>i do not see a "established convention" here. i see a mishmash with all kinds of adjustments, conscious and un-conscious experiments, lots of overlay from machine (MUA) modulations and a few attempts towards best practices. Some sites/lists/forums/etc have codified and enforced, their probably premature, ideas of established conventions. It takes a lot of understanding to turn these datum's into knowledge, it is probably hopeless to turn those hoped for knowledge's into wisdom. But anyway that is a quest which one can choose to take. Yes their will be nay sayers. Yes they will get more forceful and vocal as seeker approaches a prime. So what? It is a, perhaps in a larger context - the, growth path.

>It makes a lot of sense to use it on code. I don't see why it helps to use it on text -- there's an established convention there, and I don't see what benefit you're gaining that makes up for flouting that convention. Again, it makes replying inline to you harder than usual.

I'm sorry to have dragged this on, though. I won't call attention to that again.
