Malaysia, my heart.

Venue: Kuantan, Pahang.

Dear daisy,
I am in journey of self discovery, after long holiday from writing (more snapping and eat-outings) and busy with lab works. It has been more than two and half years since I left this country of endless sunshine. On the very first day, I was drenched in sweat and had to take little adjustment of using an extra deodorant and purfume (and three times a day shower).

Being back is great, forget the crispy and golden season - embrace the monsoon!

I am extremely tired and strucked with severe homesickness - which causing me to lose some weight,  almost anemic (with very very low iron - perhaps due to my laziness to cook meals with red meat) and countless sleepless nights. I know I need this holiday, in fact I am enjoying it but there were few incidents that disappointing me a bit such as Malaysian drivers and hospitality.

Nevertheless, studying in the UK doesnt make me less Malaysian or more orang putih. I try to keep my feet on the ground and my mouth shut from pouting like an ajuma  (Or a joyah). Thankfully, my mom helped a lot by pulling me off from over expressing my disappointment - although i hate to be treated like a kid.

I love this country, along with its long beautiful coastal line and mouth watering food. My journey so far has taught me valuable lessons about life, putting priorities first from need.

On drivers
We experienced a few near accident episodes during overtakes involving oil tanks, lorries and small cars (city cars). To my perspective, I believe that we need surveillance cameras at accident prone corners where a lot of drivers tend to speed.

AES came at the right time when we need such service - to safeguard motorists from arrogant road users. Only what disappoint the most are the fact on how AES contract was given and its overpriced cameras.

There goes my yadddaa yaddaaa about politics.

honey bee syndrome

dear daisy,

the news about blue and green honey in france - buzzed me to write something about honey bee syndrome, as it also relates to my research on sugar chemistry. it is puzzling on how those bees could produce  colorful honey from M&Ms plant nearby.

bees have specific enzymes in their cells to convert specific sugar into honey. unlike sucrose and glucose, mannose is lethal to honeybees. this honey bee syndrome cause the sudden death to the bees due to its low amount of enzyme to metabolize the sugar, causing a bottleneck, restricting energy metabolism and causing abnormality or arrested development.

i'm not sure the relation of artificial coloring from M&Ms and bee metabolism -  entomologist alert!!!!!

let's see who is with me to test the effect of M&Ms' on human.... surely could win me an Ig Nobel prize next year!

it's great to write again after 2 months on paper and work.
