Wedding Dinner

"Love at first sight is easy to understand; it's when two people have been looking at each other for a lifetime that it becomes a miracle"

- Amy Bloom-

Undeniably, any average person would have dreams and fantasies about their weddings:
to marry someone charming and considerate maybe, or perhaps Hawaii or Venice as a one- to- one honeymoon spot, those certain love songs to be played whilst you dance the night away, that certain garden wedding, the kind of family, that number of children...

It's been considerably long since any close relative got married, and this time it's cousin Xian who's nodded to the transformation of the 'Miss' title to 'Mrs' ...

Coconut trees too! =) SuRReal *

the lanky genes ~

I especially love this poster they had up on stage -->

couldn't snap a complete picture as the *peacock ladies* kept moving here and there =(

Wanna know how the guy proposed?

That's a yes~

NO
, of course getting a girl to agree in spending her whole life with you- not to mention cook, wash, clean, wipe, sweep, mop, get pregnant, raise the kids + uncountable effort in maintaining her looks and body shape to make sure the husband does not cheat behind her back bla bla bla ... is not that simple !!

Anyway, what he did was blind- fold her and dragged her out in the middle of the day~

when she finally opened her eyes

Lo- and Behold ~

A Helicopter proposal =)

So off they went~

God knows what happened high up there in the air, but one thing's for sure -->
when the bride- to- be was asked to look down at the field :

*melts* the question of the century !!!

how can anyone possibly give no for an answer?

=) Sweet yeah?

hehe, this is sweet too~

anyway, that's basically all I know ~

The celebration ended with the usual 'yum-seng' session ,

& of course, fireworks to rejoice such a miraculous moment =)

Weekend up

As mentioned, instead of going home two weeks ago I went up KL~

Dinner with Ernest on Fri & stayed over at her place.. Felt bad for not attending her birthday dinner coz it was a Wed and I was still stuck in Ipoh. Actually made a video but stupid vista just wouldn't upload/allow changes to a compatible format.

Went OneUtama for brunch the next day but something unexpected happened~ =) thus marked the first time Ernest got mad at me .. [ I'm realllyyyy sorry darl ~! ]

her face says M-A-D

Come to think of it t'was quite funny cause in the car she went:

" I really feel like swearing at you " =)

all smiles and swears*

But we've 'made peace' now hehe, so all's good~

Went Ikea after that & basically tried on every one of the sofas available ~

Tea time with the Toorak girls @ The Apartment

Carmen's only 17 but is in Uni already ~ Oh and you wouldn't believe how small the world is!

Last year when we had our annual reunion her mum drove me back to Tivoli :
*In the car*

Mrs. Chow: So where are you from Daphne?

Me: Sitiawan *butidon'tthinkyou'llknowcausealotofpeopledon't..It's a SmallTownWhichIsNearPangkor bla bla bla*

Mrs. Chow: Oh I know Sitiawan, but I only know 1 person there -- XXX

Me: O_O *exclaimed*- OMG, THAT'S MY MUM !!

Turns out they were from the same teaching college and used to hang out together...

~ see Mernie? It's destiny! ~

Natali- one of the few who hangs a Channel paper bag in her car to dump her rubbish in -_-

Michelle- My all time favourite cousin + future doc to be

Ee Ying- the only person who swears at me like there's no tomorrow *yeah it's ur privilege* (notthaticanstopyouanyway =p)

Lunch was full of laughter & fun- I especially miss teasing about their heights =)

Not exaggerating okay:

hehe, to see is to believe

Little midgets make me feel like BFG (aka Big Friendly Giant)

@ Ee Ying's house

Mern & Nat

Ying's new baby's awesome! Thus I made it my kai zhai (aka Godchild) despite her resistence hehe~

=) what were you thinking? It's the DSLR fever!!

Wei is very the ma fan- went for a seminar when I've already warned her to reserve Sat & Sun.. dare to ask Nat to go all the way to Holiday Villa to pick her up somemore =p !

Nat, Wei and Carmen decided to show us around their ex-school

Sri KL (btw, how many canteens does a sch need again? They seriously have tons)

@ Asia Cafe

Football's their culture, hawker's ours ~

Bottoms- up !

Sleepover @ Mern's place:

Camwhored a bit

Sweeney Chow slashing me throat*

Finger-posin' Good*

& then watched Sweeney Todd to sleep~

Oh Ira called from Melbourne, so sweett! *coughs#hooifeli&van# hint hint*

Yum Cha with Mern's family the next day and got stuffed like a warthog...

Hanging out with the Toorakians reminded us of our silly+ 'whatever- goes' days~ To laugh at those trivial lame things, to jump at any opportunities to mock and tease, to hum-along pop-songs and failed-attempts to rap them lyrics, to share & feed each other food just because we can..

Reminiscence of the Good-Old-Days~ Not that life in uni's bad, it just feels unjustifiable to act that way anymore~ and i guess once in a while, we still need a break from our age- to run wild & live for a brief moment, the denial of growing up ....

Safe journey back guys!

A message to my readers!

Photobucket

This is for you!

A lesson to be learn

Some things may look pretty and expensive

BUT

It can be very dangerous at times.

It's round
and not sharp...

It's attractive
and not deceiving...

It's really harmful
if you misuse it...

It is the Diamond Ring!

This is what had happened

Photobucket

See how swollen the right finger is!

Photobucket

From the front view.

Moral of the day:

NEVER fit a ring which is not the right size.

Or else you have to go to the jewelry shop and get them to cut it open and an uncle laughing at you!

*ouch ouch*

The Saying~

Went to the High Court today for the very first time

Waited for an hour for a 5 min hearing ZzzZzz...

Learnt something from the experienced senior councils though :

" If you can't convince them, confuse em' "

Esther

A lady called the office today looking for Esther (who is non-existant) ~

Miss Fung: (looks around) who's Esther, Daphne you're Esther ahh?

Me: -_-

2 mins later the same person phones back again

Alex (who's a 60 yr old Legal Assistant) turns to Jenny and asks : who's Esther? Jenny u changed ur name isit?!?
Jenny: -_-

Lol, pointless post but seriously from 9am till now (4pm) I was only asked to type 1 letter and photocopy 3 agreements. Not gonna complain about it though, starting to enjoy the carefree atmosphere- not such a bad idea to go on facebook, blog, read newspapers etc while waiting for the day to end after all.

On another note I'm getting along real fine with my collegues and the firm feels more cosy now that I can just bum around in their offices for chit chat sessions :)
Kinda glad that tickets for Hellboy II and Hancock were sold out when we went to the movies. Watched Sweeney Todd at Carmen's place instead and the song got stuck in our heads~ Enjoyable movie =)

'I feel you Joahanna..'

End July END !!

Working should seriously be more interesting than this~

Everyone around me who are doing their internships get to follow their lawyers around to meet clients/ sit in meetings/ do researches/ give opinions / go to court ...

Now here's the contrast: I facebook in the office, check e-mails, type letters, bind documents and photocopy agreements + chase behind my collegues' tails everyday begging them to assign work to me, time's in such excess that i even ended up blogging =( As if staying away from home is not bad enough (totally defeats the purpose of being on holiday sigh~)

On the contrary, my collegues are very friendly & oh-how-people-gossip at work!! =)

It's only the 2nd day of my 2nd week and i've had enough of conveyancing already. Chose Ipoh and not KL / Sitiawan to work in cause it's a reputable small firm. Interning in Sitiawan would mean coffee-making & there really are not much options available anyway. KL, on the other hand is too hectic and I almost promised myself before that i wouldn't wanna stay there when I grow up~ Imagine waking up at 5.30 am to beat the traffic when office hour only starts at 9 ?!? Plus, I always wanted to start small to get an overall picture of what the profession is like first anyway, then probably target a bigger one after~

My timing is REALLY bad though, cause what I heard from before, the lawyer I'm with is supposed to be an excellent mentor. Unfortunately her mum just received her medical report stating that she has 4th stage lung cancer and so she had to rush to and fro from work to the hospital. Hence, no time for the poor attatchee~

Speaking of my boss, I coincidently found out that she was a drum-major from Nan Hwa's marching band. And according to her, her year was the first that won Nan Hwa the state championship. But she's almost 50 now so I guess that must be pretty long ago~

Think I've babbled long enough~ Going up KL this week to make up for Ernest's birthday & meet the Melbourne girls up yay!

What is the answer?

Here is an intresting question for you all

If you have done your contract law,
I am sure,
you know what are the remedies for breach of contract.

Injunction
Damages
Specific Performance
etc etc etc

But do you know, what are the remedies for breach of contract under Syariah law?

I've been doing my research for the past 2 days.

and I dont have an answer for my boss.
It's the same as common law.
But I guess I need a better answer.

Pls, if you know the answer,
do let me know.
I'll treat you!
Even if you are not reading law,
you can at least try to help a needy attachee here...
