Mamak Session During Class

Today we had a class solely talking about mamak - and it even includes our previous prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir because he's a mamak. Yes, we're discussing everything in regards of mamak.

So what is 'mamak'? Mamaks are Indians who adopt Islamic religion. In other words, they're Indian Muslims. Locations where you can easily find them are at the Mamak stalls where people order roti canai, teh tarik and so on.

So what was interesting about today's class? Well it's not the discussion on who or where they come from. Rather it's the expansion and wild imaginations that got us excited and somewhat led us to lots of laughter. Alright so here's a few of our imagination-gone-wild:

"Eh you know, it'd be better off if the mamaks could achieve ISO 9000; they'll be certified in their services and food"

"Ooo, so there's gonna be like certified teh-tarik-er? and roti canai maker?"

"Haha, not to forget, after they get certified, they'll have their advertisements up and running, on delivery services provided in the vicinity"

"Oh Oh, they'll grow bigger, build a site... maybe Mamakz.net/v2? - the place to be?"

"What? they'll all venture into different fields, maybe even create their own institution... Asian Pacific Institution of Intelligent Mamaks (inside joke!) and when they graduate they'll be Informatic Mamaks! Booyah!"

"And and, they'll even make bigger names in the world say, MakDonaldz having their special Big Makz and Spicy Chicken Makdeluxe! or, or... they'll start off Mamak's Junior... Or Big Mamak selling mamak-style donuts..."

"One day there'll be a movie like Mamak Potter, Mamak and me, the dark Mamak, The revenge of the Mamakz, Fast n Furious 5: Mamak Drift, Mamak Dangerous..."

"They might even start developing applications on PCs to do expand their business - MamakShop CS5, MamakSoft XP Plofessional, or Mamak 7, or the I-Mak..."

KarMun's Birthday!

t's KarMun aka Carmen's aka Jenny's aka Rachel's Birthday about 2 weeks ago. Yes I know, I'm a bit, okay, VERY late on the post up. Was having some sort of trouble here though. Anyways, let's get on with the birthday ya.

On her birthday itself, I decided to give her a surprise. Meet up with her earlier, and wish her a happy birthday. But then, because she did not expect it, she actually had plans to do her hair for the night's birthday celebration. So what am I to do when I'm there?

It got boring and a few of us decide to have lunch while waiting for her to get done. However, her hair setup took longer than expected, so I had to go back first to change and get her presents ready.. and when I arrived at her place again, it was already time to celebrate! Her very happy 21st birthday =D

Everyday whether there's class or there's work, I seem to carry a number of bags around. These bags were heavy at first, but it's been a while since they've tagged along with me, they eventually became light.

I Feel Like a Soccer Ball..

Today was a very "interesting" day for my friends and I. How interesting was it? Hmm let me see, woke up early despite not having any classes today (supposingly this week is my sem break, unfortunately nothing good comes from my assigment). Went for breakfast, and then started off our "expedition for world domination" (pfft, yeah right, it's just an assignment)

So what's about this assignment? I'm required to do a research on Internet Service Provider (ISP) in regards of the connection, configuration, cost, and anything that relates to a Wide Area Network (WAN). Actually, we started the research since last week..

However, something was different today..

I made a huge discovery..

There are so many headquarters in TM Net..

I went to one TM Point, and they redirect me to another stating "Our HQ is located at [place]. You can get further technical details there". Then, when we got to the so-called HQ in another TM Point, we were told the same thing, however this time the HQ is refering to another place. Wow, total genius ei? Who would have thought that an ISP would have so many HQ. I guess it's for security purposes, or maybe it's just to keep us - the information-seeking-idiots away from their office.

We wasted half a day, just to find out that the ACTUAL HQ was located in Menara TM. But the story does not end there (oh surprise me).. We only got to know that it is the actual one, after speaking to one of the higher-positioned staffs there.. Before that, the same story happened, but we were too lazy to listen to them any further, we decided to request for their manager instead. Smart right?

Not long after speaking to the manager,

it is sad to know that our efforts

are simple a waste of time

(or maybe not)

We were told by the manager that we needed some specific details, in regards our of enquiries: who were we, why we needed to know, where were we from, authentication.

That wasn't the shocking part. The part where our college, one of the BIGGEST (did I say that clearly?) IT institution, is not known to them, nor even being heard of the name APIIT was the SHOCKING part. I mean, c'mon, how many IT institution are there that is as BIG as APIIT?

We showed our Student ID's and that wasn't enough, the manager didn't believe us. WTF. So we're asked to go back to college to get an official letter (when he could actually provide us the details we need on the spot). Then, off we went back to college, request for an official letter from the lecturer, who needs endorsement from the adminstrative staffs. After waiting a few hours, we finally gotten what we wanted, but I was too beat up to go back down to that part of KL. So I decided to fax in instead. By then it was already 3pm.

So TELL me,

duncha feel that I was in a soccer game?

*Sigh*

Bowling: With Chris Soh!

Last Friday, went for another session of bowling, well this time we have a special guest who voluntarily joined us. He is Mr. Chris Soh! *claps claps*

Guess what? This time around, I played 2 rounds (unlike previously, only 1 round)... And I pwned! I don't know what happened, or how I did it, but I managed to get loads of strikes.. Trust me, I was shocked myself.. I only read a little about bowling (lol, hell yeah! "How to Bowl, for Dummies", wtf)..

Like the week before, the others are already in the mid of their first round when I joined in. Of course without me, the actions weren't that BIG.. *chewah* (self-praising makes me happy =P)

Let's see how I did it in the first round..

Today's class ended earlier, and fortunately we had an after-class plan, that is BOWLING! at Endah Parade's Bowling Center.. I hadn't gone bowling since last year.. So don't be surprise to know that I can be very sucky at it.. Besides, bowling has not been a plus point for me, I only play it for fun.. (^_^)

So headed there after lunch, and I joined in only at the second game.. Man, watching us play was fun enough, what more bowling together?

Weirdest Logic

A few days ago, my memord card started corrupting, and by that it means that the card started to show some malfunctioning. And BECAUSE of THAT, some of my pictures including videos were corrupted.

Ended up with errors that pop-up: Device I/O error

so fast corrupt right? wtf..


Okies, that's not the weirdest logic YET..

the weirdest thing is when I went to Low Yat
to find out the problem.. How weird?
W.E.I.R.D I tell you..

A shorten conversation at the shop..
Me: My memory card has an error, it's not readable..
Techie: How come?
Me: (=.=") I don't know, suddenly it's not readable..
Techie: *takes a display camera, and reformats my card*
Me: Is it done? But how come I couldn't format it on my camera?
Techie: Sometimes the memory card is a little choosy..
Me: *wtf face* *calms down* Oh kayy..
Me: So what should I do to overcome this..
Techie: Oh, you should always format your card..
*suddenly a guy interrupted, apparently he was from SanDisk*
SanDiskGuy: The more you format, the better it is..
