My recent life in pictures (and a few words)

Oh, where to start.  This all might not be in order and there might not be a lot of content but I love my family and I'm using this as an excuse to show them off.

Recently we went to the mountains to go sledding.  Well, to watch our child go sledding in reality because I'm too old and that's just not fun for a fat aging asthmatic (though I did go down once).
I did not dress warm enough either.

Not a lot of pics but a before and after of my lovely fiance who transformed from an Eskimo to an Ewok within 30 minutes.

My phone added effects on it's own!

We all ended up shopping recently to purchase a shirt.  We had our boy, her sisters boy and her brothers boy all together at the same time and they wanted to do some posing.  The following is the results.  Notice how we have almost every color of the rainbow with us :)

We went to Ethel M's in Henderson to view the Cactus Garden while it was all lit up with Xmas lights.
We went last year and will probably continue to make this a family tradition as it really does look lovely late at night all lit up, even if it's chilly.

We ended up having someone ask us to take their picture and in return they would take ours as well.  Two out of the 3 that they took turned out good - the last - not so much.

And some Video

Today was day 2 of inventory - on my way home I had to pick up some prescriptions and I thought I'd treat myself to a relaxing adult beverage!

Drinking

I am not sure if this is something that should be admitted, but I love being drunk.
That feeling between buzzed and fucked up is one of the best feelings in the world and if you get to share it with others then more power to you.

However, once I get in that "zone" I do admit to some un-pure thoughts.
The first being Del Taco.

I know I have said this before (and I think VegasDWP commented) but when I'm drunk I sure do love me some Del Taco.  I've got this huge craving for it right now but I don't feel that risking driving there and back is really worthwhile.

I want to order 4-8 taco's and some of their hot sauce and just chow down.  Oh does that sound tantalizing right about now.

So, to all you sober people - I'm sorry.
To all my drunk peeps - someone stop by Del Taco for me and chow down a bit since I don't get to.

Now, to get some sleep and wake up way too bloody early.
I accidentally volunteered myself to wake up early and go help unload the truck and throw freight and I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to be capable of doing that but I'll try my damnedest.

And here is a link to the reason why I love the band Sweaty Nipples - Enjoy

A Rogue Work Week

Last night while in a drinking mood I headed out and by random happenstance I decided to pull into a Lee's Discount Liquor instead of hitting up the local grocery store.
I had no idea what I was actually looking for but I scanned through the different coolers looking at the random beers that were presented to me (they sell 6 packs of Arrogant Bastard Ale - I wish I liked this stuff but my wallet is glad I don't) when I stumbled upon my favorite (out of two) Rogue Ale - Dead Guy.
It's so much more bitter than I am used to but that doesn't appear to stop me from chugging the bottle down anyways.  There is just something underneath that bitterness that I really enjoy.

Also, at the suggestion of Chuck (an annoy reader) I ended up picking up a bag of Popchips in order to try to satiate my craving of potato chips.  I fully expected to tear into this bag and devour it, instead I ate approximately one serving and quit very happy to have that hunger quenched.  I'm now a happy grrouch!

I'm kind of looking forward to this week at work.  This is going to be the first full week that I have help.  Next week will consist of me having LOTS of help as my co-worker on leave comes back as well.  Today I'll be making an attempt to talk to the Store Manager about my future in the office, where she thinks it should go and where I think it should go.  Of course, I said attempt because it's hard to get a Store Manager to stop moving long enough to talk sometimes as they have so much crap going on.

I have no plans today but the 3rd and 4th are both looking up.  Rib dinner with friends and family on the 3rd as a pre 4th celebration and also a post old man's birthday celebration and I'm really looking forward to chowing down on some ribs.
Then on the 4th I'll be watching the fireworks from somewhere - the where has yet to be determined.

I have a 4th of July post in the works, I've got the main part of it written but I struggle with whether I should post it or not.  It's a story from my youth about why the 4th just hasn't held any thrill for me in the last two decades or so.  Only time will tell - I've still got two more days to figure that out.

Vacation starts after work on Friday - I can't wait!

Tonight's Festivities

Back to work today and it was quite a busy one.  No one had touched my office since I left on Friday and there was a lot of stuff that needed to be done.
1st and foremost I had to start looking for potential issues caused by people being lazy and cut them off at the path if possible and oddly enough there were a few and they were all right out in the open.

One of the fun things about the system we have at work is that a lot of our installed sales actually auto-fax to our installer.  However, you'll notice that I didn't say all of them.

Another fun thing is that we let the customer know that the installer has two business days to contact them (provided we aren't waiting for the product to arrive) and of course the customers only hear what they want.  So, take both of those things and add into the mix that good old uncle grrouch wasn't there over the last 3 days and what do you get?
Angry people.

We install water softeners and with those we have a special contract that needs filled out and faxed over (not in the computer, completely manual) and because of that these installs do not auto-fax.

So, I arrive to work on Tuesday to see that we have sold 5 of these since last I graced my office.  Two of them on Friday.  NONE of them were faxed because we can't actually expect sales people to follow through and do anything that they can to make sure that their customer gets taken care of.  No, the simple art of faxing a few pieces of paper over to the installer to help avoid any situations is too much to expect of a bunch of lazy, good for nothing specialists.  Instead - this is someone else's job and just leave it.  The great thing is I got to field a few phone calls from cranky customers wondering why in the hell they have not been contacted yet, etc.  Without saying "Your sales person doesn't give a fuck about the sale after they have your money" I get to come up with some lame excuse and then start calling installers asking for favors.
"Hey, I know that I just faxed this to you 20 minutes ago, but It really sold 4 days ago and my associates are lazy bastards.  Could you Plugheeze contact the customer today? This hour? As soon as I get off the phone with you?
I love it.

And then there I was, six minutes until I got to punch out and go home.  Manager walks into my office and hands me a phone and says "hey, could you be MOD while the Manager meeting is going on?"
grrouch: "But it's time for me to go home in 6 minutes"
Mngr: "that's ok - one of the department heads will be out in just a few minutes, they can take the phone from you."

1 hour 15 minutes later the Dept Heads leave the meeting. I know the receiving guy is going home so I don't say anything to him.  I approach one "Hey, I need you to take the phone and play MOD till the meeting is done"
"Sorry bro, I'm scheduled to leave right now so I can't"
I approach #2 "Hey, you - Phone - MOD - Now"
"Nope, I'm clocking out and going home"
And #3 "Yo baby pops, you wanna hold onto this phone and love it long time"
"I can't, they told me to go to lunch since I'm hitting my 6th hour"

So, not a single Department Manager cared enough to help out and take one for the team and instead the stupid grrouch gets an extra two and a half hours of work to make sure that everything runs smoothly on the phone while the Managers all sit in an office and stroke each others ego's or whatever the hell it is that they really do for 3 hours.

Good news is that I'll be leaving early on Friday.
Better news is that it's almost Beer Thirty.
