The ever-brilliant Rich at FourFour has compiled a montage of your favorite reality-show cliche (and mine), the ol' "I'm not here to make friends":
What's missing is a montage of clips of these brilliant Masters of the Obvious who feel the need to remind us every so often that what we are watching is, in fact, a competition. I would be as happy as a little girl to see that.

Project Runway After Party - Season 4
Season Finale: Congratulations, Christian!

Christian Siriano wins Season 4 of Project Runway, and I think it was well deserved. With all of the bitchiness and all of the Fierce aside, his collection was edgy, modern, and way stylish.
I did, however, love Rami's woven gown and the one with the 1930's vintage lace. Gorgeous.
Jillian's collection was alright, but after a while, the models just looked so drab and robot-like, just like her. So that was a turnoff for me. Not fierce.

Project Runway After Party - Season 4
Episode 12: The Reunion Show (aka NINAGARZILLA)
I didn't think there was anything too spectacular about this reunion show, so I'd just like to leave you with my observations.
Be sure to check out Blogging Project Runway's Recapalooza for recaps from other Project Runway freaks like me.
I didn't think there was anything too spectacular about this reunion show, so I'd just like to leave you with my observations.
- Why do bangs look so much better on other people (and by "other people," I mean "Heidi Klum") except me?
- Why was Victorya upset about Jack leaving?
- Why did the camera immediately cut to Victorya when the designers complained about eating so much Chinese take out?
- I think it's safe to assume that the entire cast and crew of this season's Project Runway HATED Victorya.
- I love how Heidi says “Lincoln, Nebraska.”
- Ricky. Crying. I'm over it.
- The montages? I was a little underwhelmed by them. Except:
- Elisa's extraterrestrial video montage rivaled Guadalupe's in terms of sheer train wreckedness.
- Watching Michael Kors lose his poker face over the corny runway antics of the RAW divas just touched my heart.
- Ramilicious? Is that the best you could do?
- Spread Eagle: Best Wrestler Name. Evar.
- NINAGARZILLA. I'm just saying.
- Christian is the fan favorite. Fierce. I think I identify with Christian because I, too, am fierce.
- Michael Knight! I know Tiffany is dying right now!
- Check out Heidi trying to drink in Michael Knight’s scent.
- Chris' laugh? Not all that. But I still love him.
- Jillian's human after all. She came off 40% more interesting. And her pirouette? Fierce.

Project Runway After Party, Season 4
Episode 11: The Art of Fashion
Hello, dear Reader. I'm back. Sorry for not doing a recap of the last episode. I was out of town and was too caught up in Pinkberry that I got back to where I was staying just in time to know that Ricky got The Auf. Boo hoo. Not.
So we're down to five designers. Behold, dear Reader, the designers who will be showing their collections at Bryant Park, two of which are, of course, the traditional Project Runway decoys:

This week's challenge, to find inspiration in timeless works of art was, as one designer put it, "a designer's dream." It's art creating art. Does that make it ... meta? Postmodern? Hmmm ...
Anyway, in the spirit of Bravo's final twist (more on that later), I'm not going to go into the play-by-play for this episode; I've found it a bit tedious, and many recappers do a much better job of it than I do. Instead, let's go right into a discussion of the final runway pieces, shall we?
Behold, the winner of this week's challenge: Christian and his androgeny-inspired look from a Spanish painting blew my mind. See for yourself:

Say what you will about Christian, but even with all of his snark, all of this bitchiness, and all of his swagger, he puts his braggadocio money where his mouth is and consistently offers up a strong point of view week after week. I will admit, I was getting tired of his vertically ruffled, skinny-arm jackets, but he managed to tweak it just enough for this final challenge. He created a piece of art, of theater and, most importantly, of fashion. His fearlessness earned him the win, and he rightly deserved it.
The other fan favorite, Rami --- a beautiful male specimen indeed --- has become a bit of a one note, I'm afraid. His dresses, while gorgeous in all of their resplendent red-carpet-Grecian-goddess drapery, in the end were more uninspiring than anything else. And for this final challenge, one would think that he'd want to bring forth onto the runway something a little more memorable. But, like Michael Kors said, he played it a little too safe. While yes, it's true that the designers found out about this challenge in a room filled with Hellenistic sculpture, I don't think Rami should have taken it as as a mandate to create the same garment he's been making the entire season.
I don't really have much to say about Chris and Jillian's garments. Chris', while beautiful in and of itself, was too similar to the couture challenge. And I really didn't see why the judges (including Guest Judge Roberto Cavalli) found Jillian's jacket to be stunning. I hated it.
Sweet P (along with Christian) became my favorite because of her sweet demeanor (hence the moniker, I assume) and her ability to come through with a great garment each week. It was sad to see her get The Auf this week, but I understand why; her garment failed to make the connection between the peacock painting and her vision. I would have at least liked to have seen the same purple, green and gold colors in the garment (without looking like some Mardi Gras costume from hell) instead of that garish red and that ugly print. They had two days for this challenge; she should have done something much more ... peacock feathery. Like something along the lines of a peacock bata de cola or something. Anything but ... this:

Back to Rami and Chris. Both designers' designs were redundant, yet beautiful for what they were. So the good folks at Project Runway decide to up the drama ante and make Rami and Chris compete for the third coveted spot at Bryant Park. Both will come up with a collection and show the Project Runway judges three of their strongest looks. The winner of that mini-challenge will show their entire collection, along with Christian and Jillian at Bryant Park.
This little dramatic twist would have been more interesting, except for the fact that we all know that all five designers (Jillian, Christian, Chris, Rami, and Sweet P) show at Bryant Park anyway.
You gotta love the Internets.
My call for Project Runway Season 4 winner? Christian Siriano. Rami doesn't need the win. He already has his own business and has dressed the Jessica Albas of the world. Of course, I would have loved it if Sweet P won the entire competition because she really needs the money and because she's kind of an underdog. But looking at her entire collection juxtaposed against the other designers, she's just in a different league.
Next week: The reunion show!

Project Runway After Party - Season 4
Episode 9: “Even Designers Get the Blues”
(aka "Oh my god, I'm gonna die of barfness!")
Morning after Kit’s Aufing. Victorya accidentally calls Sweet P “Kit,” to which Sweet P protest loudly. So Victorya does it again. Weirdo passive aggressive cow.
Ricky decides to wear his black and white painters cap today. Unfortunately.
Heidi initiates the whole boring “pick a model” thing.
Field trip!
Rami waxes poetic about what the field trip could mean. Either you go to the garbage dump and have to make a wedding dress out of it, or you get flown to Paris and have to make a couture gown, he says.
He’s so meta.
Christian notices that they’re bringing them to some borough, and struggles to fit the word “fabulous” in. He doesn’t sound too convincing.
It turns out that Tim brings them to some pier overlooking the East River. I know I said in my last recap that I hate Rami because of how he treated Sweet P during the last challenge. But there’s a shot of them walking together, Rami with his arm around her. So now I kind of like Rami again.
I’m so fickle. Isn’t it so fierce of me?
Anyway, the garage door thing goes up slowly, gradually revealing more than 500 pairs of Levi’s 501s and some cotton hung up on clotheslines towards the back of the huge garage/warehouse thingy.
This week’s challenge? Create an iconic denim look of your choice while creating synergy and increased equity for the Levi’s brand or something.
The budget? Who needs a budget when Levi’s paid for this episode?
The designers are told to run to the other end of the garage thing and snatch up as many denim pieces they can. You know Chris is hating this. Sweet P loses a shoe in the name of fashion, such a brave one, that Sweet P. Rami grabs all the dark jeans he could find. Robot picks the lightest color she can find. Chris grabs whatever he can get. Fierce started out with a plan, and then grabbed whatever. Chris graciously gives Victorya a pair of jeans that were left on the floor. I think he just didn’t want to bend over to pick it up.
Tim gives the designers until midnight to bust this thing out.
Ricky thinks that denim is fun sometimes, and tells us that he’s made a few of his hats out of denim. Seriously, Ricky? Enough with the hats already.
We start to hear more about Rami’s life growing up in Jerusalem, complete with gratuitous baby photos. He says that he wants to show Levis that they can be fashion-forward and hip. As far as I know, you can’t drape denim. Will this challenge be Rami’s undoing?
Christian thinks that the challenge is disgusting because they basically gave him a design-school challenge. I’m guessing he’s not so much into deconstructionism. Everyone fantasizing about inflicting bodily harm on him because they’re all sick of his prepubescent snark.
Jillian realizes that Victorya is also making a denim coat, and they both worked on a coat in the last challenge and she totally didn’t know that Victorya was “also into coats,” so she’s tripping out.
Cut to commercial. Chloe lives in L.A. now and hangs out at Echo Park for design inspiration? She is so ‘Mi Vida Loca.’
Christian got inspired by Levi’s look book, so he decided to make a trucker jacket for a woman. Sweet P is making a kind of wedding dress. We hear about her husband and how he’s supporting her right now while she’s trying to get her fashion game on.
Christian says what we’re all thinking: Ricky should have gone home instead of Kit. And Ricky senses it, so he proceeds to give us his resume: I heard Oscar de la Renta and some other designer names.
Chris talks to himself --- or to the garment. It’s part of his creative process. Whatever you need to do, my dear. We heart you.
Tim comes in and calls Ricky’s dress “stunning.” Frankly, I’m stunned at Tim’s comment. Ricky is making something stunning?
He thinks Chris’ garment looks “incongruous,” and it reminds me of geometry class, so I tune out for the rest of the conversation.
Jillian still has a ways to go with her garment. Tim thinks Rami’s zipper detail trim has the potential for blowing everyone away. (That's because we've already seen this in Jeffery Sebelia's collection. But Tim has a crush on Rami, so how soon they forget!) Tim thinks Victorya’s outfit is looking very “patch-worky.” And he’s not loving Sweet P’s wedding dress is “happy hands of home-granny circle.”
“Resolve the skirt,” he tells her after making the Home Alone face.
God, I love the feedback Tim comes up with. How do you “resolve” a skirt?
Anyway, Sweet P makes a quick change to the garment. I hope it works, girl. I’m rooting for you!
Back in the sewing room, it becomes apparent that Jillian’s freakout is imminent. She keeps cutting herself at the sewing machine and she starts to cry. She’s bleeding everywhere, so Rami comes over and he doesn’t see any blood. Even when Jillian is freaking out and bleeding all over the place, she's still utterly bland.
Christian doesn’t even throw out any gratuitous “fierces” for a while because he’s so busy trying to get his garment finished.
[Sidebar: I’m going to try my hardest to remember to watch ‘Top Chef’ this season, for crying out loud. It’s like one of my New Year’s resolutions or something.]
The next morning, Jillian reminds us how determined she is while Rami mists his face. As silly as it is to mist your face, I have to admit that he mists his face quite beautifully.
Models come in for fittings, and Ricky hasn’t cried yet. Amazing.
Victorya is in love with her boring coat. Jillian is totally last minute. Christian thinks everyone sucks, as usual. And ---- Rami resorts to the glue gun!
Et tu, Rami?
On to the runway!
Heidi announces that nobody will be getting immunity from here on out.
Rami’s garment reminded me of the candy wrapper challenge for some reason. Christian’s jacket – while cool, reminded me of that jacket he made for the “I’m-not-fat-anymore” challenge. It's that same skinny-with-puffy-shoulder jacket he always makes when he's not making a dress. Victorya’s jacket looked like the jacket they made for the coutoure challenge. Sweet P’s dress? I loved it, of course. It didn’t remind me of anything I’ve seen in previous episodes.
NINAGARCIA and Kors loved Christian’s work. They all pronounce the birth of a new jean: The Motocross Jean. Twenty bucks says we see "The Motocross Jean" at the GAP this fall.
NINAGARCIA thinks Chris’s dress looks dated and not iconic. Heidi thought the dress looked unfinished or home sewn. Kors thinks he should have taken the fraying further. Heidi thought it was boring. “Very Joan Cusack in ‘Working Girl’”
The judges liked Rami’s. NINAGARCIA thought his outfit was very sophisticated and very Rami. She also thought it was refreshing that he was forced to not drape this time around. I can't wait until she calls out Christian for making that same jacket and Jillian for making another damn trenchcoat.
The judges also liked Ricky’s. Kors reveals he loves Amy Winehouse and basically says that Ricky’s lingerie experience finally showed through on his construction of this denim dress. Ricky starts crying, of course.
“What’s up with you?” Heidi asks him.
Girl, don’t even get me started. It’s kind of like Ricky’s ashamed of his lingerie-making background or something, the way he keeps crying whenever you bring it up.
The judges aren’t liking Jillian’s at all. Heidi says it makes her model look like a marshmallow. Jillian’s problem? Biting off more than she could chew. Oh, and also being a zombie.
Kors thinks Sweet P’s dress looks “super chic,” and it has some “voodoo” to it that makes you look slimmer. NINAGARCIA loved it. “It’s versatile,” she says. God, I love Sweet P. She’s so cute. I think I have a little girly crush on her.
The judges thought Victorya’s garment was disjointed. “Like a jean jacket and a skirt glued together.
[SIDEBAR: I totally NEED one of those Mac laptops that fit in an interoffice envelope.]
Ricky wins this challenge, and is told that they are going to sell his dress on Levi.com. Surprisingly, he doesn’t cry after hearing that. Jesus H, I don’t understand this man.
Victorya gets The Auf.
The designers who make it to the next round aren’t looking too distraught about her leaving. Heh heh. They all hate her too.
Next week: Sweet P and Christian arm wrestle!

Project Runway After Party - Season 4
Episode 8: En Garde!
(aka, “Hello Bravo? Just a bit of feedback: Your website ruined my joy tonight!”)
Before I start this recap, I just want to share with you a little tip: Don’t check BravoTV.com before the show airs. I found out who got The Auf before the opening credits ended. Grr. But like the good blogger I am, I’m going to make it work, dammit.
So the show begins, and Heidi brings out their models, all of whom are rocking crazy hairstyles. The folks at the Tressemme hair room look like they’ve gone crazy with the crimping iron!
The designers re-pick their models. Yadda yadda. Two models end up getting kicked out – one with a non-hairstyle, and the second one with dreads. I bet the second one is hating the fact that they basically locked her hair up for nothing. That's going to be a bitch to untangle, girl!
The challenge: Design an avant-garde garment based on your model’s hairstyle.
Budget: $300
Time: 2 days
Back in the workroom, Tim tells them the look, since it's supposed to be avant garde, doesn’t have to be realistic, or even wearable. This should be great then. I'm looking at you, Chris.
He also tells them they have to work in teams. Ouch. The teams are:
Jillian tells us that she and Victorya’s Achille’s heel is time management. Normally, I’d take this to mean that one of them is going to get kicked off, but NOT THIS TIME, since BravoTV.com has seemed to forget that there are people on the West Coast who are watching the show right now who still like to be surprised.
Rami is growing frustrated with Sweet P because she’s taking forever making her pants, but Sweet P thinks he’s tripping out, because they’re like, almost done with the pants and some corset. I decide that Rami’s a little control freak, and a bit of a perfectionist. In another context, I’d usually view these as somewhat positive traits; but he’s starting to get on my girl Sweet P’s last nerve, so I’m a little on edge. He’s not even liking her idea of a bustle, for chrissakes. You'll regret this, Rami!
Tim comes back to the workroom with a special announcement: There will be another look walking down the runway. In other words, they have to re-conceptualize their avant garde look and translate it into something more commercial and ready-to-wear. This challenge is supposed to mimic The Real World of a Fashion Designer or something.
Christian wants to vomit. Jillian panics because they only have one day left, and they're a bunch of laggers. Ricky wants to be a hero, so he offers to make Garment #2 all by himself. Victorya presents symptoms that resemble morning sickness or something. Sweet P tries to explain a concept to Rami, but he blows her off because she doesn’t seem convinced, or because navy blue isn’t really “day.” Or something.
Tim gives the designers another $50, so they go back to Mood for more fabric. It seems like five minutes pass before Tim brings the models in for their fittings.
Ricky’s really optimistic about his and Kit’s apron dress. Surprisingly, he doesn't cry about it. Jillian’s freaking out because she remembers that Victorya has immunity for this challenge, so if the judges don’t like their garments, Jillian’s ass is out.
Christian demonstrates how the models should walk. If I walked like that, I’d dislocate my hip or throw my back out or something. But Christian, being all young and limber and such, works it like a champ.
Rami keeps nagging and micromanaging my girl Sweet P, so much so that she starts crying. I officially hate Rami now.
Tim brings in some guy from Tressemme to consult with the designers. Something about translating the avant-garde hairstyle into something you and I can do when we're rushing off to work and only have 10 minutes to spend on our hair. The winning team’s designs and hairstyles will appear in Elle magazine.
Pfft. Whatever. I already know who it's NOT going to be...
With four hours left to go, Tim checks in with Team Fierce, and is concerned with their ready-to-wear look, that it doesn’t translate well from the avant garde. He checks in with Kit and Ricky, questioning whether their garment is too costume-y. He questions whether Rami and Sweet P’s garment is avant garde enough. Tim's worried. At this point, Rami brings up the difficulties in their working relationship, as if that's any excuse. Team Bland hasn’t even started their second look yet. Hello? Four hours. Get it together, ladies! Jillian, switch your robot setting to turbo, honey!
At the sewing machine, Jillian actually has a human moment when she freaks out and almost bangs her head against an invisible wall.
On the day of the runway show, Jillian starts on the second garment. Seeing as how I ALREADY KNOW WHO GETS THE AUF, I’m not even excited about the prospect of Jillian the Robot getting kicked off for putting together a dress in what seems like an hour.
Hair and makeup. Yadda yadda.
Sidebar: Heidi’s runway dress with the asymmetrical ruched neckline? HOT. I totally want it.
Alberta Ferretti is tonight’s guest judge.
Let’s start the show!
Rami and Sweet P’s corset dress was pretty and edgy, but I thought the black pants underneath was incongruous to the rest of the outfit. I mean, it wasn't really avant garde; it was more like the model tried on that dress in the dressing room and never took off her pants.
Team Fierce’s “Angels in America”-meets-Auntie Mame-meets-Can Can was over the top in a delightful, theatrical way. I loved, loved, loved the multiple ruffles of 46 yards of fabric or whatever, thankyouverymuch. Christian’s RTW look was pretty much typical Christian with the pleating/ruffling down the middle.
Ricky and Kit’s dress looked like a big Cinderella hoop-skirted ballgown – that is, Cinderella before the ball. The RTW dress looked like something out of a Butterick pattern or something.
Team Bland’s jacket was perfect. So military. So punk rock. So ... Tartan. I thought Jillian's RTW dress didn’t match this theme at all. It was too cute and girly compared to the structured (dare I say it?) fierceness of the avant-garde look.
As expected (from the shows's editing and the fact that Bravo robbed me of any sense of suspense tonight), Sweet P and Rami's team and Ricky and Kit's team had the lowest scores.
Michael Kors said Team Fierce's dress was “heaven.” Very “soignée.” Don't make me look that up.
Team Bland says their look is along the lines of punk rock equestrian. Good to know I got that impression right away. NINAGARCIA didn’t really mind the RTW dress, and I think NINAGARCIA needs glasses. That dress was as boring as watching Victorya and Jillian flip a disc to decide who gets to be the team leader.
Rami tells Heidi that he was thinking of creating some kind of dichotomy between hard and soft with his garment. Kors thought Sweet P’s RTW dress was more forward-looking than Rami’s. Vindication for Sweet P, thank Jah. Sweet P, ever the diplomat, said that Rami really wanted to "take control of his design." You just know Sweet P wanted to roll her neck and be all like,
"Heidi, this bitch is crazy!"
Any damn way, Rami's counterargument to that was that she and he "work differently." Kors counters back, saying that the best design teams are usually those whose designers don’t see eye-to-eye to begin with. You know. Diversity of ideas, or something. So there.
Alberta Ferretti thinks Kit’s dress was a cheap Scarlet O’Hara. Heidi says it’s not well made. NINAGARCIA brings up the whole “If I were going to use this for Elle” argument, saying that this would not be something she’d pick.
And you know when NINAGARCIA starts on the whole "What Would Elle Magazine Do?" angle, girlfriend's serious.
During deliberations, Heidi shows some frustration at Rami, the draping wonder. She didn’t like how he threw Sweet P under the bus, and I think she wants to start seeing something new from him other than his signature, wonderfully draped evening gown. I couldn’t agree more.
Rami, you and your eyes had me at hello, but you and your ego lost me with your micromanagement of Sweet P. Sigh.
Kors wonders if Kat and Ricky even know what avant garde means. (And in case you don't, Dear Reader, click here.) NINAGARCIA said their garments were amateurish. Ouch.
Sidebar: Millionaires have a certification process? I’ve already decided that I will hate Bravo's “The Millionaire Matchmaker.” What is up with this network glorifying the lives of the bored, wealthy, and vapid? Leave that shit to M T V, for crying out loud.
Christian, as team leader, wins the challenge and gets immunity for the next challenge. He’s loving this win, because since he’s so young, he “doesn’t have much press yet.”
Kit, as team leader, is out.
But I knew that already.
Next week: Jillian is a bit of a drama queen. Who knew?
- Kit and Ricky (Team "I don't have a clever name")
- Sweet P and Rami (Team Micromanage)
- Chris with Christian (Team Fierce)
- Victorya and Jillian (Team Bland)

Project Runway After Party - Season 4
Episode 7: "What a Girl Wants"
(or, alternatively,"Designers, don't even think about not finishing your hems!")
The sun rises over the horizon, and we see the designers getting ready for the day. We finally see how Christian gets his hair like that (hairdryer).
Rami has immunity for this week’s challenge, which is to make an outfit for one of the most important days in a woman’s life. Rami hopes it’s not for a wedding dress. Me neither, because I don't think I could handle a sappy episode right now.
Heidi calls out a bunch of New Jersey Catholic schoolgirls, who walk out in khaki skirts and white polo shirts. The designers are going to be making prom dresses, and the designers are relieved. Except Christian, who thinks prom is “horrible and tacky and gross.”
The kids got to chose their own designers themselves after looking at their portfolios. Chris March warns his client to not get too scared, because he might design some Beach Blanket Babylon outfit!
This is gonna be gooood.
In the workroom, Tim tells the designers that they’ll have strong ideas about the dresses, but they have to remember that they’ll need to also assert their own personal style.
Budget: $250
Time: One and a half (?) days
Upon consulting with their clients:
At Mood (whose tote bags I TOTALLY WANT, by the way), the designers choose their fabrics, yadda yadda.
We see Christian’s prom picture. I think he looks way better with a mohawk.
Jillian wants to make a “mosaic” of a dress. Everyone reminisces about their prom days, and Kit reveals that she was a little OC prom princess. Chris March tells a Flintstone/caveman gay joke, which is funny considering my boss refers to him as “Fred Flintstone Gay.” Ricky (whom my boss refers to as “Thomas the Train Gay”) calls his mom on his T-Mobile Sidekick and starts crying again. I have the sinking feeling that we’ll be seeing a lot more Ricky tears this episode to make up for the dearth of Ricky tears in the last episode.
So far, the editors have focused on Jillian (“Is my hair bigger than usual today?”), Sweet P, and Ricky. Oh yeah, and way too much Christian, Mr. “I’m not going to let a high school girl push me around. Hmm. I wonder which one is getting cut this episode?
It’s the next day, and we’re back from commercial and everyone’s doubting their designs. Victorya decides to change the silhouette, with the approval of Christian.
Tim brings in the daughters and their mothers. Kevin’s client’s mom says she looks pregnant in the dress, but he tells her it’s part of that new babydoll style. Nice save.
Victorya’s model ends up liking the new silhouette because it makes her legs look hot.
Sweet P’s client loves the dress. Christian’s client hates her dress.
“I’m not a dressmaker; I’m a designer,” he says.
I’m having trouble ascertaining the difference, but okay, Christian, whatever you say.
Kevin tells Tim that he may leave the hem raw, thinking the judges won’t notice. Um, hello? What show do you think you’re on? That NINAGARCIA has eyes like a hawk!
Tim tells Christian that he’s concerned about the dress. He doesn’t hate Christian’s dress, and reminds him that he’s too good and too talented to give up.
Kevin still refuses to hem the dress, despite Chris’ warnings to the contrary.
The next morning, Christian vows to make the most of his chocolate bubble dress.
Ricky made his prom date’s dress. Sweet P went to Catholic school. Chris March didn’t go to his prom. Rami grew up in Jerusalem, where they don’t have prom.
Christian’s client is annoying as all hell, and I hope that I wasn’t like that when I was their age.
On to the runway!
Sweet P’s dress? Gorgeous and flowy. Victorya’s? Cute, young, flirty, babydoll. Chris March’s? Glamorously commercial. Kevin’s? I think the red halter made her look stocky. Jillian’s? Nice and flowy and airy, but I hate asymmetrical hems. Christian’s? Brown pouf. The model tried to work it, though. Kit’s? Sporty. Ricky’? Stiff, but ultra feminine. Rami’s? A variation on the dress he made in the first episode.
Kit, Jillian, and Chris make it to the next round and are sent off the runway.
That means Sweet P, Victorya, Christian, Rami, Kevin and Ricky have to stay for critique.
This week’s judges are Michael Kors, NINAGARCIA, and Gilles Mendel (guest judge).
The judges loved Sweet P’s dress (yay!).
Kevin mentions that his model is Filipino, which, apparently means that she must wear red or something. I beg to differ. Kors says that he is distracted by the hemming. We told you so! They hated it. “It looks like $29.95 prom,” Kors says.
Victorya says that she thinks the dress is what her client wanted to project herself to be, whatever that means. Her model loves the dress though, so I guess that’s all that matters.
Christian tells the judges that his client is very opinionated, at which point the girl acts all shocked. Whatever, honey. Own it. NINAGARCIA reminds Christian that being a good designer also requires that he have some tact when dealing with clients, and doesn’t like that he’s blaming his client for her ugly design aesthetic. Word, Nina. Word.
Ricky says that the girl inside him would wear that dress. His client loves it, but NINAGARCIA says the bottom ruching looks sloppy. Kors and Heidi tell Ricky that the dress is kind of bland. That it’s a “non-event.” Ricky starts to tear up. Shocker!
Heidi says that Rami’s dress is too “lady who lunches.” NINAGARCIA says the dress is too sophisticated for a teenage girl. Rami upholds his design aesthetic.
Victorya wins the challenge and has immunity for the next challenge.
Kevin gets the Auf.
Next week looks like another group challenge! We shall see …

- Sweet P has to struggle with a client who wants a really revealing, ivory dress.
- Christian’s fabulous client takes the pencil out of Christian’s hand and starts telling him that she wants a train, and gold, and lace. Christian wants to cry.

Project Runway After Party - Season 4
Episode 5: "Eye Candy"
(or, alternatively, "Sweet P, you better stop listening to Christian, y'hear?")
And we’re back! Did you miss me?
Kevin laments at how they’re “dropping like flies” at this point. Sweet P’s “elated” that she’s made it this far. Kit is looking fierce with her scarf.
At Parsons, Heidi goes on her spiel about the models, etc. Two models have to go, yadda yadda. Are the models genuinely happy to be paired with a certain designer, or are they just in it for themselves? I ponder this question while the rest of the designers go through the boring process of choosing their models.
Hey Bravo, next time, when you bring out the models, make sure Heidi’s not wearing the same kind of dress they are, mmmkay? Fabulous.
Heidi tells the designers that they have a field trip coming, but that they should go back to the New Gotham apartments (or whatever it is you call their accommodations) to rest. What, are they filming this shot at 2 a.m. or something?
At 6 a.m. the next day, Tim Gunn wakes the designers up and tells them to get dressed and meet him in the lobby. Kit’s cracking up because she answered the door in her pajamas.
“I didn’t even have my bra on!”
I hear you, girl. That’s totally embarrassing.
I see one of the girls with what appears to be a canvas shopping bag from Mood. I TOTALLY WANT ONE.
So Tim leads the designers to Time Square, their destination? The Hershey’s store.
“Great, we get to make shit out of candy,” Christian says.
You got it, sister!
The Hershey’s store representative is a little too “on” for my taste. As in, someone totally rehearsed her talking points!
Budget? No budget, thanks to Hershey’s I begin to daydream back to the days of Season One in which the product placements seemed a little more subtle.
Chris grabs all the pillows. Miz Robot picks Twizzlers. Christian decides he’s going to use Reese’s peanut butter cup wrappers for his garment.
Time’s up, and the designers leave with their goodies, while the Hershey’s rep wishes them a “sweet day.”
Seriously. She did. Ugh.
Tim tells the designers back at Parsons that they have until midnight to finish the garments. Double ugh.
Christian! You are throwing away all of those perfectly good Reese’s peanut butter cups. You bitch. Still love you, though.
Elisa decides to make a dress for her daughter, Calliope. She tells us that she got hit by a Porsche in London as she was about to launch a clothing line in London. She sees this stint on Project Runway as a way to reclaim the life she could have had if she didn't get hit by that car.
Do you smell that? It smells like foreshadowing!
Christian is done with his garment early, so he decides to offer feedback to the rest of the designers. He manages to dissuade Sweet P from continuing with her original garment, a teal blue and brown dress that incorporated smashed-up coffee mugs in a mosaic pattern. He tells her it needs a bit of editing, so Sweet P decides to make another skirt.
Girl, don’t give in! This is a competition? Do I need to remind you?
Kevin vows to mention, in every forthcoming interview, that he will off him. Christian, that is. Surprisingly, I don't object this time.
Tim comes around to critique everyone’s dresses. Elisa’s dress is apparently inspired by Someone Von-Something’s take on a Hansel and Gretel dress. I know, I don’t get it either. Tim is worried. Jillian shares her concern about the tedium involved in making the Twizzlers bodice. Sweet P is starting over on a new skirt, per Christian's instructions. Tim says her new skirt looks like a coffee filter or a MAXI PAD. I almost spit out my tea at that. Understandably, Sweet P is freaking out. Tim Gunn, you're so nasty. I love it!
Midnight is quickly approaching, and Elisa is quick to point out the Cinderella parallel. Meanwhile, Sleeping Beauty --- er, I mean, Chris --- is snoring on the couch.
The designers go home for the evening, and Jillian’s Twizzler bodice is falling apart.
The next morning, Christian proclaims that the workroom is a “tranny mess up in here.” Is that code?
The models come in for a fitting. I’m surprised none of them have dived into Christian’s garbage can full of Reese’s peanut butter cups.
Don’t act like you wouldn’t.
Jillian’s model decides to help her hand-stitch the Twizzlers. Christian proceeds with the shit talking.
On to the runway!
Heidi just said something about proceeds going to some organization that helps fight breast cancer and I totally missed it. Let’s start the show!
Ricky’s garment was totally fun and playful. Chris’s dress was surprisingly toned down. Yay Chris! Kit’s dress is made out of Kit Kat wrappers (of course!). Elisa’s garment reminded me of fleurchons from seasons past, causing me to convulse. Kevin’s dress was super elegant, even if it did have a bolero jacket. Christian’s dress was really pretty as well, even though I still won't forgive him for wasting pounds and pounds of perfectly good Reese's peanut butter cups. Sweet P’s dress was very feminine, but something in the finishing left much to be desired. Rami’s dress looked very futuristic and sexy. Jillian the Robot's Twizzler dress totally worked. Phew. Victorya’s ruffled concoction looked like an off-kilter lederhosen-y dress. Zac Posen looked disturbed by it.
Ricky, Christian, Kit, and Kevin make it to the next round.
That leaves Jillian, Rami, Elisa, Victorya, Chris and Sweet P to stay behind for critique.
Zac says that Rami’s dress was well constructed and fits her perfectly.
Oh yeah. Zac Posen's the guest judge for this episode. Moving on ...
The judges love Jillian’s dress. Kors says it’s “deliciously chic.” I agree - she really worked hard to make this dress work, and it shows. I'm not really a Twizzlers fan, though. I'm a Red Vines kinda girl. I think it's a regional thing. But I digress.
Kors says that Elisa's brown velvet dress looks like something from the flea market. That it robbed him of his joy. The judges obviously have a problem with Victorya’s dress – it’s not wearable. It’s Dairy Queen in lederhosen, for crying out loud!
Chris says he tries to recreate something Warhol-ish. Kors thought he was going to go over-the-top, but that he made a great editing choice. NINAGARCIA throws out the “would I shoot this for Elle?” standard, which Chris passes just fine.
Sweet P’s dress, according to Heidi, was boring. NINAGARCIA thought it looked too easy. And sad. Kors is again robbed of his joy. I was underwhelmed. Shoulda kept the mosaic, girlfriend.
During deliberations, we learn that it’s neck and neck between Rami and Jillian. Rami’s got her on the detail, but Jillian might have an edge because she actually used something edible. The judges also decree that Chris actually does have taste after all, contrary to popular belief.
Rami wins the challenge and gets immunity will have immunity for the next episode.
Elisa is out, and I’m really sad to see her go!
I still think Sweet P should have stuck to her mosaic dress. Girl, you got lucky this time.
UPDATE, 1/4/08: Hot damn, I do love me some recaps from Season One Winner Jay McCarroll:

Project Runway After Party - Season 4
Episode 5: "What's the Skinny?"
(Or alternatively, "In Which Jillian Reveals to Us That She is a Robot")
Everyone’s bummed that Chris got kicked out on the last episode.
Jack tells us that he’s had several staph infections before, and that what he thought was a zit on his face might not be as inocuous as that at all.
Heidi comes out on the runway, spreads her legs and tells the designers that they’re going to meet their models. Except that they’re women wearing clothes that are several sizes too big. Turns out that each of these women have recently lost a “significant” amount of weight, and the clothes they’re wearing were their favorite outfits. Each woman introduces herself and how much weight they’ve lost. One woman lost 160 pounds. Holy. Mother. Of. Jah.
Of course, I’m jealous of them already.
Christian looks at the models and tells us that he’s going to die. Again.
Each model gets assigned a model, and they’re all hoping they don’t get the woman who’s wearing the super sized wedding dress, and I don’t quite understand why. I think I missed that tidbit while I was picking up my jaw off the ground after hearing how much weight these women lost.
The designers go back to the workroom to get more details from Tim, who tells them that they have until midnight to complete the challenge. But first, he reads aloud a note that Chris left behind while everyone cries.
The models come into the workroom and the designers consult with them on potential designs. Christian freaks out because his model doesn’t wear dresses, doesn’t like to show her arms, doesn’t like to wear prints and only wears pumps during lunar eclipses. Or something.
Steven begins to catalog all of the atrocious elements on the wedding dress. Acetate lace. Copious amounts of buttons. Lots of satin. He dry heaves at Mood.
At Mood, we notice that Jillian is, quite possibly, a robot. A soft-spoken robot.
Steven decides to f*ck effort and gets black stretchy fabric and to only use the wedding dress elements as trims. Uh oh.
Back to the workroom!
Jack’s face is starting to swell up, and he calls his doctor. He reminds us that he's been HIV-positive for 17 years. His viral load, I’m sure, is pretty low, and that staph infections could happen to anyone. His doctor tells him that he needs to pursue a more aggressive treatment tactic.
Tim comes in, as if by magic, and asks him how he’s doing. They come back and he calls a Gather Round. Jack tells them that he has to leave the show to get medical treatment. Everyone is upset and crying. They all say goodbye.
Not so much of the shocker I was expecting. Maybe because I was scooped last week. (You know who you are!)
We all know that Jack comes out of things well, since we’ve heard he started dating that guy from Top Chef!
Back in the workroom, Ricky’s trying on his model’s jeans to see how they look with pumps.
Sorry babe, you’re not getting on my good side, even with this cross-dressing tactic.
So, to fill the void left behind by Chris’ and Jack’s departures, they bring back … Chris! He gets Jack’s model and has the option of staying the night in the workroom to get his garment done.
He better cry and cut!
(P.S., I am going to try to work in that Zulema catch phrase in every recap.)
Chris tells us that he can particularly relate to this challenge since he’s been on every diet known to man and has probably lost about 1500 pounds. I hear you, sister!
Christian’s outfit – a fitted jacket – is looking quite awesome, actually. He seems to agree:
“It’s very fierce, Tim. It’s kind of a big deal.”
Tim warns Elisa that her look doesn’t reflect her client’s style.
Steven tells Tim that he doesn’t “do” white polyester satin.” Tim tells him he’s “very courageous” in his decision not to include the garment.
Tim advises Chris to avoid the costumey factor, and that some of the worst decisions Tim’s made have been at 3 a.m., which cracks everyone up.
Tim’s freaky deaky. Who knew?
Everyone goes home for the night, except Chris, who elects to stay and work through the night. That would totally suck if he got asked to come back to the show, only to get the boot again!
The next morning, the designers come back to the workroom and Chris is snoring on the couch. We also see Jillian walking into the workroom, expressionless. The woman is a robot. I’m convinced.
Hair and makeup. Yadda yadda.
Ricky cries while his model tells him that she hopes he does well.
The clock is ticking and Christian is freaking out. I have to say though, that his freaking out is pretty graceful, seeing as how he’s just flitting about the room. He finishes his garment with glue.
Y’all know what that means.
On to the runway!
This week’s guest judge is Patrick Robinson, head designer for GAP. I wonder how long he’s designed for GAP, as I haven’t bought anything from there since high school!
Christian, Elisa, Steven Jillian, Chris, and Kevin make it to critique.
Jillian, as Kors says, made a beautiful dress, but it didn’t incorporate a lot of fabric.
Elisa’s dress – sorry, “day trousseau” – was very … Elisa. I was a little bored by it. As a non-skinny person, the last thing I want to do is wear layers and layers of fabric. But, because the crunchy-granola-hippie-chick-space-cadet we all love to hate wanted layers, that’s what she got. The coolest part about the outfit is that her model gave us the Sign O’ the Beast before walking off.
She’s so hardcore!
Heidi notices that Jillian’s dress isn’t made out of the original garment; she just used the original garment for piping. But, overall, the judges loved the dress.
Kevin’s tube top was totally sexy and looked great on his model. His model absolutely loved it too. Kors hated the leggings. I did too.
Chris, the comeback kid” was very costumey, but he makes it to the next round. Kors likens it to Paris 1957 and warns him about falling into the cliché trap. All she needs is a beret, a baguette and one of those long-stemmed cigarette holder things.
Steven’s dress was “French maid at a funeral,” Kors says. He really didn’t take the opportunity to make something new out of that horrendous wedding dress.
Sidebar: Steven, why have this kind of snobbery about the fabric? The phrase “it’s a competition” has somewhat become clichéd nowadays, but it’s so true. Steven had a golden opportunity to showcase his skills as a designer here, but he got caught up in how much he hated the fabric, so much so that it stifled his creativity. You know the fabric is shit. The judges know the fabric was shit. If you had only went for it, the fabric would have been taken into consideration, I’m sure. But whatever.
Anyway. Back to the recap.
Christian wins the challenge. Christian’s garment, I thought, was one of the best. His jacket (I smell a theme here) was constructed beautifully, and the pleating along the whatchamacallit looked incredibly finished. Deconstructionist at the core. I totally want that jacket. He managed to keep his designer aesthetic while making a design that looked like something his model would actually buy.
Steven gets a well-deserved Auf. Jillian does the robot walk off of the runway.
See you next week!

Project Runway After Party - Season 4
Episode 4: “Trendsetter”
(aka “A Trip Down Fashion Memory Lane” or, alternatively, “I’m Totally Over Ricky Already”)
Because last week’s episode didn’t use any of the female models, there were four models that were up for dismissal. Since Jack won the challenge, he had the option to either stay with the same one or switch it up. So, Jack takes Ricky’s model, and Ricky, of course, takes it personally.
Wasn’t Ricky the one who was just reminding us in the last episode that it was a competition?
Heidi tells the designers that Tim’s in the workroom with a special guest to give them their challenge. When the designers arrive, they find Tim and NINAGARCIA there, standing next to 12 mounted photographs of “really hideous fashion trends,” says Chris.
NINAGARCIA tells them that throughout the decades, Elle has photographed the evolution of trends for decades. (Sidebar: The photo with Elle Macpherson in the cutout dress was one my first Elle issue that I bought.) These trends are out. Jillian’s feeling all molded because she’s wearing overalls, and that’s one of the fashion “don’ts” displayed there.
Everyone picks one of the outdated trends.
The challenge: Work in teams of three to create an updated and cohesive three-look collection that incorporates all three outdated trends.
The budget: $225
Timing: Two days
The teams (and the outdated trend they each picked) are:
Strategy wise, some teams choose to incorporate all three outdated trends into each garment; some chose to tie everything together through use of fabrics and color.
Christian calls his team “Team Star,” because they’re all stars, and they’re fun, and stars are fierce or something. I totally want to be on Team Star, because they’re “hot. Like, celebrity.”
Fierce.
Meanwhile, on other teams:
Ricky explains to Elisa how to make clothes, using the same kind of hippy, dreamy, ephemeral language she understands, because he used to be a dancer. He’s the team interpreter. I found it kind of odd how Ricky and Victorya assigned themselves roles – like, Victorya was going to be the mediator and Ricky was going to be a whiny bitch. What?
Jillian’s freaking out because Kevin isn’t making his pattern correctly.
Chris’ team is working way, flying under the radar, with Steven doing a poor Tim Gunn impression. Sorry my dear, you're no Santino!
On day 2, everyone’s all smiles walking into the workroom, but the day has just started!
Victorya tells us she doesn’t like to be a “bossy cow,” but that’s what she ends up being, anyway. What makes it worse is that she delivers her opinions with a really calm voice. She tries to give feedback to Ricky’s garment, but Ricky ignores her.
Tim does everyone a favor and brings in the models for an initial fitting, and Sweet P stresses out because she thinks Steven’s garment doesn’t work well with the other clothes.
Jillian’s freaking out because their overalls ended up being too big.
Victorya says that the clothes looked so harlequiney, and so she assures her model that the black and fuchsia color-blocked bustier would be totally different tomorrow. Ricky retaliates by giving Victorya some feedback on her garment, and gets pissed at her for doing exactly what he did to her the day before.
Rami and Jillian are still freaking out because Kevin isn’t anywhere near finished with his garment.
Team Star meets with Tim, who says their collection is very modern.
When he goes to Sweet P’s team, he says he doesn’t see the cohesion, and it’s Steven’s garment that isn’t working out. Tim says that all the garments all look like Jillian. Tim Ricky is stressed out, and Tim tells them it’s not looking refined and well finished. Victorya tells Tim that she would have tweaked the silhouettes a little. Ricky chimes in, but Victorya hits her with a “can I finish?”
It’s on.
The two of them chat, and she asks him, in a honey voice that belies the bossy cow underneath, “I want to ask you, why you wanted to be team leader.”
No she didn't!
Ricky calls her passive aggressive. I kind of agree, and it’s that kind of passivity/aggressivity that just sneaks up on you behind your back, and next thing you know, you’re filled with rage! If Victorya was going to act this way, she should have just stepped up and been the team lead for this challenge.
Ricky still bugs me though. I think he has some massive, crazy-ass negative energy around him – it’s messing with my aura!
Jillian and Rami are still worrying over Kevin’s shorts, and Rami and she agree to disagree on how to fix it. Meanwhile, Ricky and Victorya have a therapy session in the hallway.
Elisa is concerned because she’s feeling the disturbances in Ricky and Victorya’s auras. Ricky and Elisa are done with their garments. Victorya is still working on her garment because she changed it at the last moment.
Ricky feels like he needs to pull a rabbit out of his ass to make it work. Awesome! That’s what this show is all about!
Models come back for a final fitting.
Ricky tells Victorya that she needs to make some adjustments to her bodice, “coz right now, you’re flattening her bust.”
“I like that,” coos Victorya.
Um, WHAT? Hello, dude’s made a living making lingerie. Why would you want your girls all flattened out?
So he re-pinned the bodice, Victorya marinated over it a bit, and decided she liked it. Oy. I've decided that the both of them are killing me softly with their egos.
Speaking of egos, can I just say that I love Christian more now? He abbreviates words, just like I do. For example, when he saw the final looks, he said it was “feroshhhh.”
Christian, you’re fierce. I’m Asian; I’m fierce. Let’s be fierce together!
On to the runway!
Heidi announces that Team Jillian wins the challenge, and I agree; it was the most cohesive look. I liked how they incorporated the denim in each garment. The overalls didn't even look half bad.
Team Passive/Aggressive and Team Chris had the lowest scores.
During critique, Donna Karan, this week’s guest judge, says that there is no movement or liquidity, but she loves Sweet P’s dress. Sweet P starts crying. The judges say that Chris’ outfit still looks dated. It’s like “beauty pageant in camel,” says Kors. NINAGARCIA says that his dress doesn’t look relevant for today. “How can you be a leader, if you can’t even lead yourself?” she asks Chris.
Team Passive/Aggressive’s flaw was problems with construction. About Victorya’s dress Donna Karan said it was fitted well, and she gives props to Ricky for that last-minute advice; however, his garment itself sucked in terms of construction Ricky says that it was because of him helping his teammates. Elisa tries to stick up for him, but Ricky’s choice of having the duchess satin was his flaw. Victorya breaks it down for Kors about their working relationship, and Kors says it shows.
Heidi asks the teammates again that eternal question “Who should go,” and everyone answers. Elisa, ever the ambassador of free love, says that she herself should go, and that’s her standard default position on any and all such matters.
While the judges deliberate, I deliberate on how much work Donna Karan had done to her face. My god! She’s five procedures away from being Jocelyn Wildenstein!
Chris is out. Boo. I’m so over Ricky and his hats.
Is next week going to be the week where we get the big Jack revelation?
See you next time!

Project Runway After Party - Season 4
Yeah, I know, I know. I missed my recap for Episode 2, but real life got in the way. Sorry!
Episode 2: "I Started Crying."
Marion’s out. Unfortunate, yes, but that sack dress really did not translate well into the real world. Oh yeah, and P.S.? Spitting on fabric is killing me softly, y’all. I can’t wait to see what Our Favorite Flower Child does this week.
Episode 3: "Fashion Giant" (aka "Let Them Have Eye Candy")
So, supposedly this episode, the designers will be faced with the Most. Difficult. Challenge. Ever.
The show opens and again we see a very buff Jack, clad in only a towel and his tattoos. We learn that he’s been HIV positive for several years, but that he's the healthiest he's ever been. Judging by his rippled, chiseled torso, I totally agree. Eye candy for all of us!
Field trip!
The designers have to go to 10 Rock to meet with Tim and find out what their next challenge is.
So Tiki Barber meets them at the Today Show studio and some of the guys are freaking out because they’re a little behind on their football. The challenge? Design an outfit for Tiki to wear on the Today Show. The designers get $100 and a day and a half to construct a garment. He tells us that some of his fitting challenges are that he has a big neck and a skinny waist. Oh yeah, and the fact that Tiki got back, y'all.
He breaks it down as far as what he likes to wear – for example; he likes little details and isn’t afraid of color (as long as it accents the whole outfit). He asks the designers if they have any questions, and they totally do. I love when people have questions and ask them!
The designers go back to the studio, and Jack is carrying Christian in a bag. You know, like a little poodle. Sweet P is freaking out because she realized she doesn’t know how to sketch menswear, let alone construct garments for men. Kit – my favorite right now – says that her experience as a TV stylist gives her an edge because she knows what works on screen. I hope so, girl!
Looks like everyone is going out on a limb and making suits or blazers. I mean really, what *else* can you do when it comes to designing menswear for a morning show personality on a major network?
Elisa is keeping her hippie tendencies on the down low right now, so she’s probably safe this episode. I just hope she keeps her saliva to herself!
Jack takes off his shorts and traces the pattern of his shorts – basically disassembling them. That's fair? How is that fair, when what's-his-face gets kicked off the show for having pattern books? I don't get it. Maybe because it's Jack.
It’s midnight, and we still haven’t heard anything from Miz Phlemglobber. What’s even more perplexing is that I’m still wondering what is so *hard* about this challenge. I mean, I’m sure it’s hard enough designing for a man, when all you’ve been doing is designing clothes for women---I’ll give them that---but how is this any different from designing for a “jet setter” as in the last season? But I digress.
It’s Day 2, and everyone’s Stressing. The. Hell. Out. Kit keeps it real, though, and reminds everyone that they are experiencing the opportunity of a lifetime. Go girl! Way to put things in perspective!
Chris tells us that he’s a) older than everyone else and b) completely self taught. Pants? Just two sleeves sewn together! Easy peasy, right?
Rami’s inner bitch comes out when he tries on his muslin pants, not made with any patterns, thankyouverymuch. Rowr!
"Jealousy's going to bring out the ugly, and ... whatever!" Jack says.
The male models come in for fittings. Everyone is freaking out over the hotness. I am too, kinda. Eye candy for everyone!
So as not to disappoint me, Elisa turns her back when the male model changes. She says that the whole fitting ordeal is a very intimate process, and that the only male she's fitted was her boyfriend. “He’s the only male I choose to touch.”
And kids, we all know what fittings lead to ...
Honestly, I'm blown away by Elisa's modesty. I thought hippies were about free love and all that. Clearly not!
My other girl, Sweet P, is freaking out because her shirt isn’t working out well. She's right. Oy. I'm scared for her.
Tim Gunn comes in and summons up a Gather ‘Round to tell the designers that they have a special guest – an Asian woman who nobody knows about, but it turns out that it’s Tiki Barber’s wife.
“I love Asians. Asians are fierce.”
Thanks, Christian! I love you too!
What happens next is about five minutes of Project Runway filler, in which Miz Barber walks around to each designer, telling him or her whether or not Tiki would love those colors, or that the jacket looks too "Members Only." I mean seriously, even that snarky comment to Carmen didn't redeem her from her blandness. Her dress was BEIGE, for crying out loud.
Seriously, Bravo, Miz Barber just totally harshed my eye candy mellow, knowutimsayin? Leave the wives of the hot ex-football players out of the episode, alright?
Ricky’s freaking out about his clothes, and I’m freaking out over the fact that, quite possibly, Ricky won't give those hats a rest, already!
I realize I still don’t know everyone’s names, and I’m calling Carmen “Kelis.” I’m sorry. I can’t help it. Give me time.
Ricky is freaking out because he put the zipper in the wrong way, and he has 50 minutes left. He also just flipped off his pants. Oooh.
Carmen and Ricky start going at it in that calm, I’m-not-going-to-look-you-in-the-eye-while-I-cut-you-down manner that I find so entertaining to watch!
Don’t go home too soon!
Whatever, Ricky. Just cry and cut!
Four hours until the runway show, and the designers arrive at Parsons. Jack gives Christian a piggy back to the workroom. I’m sensing the “carrying Christian” thing will be a recurring theme.
Carmen/Kelis hasn’t even made her shirt yet, and there's 50 minutes left. Oh SNAP!
The models are back for hair and makeup. Oh my god. Ricky asked his model to sew buttons on. Janky!
Sweet P’s shirt is a mess and is wondering if she should even send it down the runway. She’s trying to creatively "style" her shirt. Good luck on that one, sistafren.
Carmen is worrying about her crotch. Her model’s – not hers. She sews her model into the pants. And she still hasn’t done the shirt. So what does she do instead? A DICKIE!!! She does a dickie! Janky!
RE: the hair and makeup shot: Can I just say how NICE it must be to get a fresh haircut whenever you go on a job? I totally want to be a model now!
On to the runway. This will definitely be fun. As my boy Christian says, there’s a lot that’s jacked up around here.
Amen, sister.
On the runway, most of the designers are cringing in their seats. As the models walk down the runway, I’m not getting the impression that Tiki’s liking any of them.
Jillian, Christian, Rami, Steve, Victorya, Chris, and Elisa make it to the next round. That means Ricky, Kit, Jack, Carmen, Sweet P, and have to stay behind for critique.
Tiki likes Kit’s look. NINAGARCIA likes the overall presentation, and Kors thinks the fleece saved her. I don’t know how I feel about the fleece jacket, but it most certainly would have been easier to hide any flaws in the construction. Smartie pants!
Sweet P totally sewed her own tie! Props to Sweet P! That shirt collar is killing me softly, though.
Kors loves Jacks’ outfit (I think he secretly has a crush on Jack) and Tiki loves the textures (not too loud) and thinks it looks great. NINAGARCIA points out he didn’t do three pieces. Was it a requirement that people had to make three pieces? I must have missed that.
“Whats with the safety pins holding up the jacket?” NINAGARCIA asks Ricky.
Tiki says it’s sloppy and that he would look like a fool if he showed up at the Today show wearing that thing. I thought that the inside liner on Ricky’s jacket was a nice detail. But, true, it wasn't the best. NINAGARCIA says that it’s straight up DULL. Obviously, Ricky didn’t learn from last season, where Gunn urged one of the contestants, “don’t bore NINA!”
Tiki says that Kevin’s outfit is eye-catching, even though he doesn’t usually wear vests. Heidi says that the look is “more David Beckham than Tiki,” and that she wouldn’t let her man walk out of the house wearing a purple shirt. I guess we know who wears the pants in that famly!
Kors says that the crotch on her pants is "insane." They make her take off the dickie, and NINAGARCIA deems it unacceptable. Bad time management, Kors says.
It’s a toss-up at this point.
The judges rip up Sweet P’s, Carmen’s, Ricky’s outfits. If Ricky gets kicked out, I think he’ll have a nervous breakdown. I’m just saying.
Jack wins the challenge, and Tiki Barber’s going to wear his outfit on the Today Show.
It’s between Carmen/Kelis (“everything was off”) and Ricky (“the construction was awful, but it was a boring old suit”) on who’s getting The Auf.
Carmen/Kelis is out. Ricky cries anyway.
See you next episode!
Episode 2: "I Started Crying."

Project Runway After Party - Season 4
Episode 1: “Sew Me What You Got”
Gurrrrrrrrrl, I am so excited. My favorite show is back. I was dreaming when I wrote this; forgive me if it goes astray. I’m a little rusty.
So the episode starts and all the designers arrive at their new digs. Rami Kashou dressed Jessica "Don't Call Me Latina" Alba? Meh. Kayne’s back, in the form of costume designer Chris March. Christian Siriano. He’s kind of fierce. And he’s kind of a big deal. In his own mind. Carmen A. Webber, aka Kelis’ twin sister, used to be a model, now she’s a designer. Jillian Lewis. Illustrator/designer for Ralph Lauren. Will she be boring like Robert Best? Kit “Pistol” Scarbo. I love her already, and I don’t know why. Kevin Christiana. Self-proclaimed straight designer. They do exist, apparently. Jack Mackenroth. Hot. Probably gay. Elisa “crunchy granola” Jimenez. She does yoga and makes super-sized marionettes. Cool. I’m sure she’s been to Burning Man. “Sweet P” Vaughn shows off her tatts. I might like her too. I haven’t decided yet.
Anyway. The designers are summoned to Bryant Park to meet Tim and a non-pregnant Heidi. Tim welcomes them and he tells them that last season’s group was pretty strong, but this might be the strongest group ever. Everyone’s excited, the confidence and the champagne is flowing. They woo.
Kit says, “Life is too short to have on a bad outfit.” I am thinking I need to incorporate this as my new mantra.
Wait. Tim Gunn works for Liz Claiborne now? When did that happen? Is he no longer the dean at Parsons?
First challenge: They have run to the tents to make a garment that expresses who they are as designers. Everyone thinks that they’ll have to make a garment out of that janky tent plastic. But no! Instead, the kind folks at Mood donated $50,000 in fabrics. Sweet. They have 10 minutes to grab fabrics and until 1 a.m. to create their fabrics.
One of them (is it Elisa?) does a drive-by “happy birthday” while running and gives Heidi a sunflower. Nice touch. Way to suck up to the judge!
Everyone’s sprinting toward the tents.
Chris March is, shall we say, not sprinting. He's not so much a fast runner. Inside, he’s probably wondering how he ended up on the wrong reality show all of a sudden. Anyway. Everyone’s grabbing at the fabrics like kids around a busted piñata. Will he be left with nothing?
Alas, it all works out because nobody chose the fabrics he wanted anyway.
Elisa starts rubbing in grass stains into her silk and she tells us that she normally infuses her fabrics with tea and herbs and her sixth chakra. I made that last one up.
I hope the hippie doesn’t get kicked out. She’s killing me softly right now. Plus, she might provide oodles of Project Runway recap fodder. A blogger can only hope!
Back in the workroom, Tim tells them to make it work. They have 13 hours to complete their garments.
The designers describe their aesthetics: Rromantic, historical sensibilities. Lingerie. Feminine and edgy. Mythical. Classic. Pared down. Confusing.
Elisa uses herself as the dress form. She is really letting her hippie flag fly! Christian sums it up:
“She’s a rain goddess woman. She’s like all spiritual in the Himalayan Mountains. She’s a little strange.”
Tim comes around and starts evaluating their pieces so far, telling Elisa that she really needs to think about whether or not she’s taken the garment as far as it can go. Elisa seems to think she has, so she leaves the workroom early to go take a nap on the couch. Everyone else starts talking out of their necks about it. Let me take this second to remind the designers that hello, it’s a competition. What the hell do you care if she goes to sleep early while you think her dress is crap? Let the hippie get some sleep!
Don’t go into your fear box, people!
We come back from commercial and it’s the next morning. The first thing we see is Jack in his boxer briefs, moisturizing himself. Bravo clearly understands its core audience. Elisa’s doing her yoga.
Can I just say? I’m totally loving Christian. You just know he’s going to be the total bitchy queen you can't help falling in love with. Although I am not loving his Mission Street hipster hairdo, I hope he doesn’t get kicked off this episode. Or for a while.
Elisa tells her model that she needs to measure her body with her hands. “I need to hand measure you.” Hand measuring: It’s a verb, ya’ll.
It’s a few minutes before the first runway show, and everyone is frantically trying to finish their dresses, while Christian talks about the lousy hand sewing that’s going on all up in here. He’s talking to you, Simone!
On to the runway!
This episode’s judges are Michael Kors, NINAGARCIA, and Monique Lhuillier. Never heard of the bitch.
Let’s start the show!
On the whole, and with a few exceptions, I think the designers’ dresses were somewhat … ugly. And there are too many designers right now for me to even want to dissect them individually.
Heidi dismisses nine of the designers who’ve made it to the next round. The remaining six designers Christian (quirky tailor), Simone (dressed in the dark), Rami (chic, sophisticated, but M.O.B.), Ricky (sweet but safe, kinda boring, nice), Victoria (sweet with a twist), and Elisa (you had me at hello, but you didn’t know when to stop) stay behind for a deeper critique.
Elisa needs to stay for a while, just on the strength of her descriptions with sound effects alone. Plus, how can you hate on someone who inspires Heidi to make the following assessment:
“Elisa’s dress looked like her model was pooing fabric.”
Do you see what I’m saying?
Anyhoo. Rami wins the challenge and has immunity for the next challenge. Rami is hot. Especially when he says “wonderful.” I think I have a slight crush on Rami.
Simone gets the Auf.
See you next week!

Oh, we're gonna make it work.
I know I haven't posted regularly; I've been busy. Don't judge me!
But my favorite reality show, Project Runway, is starting up again next week.
Of course I'll do episode recaps - I need to get people coming to this blog for more than just that damn Brazilian bikini wax post.

This Charming Man
To all my fellow Project Runway aficionados:
Are you sitting down?
I don't know how to say this, so I'm just going to say it.
Tim Gunn may not return for the next season.

His responsibilities as chair of the fashion design department at New York City's Parsons school, where Gunn, 53, has worked for 23 years, make him unavailable for filming during the academic year.Lawd, help me please, I hope he finds a way to make it work, because the show would totally suck without him.

Project Runway Afterthought
I watched Bravo's rebroadcast of the final Project Runway episode again yesterday, and I take it all back: I think Uli should have won.
And a question in the back of my mind still lingers: Has Project Runway jumped the shark? I mean, think of all of the pointless drama, non-episodes, text-messaging crawl, ringtone downloads, and the now-borderline cliche catchprase, "Make it work". Hmm ... say it ain't so, Bravo.

Is [Project Runway] a show designed to discover new talent, as it claims, or to simply elevate experienced designers who can't snag seed money from LVMH on their own?Which is exactly what I have been asking all along. I mean, I'll still watch, but will all of my rooting for the underdog be in vain, as we know in the back of our minds that the prize may inevitably go toward the already-established, small-scale fashion house (e.g. Lot 8, Cosa Nostra)?

Project Runway After Party
Episode 14: The Finale, aka Better Living Through Fashion
Oh. Mah. Gah. Tonight’s the night of the final runway show, and finally we can put an end to all of this drama and get to see what all Project Runway fans come to see: The clothes!
Last episode (when I was so rudely interrupted by Real Life and Everything that Comes With It), we saw the clash between Laura and Jeffery, and the question surrounding Jeffery’s collection and whether or not he outsourced his garment construction. He’s freaked out that he won’t be able to show at Bryant Park, and rightly so.
This week’s episode brings us to a day and a half before the final runway show. Laura, Michael, and Uli are feverishly putting the finishing touches on their garments while Jeffery steps out onto the balcony. Jeffery thinks that Laura is questioning his integrity, and I have to agree – by questioning the integrity of his work, you do question his integrity as a designer. Duh.
Tim calls Jeffery and asks him to call Park Pleating to get a copy of the receipt for his daisy duke shorts. Jeffery is worried that he won’t be able to get it, because that shop is so unorganized:
“It’s like Sanford & Son over there.”
Ha! Call Jeffery what you want, but that man is funny as hell.
The next day, Jeffery is on pins and needles, thinking that he’ll be disqualified, so he starts making a skirt, just in case he can’t get a receipt for the shorts. Smart move. Prove Laura wrong.
Man, I’m starting to root for Jeffery here. WTF?
Tim comes in and asks the designers to gather around him. He’s got an announcement to make, and the furrow in his brow worries me. He tells the designers that after a thorough discussion with the producers, Tim says that he is convinced that Jeffery has done the work himself. Jeffery is relieved, and bursts into tears. The outsourcing he did was legal, but since he can’t find the receipt for the daisy dukes, he can’t show them. Tim tells him he is over budget by about $228, so he has to remove something from the collection. Tim also has to tell the judges that he is over budget. No biggie. Jeffery decides to get rid of those damn blonde wigs he has to bring him back under budget. And can I say, praise Jah for that. I saw enough wigs and weaves on this season of Flavor of Love!
But I digress.
Laura says that the solution was a great compromise and that she never meant to get him kicked off. Sure you didn’t, Mrs. Park Avenue. (Still love you though, girl!)
Tomorrow’s the runway show, and everybody is so pumped up. Tim calls the designers for one last “gather ‘round,” and Tim gives them a very emotional pep talk. He tells them they’re all winners and that tomorrow will be a great day. I love Tim Gunn.
The designers get up at 4:15 a.m. the day of the runway show, and Laura is killing me in her black cocktail dress so early in the morning. The woman never lets up. Michael tries to find his happy place. Uli says it’s the biggest day of her life.
Even just walking into the tent proves to be an overwhelming experience for them. Michael feels like he’s come full circle. Laura struts her stuff on the catwalk. Jeffery finds the invisible chip on his shoulder compelling him to “prove himself.” Honestly Jeffery, cut yourself some slack. Two words: Cosa Nostra. Hel-lo. I'd say your work is already done.
Then Bravo pans over to the Elle goodie bags, and I find myself totally wanting one. You know what kind of first-class swag you get in those things, right? I’m all about the freebies. I wouldn’t go so far as to call myself a swag whore, but let’s just say I’m never one to turn away a gift. Ahem. Anyway.
On to the runway!
Chaos ensues backstage – last-minute hair decisions are made, models get spackled with makeup, designers start to get frazzled. Just another day in the life at Fashion Week!
Fern Mallis, the creator of OFW herself and vice president of ING fashion is the guest judge, along with regular judges Michael Kors and NINAGARCIA. Oh yeah, and Heidi.
Jeffery’s first. He’s still working the deconstructionist angle, but it looks a lit more polished and refined. I don’t know if it’s the music (which sounds a little like Barry Manilow on the trip-hop tip), but I look at Jeffery’s collection and I’m like, “eh.” There’s even what I perceive to be an Uli-inspired print dress (a flop, the judges tell us later). I do have to say, that striped dress with the funky zipper seams looks much better now that I see it on the model. And I totally am coveting the matching purse (the green striped one that he used with another outfit). During the final walk, Jeffery resists The Corny and decides not to carry Harrison with him down the runway. Thanks for not becoming a cliché.
Uli’s next. Seriously, who picks the music for these runway shows? Uli voiceovers that her clothing was inspired by the safari, but the music sounded more like Candyland (the game) on some cracked-out techno acid trip. As to be expected, Uli has designed a few recognizable pieces, but as a whole it was very light on prints. I’m liking her collection so far, but that’s probably because it appeals to my taste more than Jeffery’s collection did. And that’s not to say anything bad about Jeffery.
Wait, I think I just saw Brandy in the audience. Have you heard the rumor that she’s dating Michael? Say it with me: Oh HELL no.

HELLS NO.
Speaking of who’s in the audience, this season designers are all in the house, along with Chloe and Daniel V. from Season 2. Chloe’s got the digital camera in hand, getting some ideas for next year’s Lot 8 collection.
I kid!
We break for commercial, and Collier Strong is back, giving us one last smokey eye lesson. I swear, I’ll get it right some day! I’ll make Collier proud, by god.
Laura’s next and cracks a joke about her “making it big in the fashion world,” pointing to her prego belly. Silly girl. To the sounds of some crazy circus polka, her besparkled models traipse down the runway. Laura tells us that she's on a mission to remind American women to take better care of themselves and make their lives better through fashion. As to be expected, her collection is very elegant, refined, and so what I'd wear on a night out where you might run into the mayor or something. Or the opera. I don’t really have anything to say about this collection – it’s pretty formal, although we know that Laura would probably wear the dress with the feathers to Whole Foods, or maybe around the house, cleaning up turtle poop. There are a few plunging v-necklines, but thankfully kept to a minimum.
Clutch the pearls, they saved Michael for last. His collection is called “street safari,” for that woman who is "on the hunt to find out who she is." Brandy cracks that big grin of hers (ugh), and I’m already pissed. Michael has the best music, though, thank Jah. Ooh: There’s a kimono-sleeved wrap top that I am absolutely IN LOVE with. J’adore. Totally. Somebody buy me that for my birthday. There’s a lot of white in the collection, a color which we already know Michael loves. In looking at the Getty images from a few weeks ago, I wasn’t all that impressed with Michael’s collection. I change my mind now, seeing them brought to life on the runway His clothes are sexy hot. I don’t know how I feel about the bathing suits, but whatever.
Did I just see Danielle, Andrae’s model from last season walking down the runway?
Oh. And I totally am coveting Michael’s models’ earrings. Want. Them. Now.
So backstage and after the show, Project Runway gathers soundbites from former cast members, industry people, and that freakin’ Brandy, who says that she “loves” Michael’s collection. Of course you do.
And before you accuse me of being a Michael groupie (which I am, sorta), my disdain for Brandy precedes Project Runway, alright? I don’t want to hear comments.
Sidebar: I still think Santino wins the prize for the best runway music.
On to the judging! The judges thought each show was exciting and fantastic and loved how everyone had a different point of view. I agree. This season may have been the corniest in terms of dramatizing, but this season’s group of designers probably produced some of the more consistently solid and unique garments I’ve seen so far (of course, with a few exceptions from past seasons).
The judges say that based on the budget given, her collection looked much more expensive. Fern, thank Jah, says it’s fine to be as focused as Laura is in her design aesthetic. I agree. Focus is good.
Michael says that the competition gave him some clarity about who he was, and that inspired his collection. Fern says it was clear he was the crowd favorite but that the collection didn’t match that. Kors thinks he went over the top, NINAGARCIA says there’s a “fine line,” but Michael says he wanted to come on strong. The best thing though was that his collection showed range. And isn’t that important anymore?
Jeffery’s collection is based on Japanese ghosts and demons and nightmares or something. Kors says that he dressed his women at every juncture in their lives, and what he meant by that was “going to the movies” and “going to a party.” Here I am thinking he was talking about age. Heidi brings up the fact he went over budget by $200 or something. After chucking the wigs, now he’s $400 under budget. Those are some damn expensive wigs, yo.
Uli wanted to show she could do more than colors and prints. NINAGARCIA says that while the clothes are terrific and will sell (“they do!” Uli says), she says she can “to this too.” Heidi loved every dress. Kors felt the connective thread was disjointed, or a “story.” Screw that “telling a story” through clothes. Uli continues to represent Miami and, sort of mockingly, says that maybe she should move to New York to better understand the design aesthetic of Michael Kors. Thankfully, Fern tells her to stop that nonsense way of thinking!
NINAGARCIA shares with us that after the show, many people approached her, asking them, “how can we get in touch with Uli?”
As if we had any doubt any of these designers wouldn’t be working in the industry after this show.
It’s between Uli and Jeffery as far as who the winner’s going to be. Heidi says Jeffery’s collection was innovative, cohesive, and really showed his range. Then she says that Uli pushed herself and made a beautiful collection that every woman would want to wear.
Jeffery wins Project Runway! Marilinda gets the Elle spread.
And somewhere out there, Angela’s in the corner, curled up in the fetal position, bemoaning Jeffery’s victory.

Project Runway After Party
Episode 13: Season Finale, Part One aka How Mags had to "Make It Work" this week
I've been super busy planning this three-day event for work, and its success made all the long hours I've been working worthwhile this week. This means that I wasn't able to be in a place where I could properly watch Project Runway (they didn't have Bravo in the hotel room - WTF?). Plus, I just couldn't see myself sitting and watching the TV typing away on my laptop, when all I wanted to do was sleep.
However, I did manage to persuade the manager of the hotel's bar to find the Bravo channel so I could at least watch the show. Not that I could hear anything that was being said, mind you, but I made a brave attempt to do so while sipping on a delicious sidecar with my boss and co-workers. One thing I did succeed in doing was mildly pissing off a few people who were mesmerized by CNN's coverage of that plane that crashed into an NYC building. But, I mean, there were two other TVs in that bar turned to the same station. Couldn't they have spared one for my weekly pop culture boost?
I have needs that must be fulfilled, you know.
In any case, our friends at BPR have collected this week's early recaps, as always. When Tiff's and Four Four's recaps come up, check them out. Aside from my own, their recaps are my favorites!
And tell 'em Mags sent cha.
Next Wednesday is part two of the season finale (Was the Jeffery-outsourcing-his-work rumor ever resolved? I couldn't hear the outcome.)
Anyway, I'll have my season finale up next week. Stay tuned!

Project Runway After Party
Episode 12: Reunion
Oh, Lawdy. It’s the reunion episode. Aside from the Olympus Fashion Week episode, the reunion shows are always my favorite. This is when 15 designers stop being polite and start getting … REAL.
Oh, wait. Wrong reality show. Moving on:
At first, we see Kayne, Vincent, Stacey, Kate, Bradley, Bonnie, Malan, Angela, Robert, and Alison. They discuss being recognized on the street now that the season has been on the air. Bonnie brings up how one day she was chillin' around town and some fan asked her if she was from Project Runway. Bonnie's started to catch that celebrity vibe and was all, why yes, yes I was. So then this "fan" says, something like, I thought so - you sucked! What follows is Bonnie's response/recounting of the story, which, I'm sorry to say, is somewhat verbatim:
A very pregnant Heidi (damn, that bitch is fertile!) and Tim introduce the finalists, fraulein Uli Herzner, Michael, Jeffery, and a very pregnant Laura. There’s a little bit of mutual admiration of the pregos between Laura and Heidi.
Someone asks Laura if she owns a pair of jeans (She doesn't). She wears riding pants if she ever wants to go casual. The better to stay off that slippery slope, m'dear.
They go over a brief recap of last week’s announcement of the winners.
Sidebar: Is Michael wearing a grill? Or are they braces?
The other contestants are supportive of the “Final Four” idea. Jeffery (with a way better haircut, actually) says – quite diplomatically, I have to say – that it could have been any of them in the Final Four.
They bring out Keith, who talks about how his friends have reacted to him. But first, let’s relive the pain and show a clip of the episode where Keith gets disqualified and kicked off the show. Alison starts tearing up, I think. Or her nose starts running, I can’t decide.
Heidi asks the designers if they thought the decision was fair, and everyone pretty much agreed that it was.
“Obviously you can see in my eyes I’m upset,” Keith says, trying to intimidate Heidi and Tim with his piercing stare. It doesn’t work, though.
Keith says that he doesn’t remember reading the fact that you couldn’t have books/magazines/whatever in the contract, but everyone speaks up, especially Stacey (isn’t she a lawyer?). Keith says that the books were removed a week before that whole conflict began, and then they were returned to his room a week later.
“Uncomfortable, isn’t it?” Basically, implying it was a set-up or conspiracy. “I don’t know how they [the books] got into my room.”
Don't even.
Then they bring up the fact he left production for a few hours. Keith explains that his reason was that he wanted to cut out because things were being hectic. He said a PA pointed to the door.
Everyone rolls their eyes and Uli says that you couldn’t so much take a piss without being followed by cameras.
They transition to commercial, and Keith’s all, “Yeah, I thought so.” Like he won that argument or something.
The next segment talks about Tim Gunn’s vocabulary. For example: Are you familiar with the term faux bois? I guess it's French for "fake wood." Not to be confused with foie gras, or "fatty goose liver," which I thought he said at first. From thence, I began to drool. Screw animal cruelty. Foie gras rocks. But I digress.
I have deep admiration for a man who uses sturm und drang in everyday conversation. He could have thrown in a few schadenfreudes in a few conversations and I'd be all over him like a fleurchon explosion from Jubilee Jumbles. But, I kid!
A viewer asks if Tim Gunn designs clothing. He doesn’t, but he Tim tells us that he paints, sculpts, etc. Again, who knew?
On to everyone else's “idiosyncratic lexicons”!
They discuss Vincent’s various disparaging comments about his fellow designers from EW.com, and Tim’s blog. First off, Vincent says that the show was full of “amateurs,” as in “not up to that level of design.”
“I think Vincent’s delusional,” Laura says.
No arguments here, girlfriend.
Vincent talks about certain prerequisites to becoming a great designer or something. The rest of the designers get on him because of the “amateur” comment, and Vincent does a simultaneous backtrack while standing by his original statement – the likes never before seen outside of the Bush Administration! But, I digress …
Kayne talks a million miles a minute. And we love him for that.
Sidebar: Bravo’s “Sound Auf” text-message campaign? CORNY. Don’t even play along, y’all. I don’t even want to read any kind of crawl on my screen during Project Runway, alright?
Malan talks about the support he’s received from fans since he got kicked off the show. He talks about being gay when he was young and about the lack of support he got from family. They talk about his accent and Malan’s laugh.
Sidebar to Malan: You're still one of my buddies on MySpace, Boo. But I had to unsubscribe from your blog, because it was too uplifting and loving for me. Sorry. Love you, mean it!
And while we're on the subject of Malan, I gotta say: I had no idea his laugh sounded so … sinister. So … conniving. So … so …
“Cary Grant meets Eddie Muster.”
Yes, that’s it. Thanks, Robert!
Alison says that the Doggie challenge was her favorite, while Katherine’s in the back all making a sour face and looking like, “fuck that.” You know. Since that’s the one she got kicked off on. Ahem. Awkward much?
The Mom challenge, everyone agrees, was a difficult challenge. Angela’s getting pissed off. They discuss Jeffery and Darlene, Angela’s mom. Let’s relive the pain with a clip, because we love picking at scabs!
Jeffery says that he never intended to make Darlene cry. Jeffery’s issue is that Darlene never told him that she didn’t like the dress, so basically, she would have gone down the runway and then told the judges that she hated the dress. I think Jeffery's saying that the process could have been a bit more collaborative. (Oh, really?) I can see his point, though – Darlene said she didn’t want to hurt his feelings. Angela is still pissed, and understandably so. Laura said that Darlene took the challenge personally. Robert says that Jeffery didn’t handle the situation correctly, which I agree with. I mean, you just don't get nasty with a client, hel-LO. Angela says that they could have been friends under different circumstances. Jeffery’s like, whatever, and monkeys might fly out of my butt.
Angela set herself up for that one, I’m sorry.
Vincent’s incident with the producers – previously unseen footage!
Apparently the producers do the designers’ laundry. Jeffery’s pissed that they did his laundry. Vincent totally raising his voice, acting a straight up diva! Vincent wears $125 shirts? Honey, please. Lighten up – it’s just fashion!
On to commercial!
You know, no matter how many times I’ve seen L’oreal’s Collier Strong show us how to do the smoky eye, I still can’t get it to come out right.
We come back from commercial and Heidi announces that Michael is the Bravo fan favorite, and he won $10K just for that! Michael Kors and NINAGARCIA come out with those big, corny poster checks, too! Yay, Michael!
At this point, Heidi, Michael, and NINAGARCIA talk about the judging process. I think this is the equivalent of that part on the Academy Awards when the accountants come out and talk about the counting of ballots, or whatever they count at the Academy Awards. Blah, blah, blah.
Ooh, but now the designers get to ask for feedback on past decisions!
Angela asks if she didn’t bust out with the "Jubilee Jumbles" story, would it have mattered. Angela. Seriously. N-O. Heidi said that everything about her outfit was “hoochie.” Well Heidi, I guess that's one way to put it.
Kayne asks about his couture dress – was it just the fabric? What was so over the top about it, because he's received tons of fan mail saying that the dress was awesome? Kors basically said that his exuberance needed to be tempered. But he sort of implied that Kayne will always have an audience. Just not Park Avenue.
They ask Alison about the recycling challenge in which whe was elminated. Alison says that she has moved on, but she did realize that when it came down the runway, that it didn’t look so great. I still liked the dress - as avant garde as it was - but in retrospect, she could have lost the bowtie made out of hair.
Laura asks the judges if they ever thought they made a wrong decision. Kors says no. Heidi says it was hard enough coming up with a decision in the first place.
On to the blooper reel:
I think Keith actually cracked a smile during the farting clip. Cool.
Heidi asks everyone to weigh in on who they think is going to win. They even ask former Project Runway designer contestants like Jay McCarrol (Michael Knight) and Chloe Dao. Lil' Chlo thinks that he’s the black version of herself. Daniel Franco thinks that Laura will win, because she’ll make a great CEO. I forgot what Kara (Season 2) and Robert (Season 1) thought, because Chloe cracked me up with that comment and I couldn't hear the TV over my snorting.
Who do I think is going to win the competition this season? I really don’t know, but the clip ofJeffery's Laura’s son trying to hand turtle poop to Tim Gunn is PRICELESS!
“I was like, omigah!”And so it went.
And they were like, “eww!”
And I was like, "gag me!”
And they were all, "fer sher!"
And then I was like, “whatever, bitch!”
And then they were all like, "molded!"
- Laura: “serious ugly”
- Robert: “boring”
- Vincent: “turns me on”
- Now-Beardless Bradley: random noises/sound effects/beat boxing

On to the blooper reel:
- The fire alarm goes off during the Zac Posen episode.
- During the Final Four challenge, Jeffery’s model almost fainted. Further back in the show, Katherine and Kayne’s model, the chatterbox girl, also caught the vapors a few times. Three words, girls: Eat. A. Sandwich. Damn heffas.
- Jeffery farts. A lot.
I think Keith actually cracked a smile during the farting clip. Cool.
