Yes We Can

And yes we DID.

In preparation for tonight's election-watching marathon, I printed out a map of the United States that we could color in with blue or red as each state was decided. I got out red and blue colored pencils, and for a while the twins would happily color away at the states I pointed to, blue for Pennsylvania, red for South Carolina, and so on.

But soon they became bored with their color choices. While my back was turned, they grabbed a new color and filled in the rest of the map without my interference. Their chosen color? Purple.

Like President-Elect Obama, Evie and Sophie would like to remind us that we are one nation, one people, one United States of America.

So awesome! Can't wait for my kids to wake up today to a brand new way of thinking and doing!

I'm so glad I don't have to pack up and move to Europe. OK, maybe I was sort of looking forward to the sunflower fields of Italy. Customs with all my cats would've been a nightmare. :-)

Leave it to kids to remind us how to play nice.

My nerdy kid took his, unfortunately, blue and red colored map to school so he could show his teacher just what freaks his parents are. My 6-year old said, "No bragging, right Mom?"

I've been spending some quality time at change.gov, and I'm not shy about sending emails to the transition team when I have an opinion about something. Slowly, I'm returning to a normal life in which I am not obsessed with politics.

Purple has always been my favorite color. :)

I am having SUCH a hard time returning to normal life! I have plenty of places to challenge my energy... the problem is that I'm SAPPED of energy lately. And yet I can't imagine how much harder this would be if we'd lost!
