It certainly is possible to use e. in tacit verbs.

But you should look at the structure of your tacit verb:

[: (d e.~ ])

In other words, it's a hook with [: at its root.

And the verb [: is defined to always give a domain error as its
result.  (Its primary use is to tell J that the left tine of a fork
should be ignored.)
