used it as a frame... I love how it complements the colours of the napkin :)

Ez a kis tabló a szalvétával kezdődött: megláttam és megszerettem. Néha egy pillantás is elég... :) Azonnal tudtam, hogy szeretnék kezdeni valamit vele, csak nem tudtam még mit. A kép akkor kezdett összeállni, amikor a hobbybolt kukájában ráakadtam egy kis bőrutánzatú öntapadó fóliára... hát igen, az újrahasznosítás jegyében egy kis piszkos munkát is lehet végezni :) s azonkívül csak a kreativitáson múlik, meg azon, hogy a kellő helyen legyünk kellő időben és észrevegyük a megfelelő dolgokat. Tehát nekiláttam feldekupázsolni a szalvétát egy préseltlemez közepére, a fóliát pedig vékony, méretre szabott kartondarabokra ragasztottam fel, így lett a tablónak kerete. Nagyon tetszik, ahogyan kiegészíti a szalvéta színeit :)

I believe that nothing is lost, everything changes... you know like in the law of energy conservation :) So did this little brown cardboard box; it changed: someone wanted to throw it out, but I was in the right place at the right time and saved it :) I gave it a more colourful future :) I coated the box with white primer, then came the paper napkin and some acrylic paint. The shine is from the extra layer of decoupage glue which also serves as a varnish, because it becomes fully transparent when it dries.

Úgy vélem semmi sem vész el, hanem minden átalakul... tudjátok, mint az energiamegmaradás törvényénél :) Így járt ez a kis barna doboz is, átalakult. Valaki ki akarta dobni, de szerencsére ott voltam a megfelelő helyen, a megfelelő időben, és megmentettem egy szomorú sorstól... helyette szép színes jövőt biztosítottam neki :) A barna dobozkát fehér alapozóval mázoltam be, erre jött a szalvéta meg egy kis akrilfesték. A diszkrét csillogás a dekupázs ragasztónak köszönhető, ami egyben lakként is működik, hiszen száradás után átlátszóvá válik.

And recycling again :) I never throw out anything that I believe at some point might become useful after it served its original purpose. You know what I mean? Giving it a second chance... Especially if it has some emotional value as well (I got this box of chocolate from a very dear friend of mine, whom I see so rarely, and miss her so much...). So it came with love... and after the great transformation (which captured a part of my soul) went away with love... (I gave it to another friend as a gift for her birthday)
The dark box had to be coated with several layers of grounding to cover the strong colors completely. I glued the checked paper napkin only on the top part, and added some quilled flowers for 3d decoration (I couldn't help it, you know quilling is my thing :) ), oh, and some punched leaves.

Ismét újrahasznosítás :) Sosem dobok ki semmit amiről úgy vélem, hogy talán valamikor még hasznát vehetem, miután eredeti célját betöltötte. Afféle második esély :) S főleg akkor nehéz megválni valamitől, ha érzelmi értéke van (ezt a doboz csokit egy nagyon kedves barátnőmtől kaptam, akivel nagyon ritkán találkozom, és aki nagyon hiányzik...) Tehát szeretettel jött hozzám, és a nagy átváltozás után (amibe beletettem szívem-lelkem) szeretettel adtam tovább (egy másik barátnőmnek, szülinapjára).
A sötét dobozkát fehér akrillal alapoztam, több rétegben is szükség volt, hogy egészen takarja az erős színeket, majd ezután a tető részére dekupázsoltam a kockás szalvétát. Néhány quilling virággal díszítettem, 3d-s hatás kedvéért, hiszen tudjátok, a quilling a nagy szerelmem kézművesség terén :)

quilled eagle card / sasfej üdvözleten

I have always been fascinated by the mysterious, piercing eyes, intense gaze of the eagle. As if it looks right through me and knows my every thought even before I do.
The drawing was made about 7 years ago, when I had no idea about quilling... I just played around with a pencil on a boring afternoon... but now... when quilling is my passion... I had to try this, it was a challenge :) Of course, I had to resort to my old friend, the pencil, for a little shadowing ;) So here's to a deep gaze, I hope you like it :)
I love what the eagle symbolizes: "When it rains, most birds head for shelter. The Eagle is the only bird that in order to avoid the rain, starts flying above the cloud." So it's all about attitude, people!

heart shaped photo frame / szív alakú képkeret

This one is a custom made photo frame for a very sweet couple :) The frame itself is cardboard cut out in heart shape then painted with acrylic red paint and coated with water based transparent lacquer for a pretty shine. The decoration is quilling, of course :)

Évfordulós ünneplésre készült ez a képkeret egy kedves párnak. Az alapot vastagabb kartonból vágtam ki, lefestettem piros akrilfestékkel, majd átlátszóra száradó vízalapú lakkal vontam be, egy kis csillogás kedvéért. A díszítés természetesen quillinggel készült :)

paper flower basket / papírvirágok kosárban

I guess I fell in love with Manuela Koosch's white flowers... You can see them here. They are sooo beautiful! I decided to make a paper flower basket for a very dear friend of mine, and I was inspired by Manu's daisies, but I used a six petal flower punch and had 4 layers for a flower, then the fringed yellow middle was so easy to make with a quilling fringer and not with the scissors as I made fringed flowers until now...
The roses are made of heart punches, smaller punch for the smaller roses and a larger punch for the big ones. I glued the petals together using a hot glue gun, nearly burned myself several times, so I have to be careful when in a hurry...
The basket was an older creation, made of modular origami in white (see my earlier flower baskets), then covered with brown paint and coated with golden glittery lacquer.
I just hope my friend likes the outcome :)

Egy kedves barátnőmnek készült ez a kiskosár ajándékba. A fehér virágokat Manuela Koosch gyönyörű margarétái ihlették, csak én hatszögű virág alakú lyukasztót használtam a szirmok elkészítéséhez. A sárga közép elkészítéséhez nagy hasznomra volt egy kis papírvágó szerkentyű, a rózsák pedig szív alakú lyukasztó segítségével készültek el, szirmaikat szilikonpisztollyal ragasztottam össze.
A kosár régebb született, 3d-s vagy moduláris origamival, fehér papírból, amit később barnára festettem és bemázoltam arany csillogású akril lakkal. A kosár sokáig üresen állt a polcomon, talán várta a megfelelő pillanatot, a megfelelő virágokat no meg azt az embert akié lehessen...

quilled wooden box / fadoboz quilling díszítéssel

This is my first try at decorating a wooden box with quilled ornaments. The motifs of the Hungarian folk tales seem to be haunting me :) I coated the quilling with shiny, transparent lacquer for protection. The box will be a gift from a sweet boy to his sweet girl :)

Most először próbálok fadobozkát quilling technikával díszíteni, de nem is sokban különbözik a papír alaptól. Ez alkalommal is a magyar népmesék motívumát kérték, hiszen a doboz ajándék lesz, egy kedves fiútól, egy kedves lány részére :)

This summer season is playing hot and cold tricks with us... It's more like spring today. It's raining outside and I'm cold in the apartment.
And to my surprise I came across some photos of an older quilling of mine, a cherry blossom tree branch, which I made sometime in April, and haven't posted it yet. It was inspired by another card I made for last year's Easter holidays. But since spring is my favorite season, I'm going to show you this card whatever month it is :) It actually went to Lionel in Belgium :)

origami butterfly / origami lepke

I missed doing some origami... it has been all about quilling lately. So I tried my hand at folding some butterflies. I enjoyed making especially the Alexander swallowtail butterflies, following the precise video tutorial of Michael LeFosse, which you can find here, or the wonderful demonstration of the same model by Tadashi Mori in a youtube video, which yo can see here. These are just a few small butterflies, but I imagine a room full of bigger and colourful ones like for a wedding... it must be gorgeous! :)

Rég nem origamiztam... hiányzott már a papírhajtogatás, hiszen az utóbbi időben inkább a quillinggel voltam elfoglalva. Most kipróbáltam néhány pillangó modellt, amik közül leginkább a fecskefarkú lepke tetszett meg. Kissé nehezebb a hajtogatása mint a többié, de az eredmény is mutatósabb. Michael LeFosse illetve Tadashi Mori videóit követve (többször is, ne gondoljátok, hogy elsőre sikerült :) ) tudtam elkészíteni ezt a csodálatos modellt. Ez csak néhány lepke a gyűjteményemben, de elképzelek egy termet sok-sok ilyen színes pillangóval, különleges eseményekre... csodálatos lehet :)

photo frame with roses / rózsás képkeret

Hi all!
I haven't made any photo frames recently, so here's one, created for a sweet little girl's christening. The base is cardboard, painted with white acrylic paint. I wanted to make flowers and butterflies, but the other butterflies flew off and only this one remained :)
For the roses I was inspired by Sonia's tutorial from Gustamonton, I just love her videos! For the leaves I used punches and quilling, something simple to highlight the flowers. When I finished decorating the frame, I coated the whole thing with water based, transparent, shiny lacquer to protect it.

Már rég nem készítettem képkeretet, éppen itt volt az ideje, hogy megmutassam legújabb alkotásomat. Ez a keret egy aranyos kislány keresztelőjére készült ajándékba, egy kis tavaszi hangulatot szerettem volna belevinni a virágokkal és a lepkével. A keret alapja vastag karton, ezt vontam be fehér akrilfestékkel. A rózsák készítéséhez Sonia videójából merítettem ihletet, a virágok mellé pedig lyukasztóval illetve quilling technikával készítettem leveleket. A végeredményt átlátszó fényes lakkal mázoltam be.
Remélem tetszeni fog :)

black and white quilled earrings / fehér-fekete quilling fülbevalók

Hellooooooo world!!! I've been a little busy, and maybe a little bit lazy lately... to post anything :) But here I am to show you the things I've created recently. This is my first serious attempt in quilling jewelry after my paper and beads pendant. I was asked to make some black and white earrings for my dear colleague and friend, Imola, whom I wish to thank for modelling for me :) (I made three pairs because the ideas kept coming... and so she can choose the one she likes better :) ). She'll wear one of these on a wedding tomorrow, I hope it complements her lovely black and white dress ;) And hopefully there won't be any rain tomorrow, otherwise we'll find out what happens to the earrings if they get wet :)
I hope you like them, I really enjoyed making these... I'll have to make time to try out other ideas as well :)

Hosszas kimaradás után újra jelentkezem valami papírkészítménnyel! Az idő meg egy icipici lustaság :) nem hagyta, hogy újabb blogbejegyzésekkel rukkoljak elő, de igyekszem mielőbb pótolni a mulasztásomat, és megmutatni nektek mikkel foglalkoztam szabadidőmben. Most a legfrissebb alkotásaimat tárom elétek: íme az első komoly quilling ékszer próbálkozásaim a papír-gyöngy nyakék óta. A fülcsik kedves munkatársnőmnek és barátnőmnek, Imolának készültek a fekete-fehér ruhája mellé kiegészítőnek, amit holnap egy esküvőn szeretne hordani. Egy párral indult a próbálkozás, de az újabb ötletek nem hagytak nyugodni, és lett három pár... legyen miből választani :) Ezúton is szeretném megköszönni Imolának a modellkedést, jobban mutatnak a fülcsik egy lányon, mint az asztalon ;) Remélem tetszeni fognak, és azt is, hogy holnap nem fog esni az eső, különben megtudjuk mi történik a quilling fülbevalókkal, ha megáznak :)
