Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) supplies electricity to most of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It was incorporated on 23 April 1998 and works under licences from NEPRA. PESCO's website says it serves over 3.74 million consumers through seven circles covering about 51,800 sq km.
This page shows you how to get your bill, read it, pay it and get help. Everything here comes from PESCO, NEPRA and PITC sources.
How to check, download and print your PESCO bill
- Find your reference number or customer ID on an old bill (see the table below).
- Type it in the box at the top of this page. Use digits only, with no spaces or dashes.
- Press Check Bill. Your latest PESCO bill opens on the official PITC bill page.
- To keep a copy, use your browser's Print option. Choose a printer, or choose Save as PDF to download it.
- Pay before the due date to avoid the late payment surcharge.
You can also go straight to the official page at bill.pitc.com.pk/pescobill. PESCO's own website links to it as "Duplicate Bill". No login or fee is needed.
Your reference number and customer ID
| Number | What it looks like | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| Reference No. | 14 digits, printed in groups with a letter at the end, for example 03 12345 6789012 U | Top left of the bill, in the consumer details section |
| Customer ID | 10 digits | Just below the reference number |
The reference number stays the same every month for the same connection, so any old bill will do. The online bill page searches by reference number or customer ID only. It does not search by CNIC, name or meter number.
Lost every old bill? Look in your banking or wallet app's payment history, or visit your PESCO sub-division office.
Searching for "PESCO bill Peshawar", "PESCO bill Mardan" or "PESCO bill Swat"? There is no separate page for each city. Every PESCO consumer, in any circle, uses the same bill page and the same reference number.
Where PESCO supplies power, and where it does not
PESCO does not cover the whole of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Two areas have their own companies:
Hazara division: HAZECO
Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, Upper and Lower Kohistan and Kolai Pallas were removed from PESCO's licence. NEPRA licensed HAZECO on 23 May 2025, and HAZECO says it started independent operations on 1 July 2025. Check these bills on our HAZECO bill page, using the reference number on your latest HAZECO bill.
Merged tribal districts: TESCO
The former FATA districts (Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, North and South Waziristan) and the former Frontier Regions are served by TESCO. TESCO began operating in 2007, and PESCO's network in these areas was moved to it. NEPRA granted TESCO's licence in 2013. See our TESCO bill page.
PESCO's own area is split into seven circles. This table shows each circle, the areas PESCO lists under it, and the circle complaint number from PESCO's Complaint Cell page.
| Circle | Main areas | Circle complaint number |
|---|---|---|
| Peshawar | Peshawar, Charsadda, Shabqadar | 091-9212523 |
| Khyber | Peshawar, Nowshera, Kohat, Hangu | 091-9217576 |
| Mardan | Mardan, Takht Bhai | 0937-9230288 |
| Swat | Dargai, Malakand, Buner, Timergara, Dir, Khwazakhela, Shangla | 0946-9240367 |
| Bannu | Bannu, Lakki, Karak | 0928-9230288 |
| Swabi | Swabi | 0938-221209 |
| DI Khan | Dera Ismail Khan, Tank | 0966-850056 |

What your PESCO bill shows
NEPRA's Consumer Service Manual lists what an electricity bill should contain. These are the parts people ask about most:
| On the bill | What it means |
|---|---|
| Billing month | The month the bill is for. |
| Tariff and load | Your category (such as residential) and your sanctioned load. |
| Reading date | The day your meter was read. |
| Previous and present reading | The two meter readings. The difference is your units used. |
| Issue date and due date | When the bill was issued and the last day to pay without a surcharge. |
| Arrears | Unpaid amount from earlier bills. |
| Late payment surcharge (LPS) | Added if you pay after the due date. |
| Billing history | Twelve months of bills and payments. |
The bill also shows your division, sub-division and feeder name, and the contact numbers of your XEN and SDO. Paid a bill but it still shows as due? Keep your receipt and use our bill paid status check.
How to pay your PESCO bill
NEPRA's Consumer Service Manual (PESCO publishes it on its website) lists these ways to pay an electricity bill:
- Bank branches and post offices in your city or district.
- Online, and by ATM card or credit card where possible. Banking apps and mobile wallets such as JazzCash and Easypaisa have an electricity bill option. Choose PESCO and enter your reference number.
- NADRA kiosks.
The manual says the due date must be within 15 days of the issue date, and you get at least 7 clear days after the bill reaches you. If the due date is a holiday, it moves to the next working day. Keep your receipt until the next bill shows the payment. For step-by-step app instructions, read how to pay electricity bills online in Pakistan.
PESCO helpline and complaints
| Channel | Details | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Helpline | 118 | Power cuts, faults, unsafe wires |
| SMS | 8118 | Logging a complaint without a call |
| Online | ccms.pitc.com.pk/complaint | Supply, billing and meter complaints with a ticket number |
| Circle office | See the circle table above | If 118 has not fixed it. Give them your ticket number. |
| Central Complaint Cell | 0370-1341078 (call or WhatsApp) | When the customer service centre does not respond |
| Mobile app | Power Smart (Android) | Linked from PESCO's website for customer services |
Always note your ticket number. If PESCO does not solve your problem, you can complain to NEPRA through its Complaint Management System.
Load-shedding and shutdown schedules
PESCO's website links to these official places:
- Load-shedding schedule by feeder on the PITC complaint system.
- Load Management Schedule (PDF).
- Emergency shutdowns and planned maintenance work.
Your feeder name is printed on your bill. If your area is not on any list and the power is off, call 118.
New PESCO connection: the basics
PESCO's website links to the ENC online portal (enc.com.pk) for new connections. You can also apply in person at your sub-division office. After you apply, you get a tracking or case ID. You then pay the demand notice online or at a designated bank.
NEPRA's Consumer Service Manual lists these main documents for a new connection:
- Ownership proof of the premises.
- An affidavit from the owner on Rs 50 non-judicial stamp paper.
- Attested CNIC copies of the applicant and a witness (and of the owner, if you are a tenant).
- For tenants: a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the owner.
- An approved map or site plan where required. Houses inside approved housing societies do not need one.
Companies need extra papers, such as the certificate of incorporation. Your sub-division office will tell you if anything is missing.
Name change, load and other requests
The same Consumer Service Manual covers other common requests: change of name, extension or reduction of load, change of tariff and shifting a connection. Each one needs an application form and an attested CNIC copy, plus other papers.
For a change of name, for example, the manual asks for ownership proof or a sale deed, a copy of the last paid bill (with no arrears or installments pending), an attested CNIC copy and the power supply contract. Ask at your sub-division office for the forms. Our guide on changing the name on your electricity bill explains the steps.
PESCO's website also links to a Know Your Customer (KYC) registration page on the PITC system. It also publishes electrical safety guides for the public, which are worth reading before the monsoon.
PESCO tariff and unit price
PESCO's rates are set by NEPRA and change from time to time, so we do not copy a rate list here. You can find the official decisions on NEPRA's PESCO tariff page, which PESCO's website links to. Your own rate depends on your tariff category, which is printed on your bill. To understand the fixed part of your bill, see fixed monthly charges on electricity bills.
