Published!

I came in early today to do an experiment which I promptly realized was totally screwed up. I was quite upset that I was awake and in lab so early on a day when the boss wasn't here and I was thinking of how little I now had to do and how maybe I could leave early today. Then I went online to check out today's issue of Science and now it is kind of worth it. It is nice to see your name in print. It would be even nicer if my name was higher up (especially since I only really get credit towards graduating with papers relating to my thesis, on which I would be the first author), but I’ll take a Science paper.

Since I have not so much to do today, I'll most certainly be writing more posts to update on the focus group and an article in Rolling Stone entitled "Sex at Duke". But for now I'm going to be very, very happy (and tired).

UPDATE:
1. Anyone who reads the abstract and or the paper and who can understand anything wins a prize.

2. Is it bad that the editorial summary of it kind of misses (and kind of states the opposite of) one of the main points?

Hey there. Hope you don't mind me poppin'
in. Which article exactly are you referring to?

I'm kinda curious 'bout science, even though I'm in no way a scientist. I am however, responsible for all research communications at our university. So I can fake it pretty good.

Hi Meemo!! It is great to see you here. Of course I don't mind having you pop in.

I'm an author on "Preserved CD4+ Central Memory T cells and Survival in Vaccinated SIV-challenged Monkeys"

Well, I guess I basically understand the abstract (can't read the whole paper). What do I win??? (Although I guess I am kind of a ringer, though, so perhaps I should withdraw from the competition.) Congrats again on the paper, though!

Congrats, Iggy! Yay for you!

I understood several words in the abstract. In, the, of, humans, monkeys, etc. What do I win? *grin*

I had trouble navigating the page, let alone the article. I'm glad you told Meemo which one it was. I thought it might be the one on microtubules. Ooooh, my little secret santa person in print. I'm so proud.

SUV challenged monkeys? All right! Keep the keys to the SUV away from Gus!

Congrats Iggy! How very cool to have your name in print.
