Crazy Love!

Music: Winning the Battle, Losing the War by Kings of Convenience

Michael Buble...my first concert of the year..
It is so far the mellowest con I've ever been to.
Well, of course I did not expect to be screaming on the top of my lungs and jumping like a crazy woman at Buble con.
Although I'm not a fan, I can only withstand a certain dosage of jazz and only to a certain level before I start thinking its all slightly unpleasant noise.
His performance was great and he sang beautifully..
And I do like his pop songs.
He started off with Cry Me A River.. no it wasn't not a rendition of JT's song.
On the first half of the show he belted out some tunes off his Crazy Love album..
and some from his previous albums..
if my memory is not already dying.. he sang Everything, All of Me, Georgia in My Mind, At This Moment, Mack The Knife, For Once In My Life.. (I might be jumbling some songs here and there, can't exactly remember which songs he sang when).
Total show time was only about 1hr 40 minutes, including encore.
I was expecting his con to be a little on the boring side considering the genre of his music..
But what caught by surprise was how much he talked!
He was mostly cracking jokes, he could totally change careers to a standup comedian if he wanted to!!
He said Malaysia is a beautiful country, and the women are beautiful.
Like I've never heard that before (from some other concerts I went to lol).
He also mentioned that he met Jimmy Choo on the MAS flight to KL, and he's engaged (to an Argentinian).
And his band introduction was by far the longest I've ever witnessed!
His ensemble of musicians was quite big.. well, it is jazz.
In addition to the guitars and drummers and occasionally piano/keyboard,
there were (if i remember correctly), 3 trumpeteers, a tenor sax, an alto sax, a trombonist.. hmm did i miss anybody? maybe.
So in introducing his band members, he starts of with some real or fiction stories (i wouldnt know) of them, why he likes (or dont like) about them, all in good humor.. before mentioning their names.
He even said the tenor sax guy is a Malaysian and we should all be proud of him!
When the crowd were cheering a tad bid longer for this guy then Buble said..
wow... actually he's not Malaysian but man, the way u guys open up ur arms for him unconditionally was amazing.. hahahaha.. im not sure what to believe really.
Earlier in the show he stopped to sign a banner for one of the audience.
And suddenly a rush of ppl starting running towards the stage to have their items signed too but of course only a few managed to get it.
Half way through the show he came off the stage and started walking to the other end, opposite the stage, behind the audience on the main floor while singing (I forgot what song).
Reminds me of Gwen Stefani's concert... she did the same thing, but was more all over the place, climbing here and there..
Before that, he did a cover of Billie Jean, complete with some crotch grabbing action, and then Twist and Shout by the Beatles.
At this point I stood up, as with most of the ppl in the stadium.
I was getting bored a bit sitting down.
It would be a total bummer if i have to sit all the way through a concert. So wrong!
Then, on a small stage set up there, saying that Malaysia is one of the the first places where his career took off, he sang Home.. nice bodek la brader!
Next song was All I Do Is Dream of You and walked back to the stage..
Next up..
"This song is to give hope to all the singles out there!"
So yeah u guessed it, Haven't Met You Yet was next.
Other songs he sang during the second part of the show are, again, if my memory is has already melted, are Heartache Tonight, I've Got The World On A String...and a cover song.
I've mentioned this before, but usually there will one song in a concert that is just perfect, make me feel the energy and suck in the atmosphere of the stadium, a song that I can enjoy with my eyes closed.. that happened when he sang Feeling Good, his first song during the encore.
Then the ever wonderful song about infidelity, Me and Mrs Jones..
And he ended the show with A Song For You..
And he pulled the best gimmick of the night..
Suddenly the hall went dark, the band continued playing...and then stopped and the lights came on again, the band now was now gone (go curtain la), and Buble was standing in the middle of the stage, in front of the curtains, smiling..
Gesturing for the audience to be silent.. he sang... without a mic!
His voice reached us sitting wayyyy far up there..
Some ppl woooh-ed after every line he sang.. and ppl husheddd each other so we can hear him sing the next line..
I've never seen anyone done it before, so yeah, it was really cool! and awesome.

As much as I enjoyed Buble's concert, he is a wonderful performer, but personally it wasn't worth the 300 bucks I paid for it.
This is probably, largely because, I'm not a big fan, it was a mellow concert, and the show was less than 2 hrs!!
What are those guys who paid RM800 thinking? hahaha.
I just wanted to see Buble because I know he's a good performer so the money paid was to see a quality show, which it was.
But as to my own reasons to what makes a concert or gig awesome and great and mind blowing.. this wasn't it.
But no matter, I had a great time nonetheless and I found out that Buble can totally be a successful Funny Man!

Stadium Stories

Last weekend, I wanted to go to the Double Trouble concert, but i hesitated on buying the tickets, thinking that if i wanted to, i'd buy them on the day itself at the concert venue. But one day before the concert, my friend offered me tickets to Tokio Hotel and Ungu's concert. He told me to choose. I don't even know if Tokio Hotel is a group from Japan or US, and compared to them, at least I knew some Ungu songs (which wasn't really the case, will elaborate later). So naturally, free vs buying tickets.. amik yg free lah. So much for double trouble, but I've seen Awie and Amy Search perform before with their respective groups Wings and Search went I attended the Malindo concert a few years ago. And then it was a no brainer between Tokio Hotel and Ungu. Plus I wanted to check out the stage setup and seatings for concerts held at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil. I've been criticizing all this while without actually been to one held there before, so it would be good to see if I was right or wrong. And boy was I wrong. I honestly thought the stage would be placed on the field, when in actual fact its on the track therefore the stage is very much closer to the stands than i thought. And the stadium was not as big as i remembered it. Maybe with the presence of the stage and it being night time made it look smaller than it actually was. From where I sat (next to the royal box), the view wasn't bad at all!. So now that I know, I will consider future concerts should they be held at the National stadium, provided reasonable pricing for bands/artists that I actually would pay to see (I also found out that I couldve gotten free tickets to Kelly Clarkson's concert if I had asked, bummer). So that night of Ungu's concert, Akademi Fantasia was concurrently on at the Putra Stadium. But there was no traffic jam at all. Hmm. Sampai2 sana, my friend brought us in, and then to a room where there was free food, beriyani sedap gila ok. Sat down and chit chatted a bit with some strangers in the room. The strangers turned out to be Dina (Malaysian Idol) and some guy from AF1 whose name starts with the letter A. I didn't know who these people were until they went on stage before the concert (they were the emcees) and introduced themselves. Then Ungu members came on stage one by one around 9pm, after the VVIP arrived. They were the Raja Puan Muda Perlis and Sultan Kelantan's daughter. I also found out that night that VIP no.1 is my uncle's niece. So technically, I'm related to kerabat perlis by marriage (very far lah tapi). What a bizarre revelation! You'd think it'd make more sense for me to be related to kelantan's royal family right. So the opening number for Ungu, never heard before. It turned out that I knew only 2 songs from the entire concert, and it was a 2-hour concert. And these 2 songs are kekasih gelapku and demi waktu, 2nd and last songs on their setlist, respectively. And I am ashamed (not really) to say that I was only familiar with the chorus part for both songs. Nevertheless, the concert was very enjoyable, thanks to Ungu frontman who talked a lot and was really funny seriously! and kinda cute too. I've probably seen him in their videoclips during karaoke sessions but I've never really noticed. One of the guitarist was not too bad too. A little more than halfway through the members changed instruments, the lead singer took the drums, guitarist took vocals and drummer played the guitar. For just one song, and then they changed back coz the (real) vocalist said, "wey penat laa main drum ni kenapa la aku tukar, aku nak nyanyi balik".. well not exactly in those words lah, he was talking in indonesian but that's what he meant. I wouldn't know how to reproduce his exact sentence in indonesian. Halfway through the concert the VVIPs left the royal box and went to the mosh pit which wasnt exactly one technically coz there were chairs so they took the front row chairs which i thought previously there were commoners (lol) seating there but i guess they were told to vacate their seats for the royalties. And the vvips stayed there till the end of the show. In conclusion, it was a very good and enjoyable concert, and i wouldn't mind attending a concert at the national stadium, except if its Beyonce or Rihanna whom I've banned going to their show, for life. Hahaha.

On to other things.

Its May now which means its spring commencement all around the universities in the States and this year's U of Michigan's graduation was being addressed by none other than Barack Obama. Previously, there was Bill Clinton and Bush and the co-founder of Google Larry Page who is a UofM alumni.. he got his Comp Eng degree there (just like me! haha, could i have founded something great like Google? ahahahaha dream on). During my time? I can't even remember. But then again, i graduated in winter, whereby commencement ceremonies are generally muted. Doesn't really matter. Actually, what I really want to say is that, if only the obama precidency campaign and subsequently his election as president of usa aka king of the world happened during my time in college. I can almost imagine the atmosphere, the rallies, the banners, the hype and all that around campus. I loved the whole election affair and atmosphere on campus when it was Kerry vs Bush back in 2004. I followed the election closely and was pretty sucked into the whole process. And that was nothing compared to the Obama vs McCain campaign. Seeing the picture of Mary Sue Coleman sitting next to Obama on the stage at Michigan Stadium really stirred up some crazy feelings inside me, almost nostalgic and melancholy. It is my life dream to visit Ann Arbor again... not anytime soon, but some day.. it will happen...any takers my fellow Wolverines?

3 hours to go before shift is over. Sambung Dexter S4 marathon.

p/s: i quote Conan O Brien aka Coco "If you look up 'Google' on Google from Google, you see the face of God". Damn this guy is hilarious.

Zee Hour

Music: Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden

So Zee Avi performed for an hour on Saturday night.
The emcee for the night was Aaron from The Biggest Loser Asia.. 2nd runner up? Aku tak tau aa sbb tak tengok itu show. He's quite funny lah!
She came on stage a little after 8.30pm.
She had a super huge hair-do hahahaha, I wasn't shocked though coz most of the gigs put on youtube semua rambut camtu gak.
And she's so freakin small the guitar might as well swallow her up.
Her crew consisted of Reed the drummer and Frank the cellist and guitarist.
She started with Poppy..
After that she said "hi everyone, its good to be back home, I'm Zee Avi"...
And started getting all emotional and almost cried.. maybe she did shed a tear or two...
"So who here are fans of Interpol?!"
Obviously her next song was a cover lah.. Slow Hands..
Followed by The Traveller.. I've been trying to download this mp3 since forever but tak jumpa2 sampai skarang.
Next was another cover I think.. I don't know the song or by whom.. the lyrics went like.. "I think I've done it again broke your heart all for a friend.." something like that. Tel, help?
Then she sang Honey Bee and Bitter Heart to the delight of the crowd, who sang along with her throughout, including yours truly!
"This next poem I just wrote recently.. it's called Madness"
I thought she was gonna recite us something la she put down her guitar, but then she picked up a bottle and a pen or something and her crew started playing this song it had the hawaiian tune sort of.
Then she picked up her ukulele and people started shouting Kantoi!!
"Be patient you guys". hahahah.
Just You And Me was next and the lyrics for this song was the one used by the emcee prior to the gig for a contest, one guy won return tickets to Bali for two. Lucky dude.
She sang another cover next, Date With The Night by the Yeah3.
"Usually, everywhere else, I have to say.. this is a mix of Malay and English.. Manglish.. yes it exists"
And theeennnnn she finally sang Kantoi..
1..2..3..4... she started playing, the drums came in and it was a total mess... literally kantoi nampaknya!
"Whoa whoa whoa..... what's this??" she stopped the band and they started over.
It was only their 2nd gig together, but still not an excuse, but maybe jugak it was just a gimmick? who knows right.
After that she started talking summore...
"So I can't say this enough, I'm so glad to be back!!!"
Thanked the sponsors.. and Tony Fernandes who was sitting at the upper deck.
"If there is one person that I'm really thankful for, its my dad, come out here dad!! "
Hug2 kiss2...
"Here's an early birthday present for you..." and she gave him a huge picture frame of herself in there was a plat for her reaching gold status in Malaysia and also her album. Vain pot much? hhahaha just kidding.
"This is gonna be my last song of the night.."
I was like, damn baru 9.30pm. tipu lahh.. takkan tu je kot. No encore?
And she hasn't even sung half of the songs from her album!
But thank god the last was First of the Gang to Die.. Morrissey cover....my favorite, like I mentioned.
Perfect ending!!! She was kinda high when she sang this song. I can totally relate.
Then she went back stage for the press conference.
But the audience didnt want to go back and kept shouting "We want more! One more song!"
Aaron came on stage and talk2 trying to calm the audience down.
And after 10 minutes or so, Zee Avi came back!
Her press conference had to be put on hold for a while ahahha...
She was alone this time, had to re-tune her guitar.. obviously it wasnt rehearsed and mmg totally impromptu.
She sang Monte, which she named after her guitar, and in the middle she kantoi sikit, sikit je la..
And then she was gone for good lah.
Her voice is much stronger than what we hear in her recordings, which is a good thing.
And lastly, if I ever get the chance to talk to her, I'd ask her to do a cover of SP's Let Me Give The World To You.
I really like KL Live, its small and has a very intimate setting.
Perfect for acoustic gigs like hers.
Placebo's concert kat sana last week must've been really awesome lah...
Up close and personal rock concert? Gila bestttttttttttttt!!!!

The following are official pics by airasiaredtix. I didn't bring my camera to the event.

Getting the tickets I won. They didn't even ask for the stuff that I'm supposed to trade in the tix with.
Itu saya dan Dy sedang beratur nak masuk.
Itu saya dan Dy. See us? D and Tel belum sampai.
Aaron the emcee giving us a good laugh.
ZA and guitar singing Poppy.
Frank.

Reed.
ZA knocking on the bottle singing Madness.
ZA and ukulele singing Just You And Me (kot).
Press conference.

Lucky Friday

Music: The Story by Zee Avi

To receive even one good news in a day is unusual.
But to get not one, not two, but three good news in a day is definitely a rare occurrence, for me at least.

The day started like normal, woke up at 10am.
Ate breakfast, checked my emails, and watched the latest episodes of gossip girl, private practice and greek.
Got ready to go to work at 3.30pm.

As soon as I stepped into the control room, the first thing my friend said to me was..
"Weh kita dah confirm dapat 6-man".
Omg gila bestttttttttttttttttt!!!
I was so excited but I had to contain it or else, I'd be jumping up and down and shouting like a (very happy) mad woman.
Ok a brief explanation, our roster cycle used to have 6 people but since Dec 2008 it was reduced to 5 people and let me tell you that the past 1 year and 4 months has been mentally and physically exhausting, work and social activities combined.
Working in shift is not a bed or roses, as some might think so when they only see the days I get off but what about the weekends and public holidays and raya that I have to work and the staying up all night and the troubles of trying to sleep and the fucked up body cycle and the missed weddings and gatherings and the permanent dark circles under my eyes and omg i can go on and on..., and the things that I have to sacrifice to make myself available for these things, when I can easily choose not to join but I do coz its what important to me, connections with people and spending time with friends and family.
I may not talk about it or show it much though, I think its a waste of time and energy to complain about work to the people outside when I could be doing and talking about something more fun than work.
Plus I've done enough bitching with my office mates, I don't need to do it with my friends, most wouldn't understand anyway.
I eventually stopped bitching at the office too coz it was too draining and I was starting to get demoralized with all the bitterness surrounding the atmosphere.
So you can see how this single piece of news was enough to make my day, no, make that the rest of my year!
Haha.
Everything will be back to normal soon.
My boss said "Kalau blackout pun tempat ni sure still terang sbb muka korang semua bersinar-sinar!"
Well saiddddddddddddd!!

So then after hand over shift, checked my office email and surprise surprise, the day got even better.
My visit to the Western Power Control Center in Perth is on its way to being materialized!
I told my boss that I'm going for a vacation there next month and is it possible if i make a private/unofficial visit to their control room.
I just inquired for the sake of it, didn't think I'd get anything out of it.
But then my boss said he had contacts there and he will try to get in contact with the appropriate persons for me.
Still I wasn't really hopeful.
The WPSO didn't have any obligations to accomodate me, I mean its not like its an official visit where a TNB delegation goes over there for a technical/friendly visit between utilities right.
But there it was, in front of me, the emails exchanged between my boss and his counterpart from WPSO, cc-ed to me.
This is great news!! To be able to go see how other control centers operate and to get to know other Grid System Operators.
We've had GSOs from PLN (Indonesia) and EGAT (Thailand) before but I've never gotten the opportunity to meet them as I had to work when they came over to visit TNB.
Ok although this visit is still yet to be confirmed, but at least I can see the chance that it might actually happen right! Fingers crossed!

They day continued and suddenly I received an email from AirasiaRedTix (the ticketing office that's handling online sales for Zee Avi's gig tonight).

There are 10 winners and I'm one of them, yeay!
Actually, I had a feeling I would win the tickets.
The contest was opened after I bought my tickets to the show.
You had to take a picture of an item that is precious to you and trade with them and a give brief description/explanation for free ZA tickets.
I wasn't interested at first coz I didn't think I had anything worth trading for right?
The contest ended Thursday at midnight, and I submitted my entry on Thursday evening.
These are what I offered them.

My precious ticket stubs. Its only 2 of the 4 that I've ever kept from all the gigs and concerts I've ever been to.
I thought of giving all of them the other two is Weezer's and Matchbox Twenty's.
But there weren't anything meaningful I can say about those 2 concerts.
Of course I like them but it didn't have the wow factor.
This is the email that I sent.

This is the second time I've won a contest. The first time was after SPM when all I did was listen to Hitz.fm all day and I called in and won rm400 that time. That was pretty awesome actually. Free money baby. Actually, I was supposed to get something from Red.fm. Sometime last month they called me..
I'm registered with Red.fm a longgggg time ago and so whenever they give the cue to sms for a contest, I can simply text the number without giving them any information and the announcers will choose to call anyone from the list of people who sent the text to them coz they have these people in their database already, something like that i think.
So I was on the way to work at 8am in the morning on a weekend and was listening to Red.fm and it was cue to sms for the anwer 10 questions correctly in 1 minute contest.
And whaddaya knowww.. they blardy called me lah..
The thing was, I was actually on the phone speaker with my boss at the time and suddenly I had to answer my cell phone to JD and Dilly shouting.. "Shakirahhhh Shakirahh!!!" you know.. the tune from Hips Don't Lie..
Thank god my other friend belum balik lagi so he took over talking to the boss for me hhahaha.
I had no idea whether it was live or not.
I didnt even know anything about the contest, suka hati je sms on cue hahahahahha.
So anyway, I only managed to answer 5 questions kot. And got 2 wrong.
Yeah yeah.. how the hell should I know what's the capital of Ethiopia???? Heheheh
(Btw, its Addis Ababa, now i know lah!!)
They took my details after that and said they'll call me sometime next week to tell me where to pick-up my goodie bag.
But I've never gotten that call up to this day.
Well, doesn't matter really.

I digress.
So with 2 free tickets, offered mine to D and Tel (tak amik untung ok! if it were to some other unimportant people in my life, would've sold them for RM55 the original selling price without discount.. kalau lagi mata duitan aku boleh je jual RM70 ke kan.. hahahaha)
And last night after I came home from work I saw this on fb:

I've never introduced myself as Kirah to these people before. suka hati je diorang ni kan!

p/s: I don't really value the ticket stubs that much, but I thought it was the perfect thing for this contest, that's why I was almost confident I'd win the tix. But because they announced the results quite late, supposedly by 12pm on Friday but I only knew about at 5pm, so I thought, ok so I didn't win it after all.  But what I said about those concerts are definitely true :)

Green Day Hangover

Music: Life After You by Chris Daughtry

Yes I'm still dreaming and re-living all those awesome moments and feelings last Thursday..

Here's the link to the article written by my favorite concert-reviewer, Micheal Cheang:
King For A Day

And here's an article from a Singaporean newspaper (click on pic to enlarge and read it):

Both articles pretty much described exactly, in better words, what I wrote in my last entry...

Time of My Life!

Music: No Surprise by Daughtry

So last Thursday I was in Merlion City for what else if not Green Day's concert!
And what can I say, it was one of THE best concert I've ever been to!!!
Coming from a concert freak like me.. its a strong statement.
I can confidently say that the con was on par with Metallica's.. which I've been to twice and takes top spot in my list. But they're both awesome in different ways..

At Metallica's, I was mostly in awe and feeling high (like I was stoned but I wasn't) and the surreal feeling lasted for 2 and half hours..
Its like I couldn't believe I was privileged enough to sing along with James Hetfield whose voice I can just drown into and listen to Kirk Hammet playing his solos live..
And of course their performance and singing were flawless and perfect and everything.
It was a dream come true for me..

At GD's, I was pumped high with adrenalin, heart beating so fast due to the non stop jumping up and down, shouting like a maniac and screaming at the top of my lungs for almost every single song..
And Billie Joe Armstrong was the ultimate performer AND entertainer..
The whole band donned all black shirts and pants.
The first thing he commanded when he came on stage was.. "STAND UP!!"..."ON YOUR FEET!!"..
But I was already standing as soon as the lights went out lah.. hahaha...
Behind us were like five kids barely the age of 12 I think, what do these kids know about GD? and of course I didnt give a damn if I blocked their view.
The first song was 21st Century Breakdown (well technically it was Song of The Century but that's just the intro in the album a verse of 4 lines that BJ sang from behind the stage before the band members came on stage).. and belum sempat sampai the chorus of 21st CB, they stopped abruptly coz the barrier in front of the stage kinda fell and the bodyguards/bouncers were trying to put everything back in order..
So GD stopped playing and BJ said.. "ok hold on guys, we gotta get this fixed first.." or something along that line.. and then they continued singing the song.. hahaha belum pape dah kecoh right..
At least 5 people got to go on stage.. coz BJ just pulled people up like its a normal thing..
One girl came on stage then he whispered to the girl (she looked barely 15!!) then BJ started singing and that girl suddenly dropped dead on the stage during the ending of East Jesus Nowhere.. hahahhhaha..
BJ probably gave her instructions on what to do.. like a gimmick sort of.
Then and BJ interviewed her and stuff.. normal questions like where are you from etc..
Another girl (much older, probably mid twenties) came up and BJ let her sing the chorus of Are We The Waiting while he sang the verses.. damnnn so cool!!!! and she sang in tune pulak tuh! tak sumbang! BJ has a low pitch and the girl sang an octave higher..
One guy went on stage and got to dive into the audience summore! I've only seen that during live concerts on tv okay..
Ok that's not even the best part.. it was time for Long View BJ asked the audience.. "i need a volunteer.. who here knows the lyrics to the whole song?" he went left and right and finally this scrawny guy wearing a black sleeveless tshirt and fluorescent green spiky hair (nampak sangat la hardcore fan) came on stage and then BJ gave him the mic and the band started playing..
Green haired guy sang the whole bloody song to perfection!!!!
Not only that, there were parts when he gestured the mic to the audience.. chorus parts that he knows for sure the audience would know the lyrics to..
He ran left and right, up and down the stage..
During the last part of the song, we went up the drummer's stage (which was elevated) and jumped down and the crowd cheered like crazy..
Damn he was like a pro!! and he wasn't planted I'm sure of it..
And of course he dived at the end of the song..
The whole thing was the coolest thing I've ever seen at any concert..
GD was super cool and awesome to let anyone do that... it was crazy..
At the end BJ kneeled down and made the "you're a dewa" gesture with his head and hands up and down.
The first 10 or so songs they sang were from their second last (American Idiot) and latest (21st Century Breakdown) album..
The second part of the con they sang their previous hits like Hitchin' A Ride, Welcome to Paradise, Basket Case, Long View, Brain Stew, She.. the crowd went wilddddddddd!!! I too went wild!!
It was crazy...
They also did some covers like Black Sabbath's Iron Man and AC/DC's Highway To Hell..
When they covered Shout, Hey Jude, Love Me Tender and Satisfaction... with the background riff from King Of A Day, the whole band were laying down flat on the stage floor the whole way.. playing their guitars over their belly and BJ with his mic and only the drummer lah couldn't play..
And the audience sang soooo loud especially the na-na-na part from Hey Jude.. it was such an awesome moment, and view from my seat.
Skali ni BJ nyanyi lagu Pink and the audience boo-ed and we were reprimanded.. "Heyy! I like Pink!!"
Most of GD's songs are short right... but they always make it longer.. there's always some sing along moment where we imitate what BJ sang and the sounds he made...
His particular favorite was "Heyyyy ohhhhhhh!!"
He had water hoses and guns and sprayed water to the mosh pit...
And then he had this tshirt gun and gave away free tshirts to the audience..
There was another gun like equipment that belted out toilet paper rolls!
At one point Tre Cool the drummer wore a red bra over his black shirt and paraded around the stage..
it was hilariousssssssssss!
Tre threw his drumsticks in the air at the end of each song... that's a lot of drumsticks considering they played like 30 songs give or take.
BJ also played the harmonica..
The second last song was 21 Guns which was also a crowd favorite and then terus masuk Minority such a hyper song to end with.. and that song holds a special meaning for me (that's another story).
But all was not over yet coz I know they have encores... not one.. but two!!
(I know this in advance looking at their setlist 2 days prior for their con in Bangkok).

Not even 3 minutes passed and they came back for their 1st encore with American Idiot..
Continued with Jesus of Suburbia.. which is one of my favorites from their latest album...gila best ok!!!!
Its a 7 minute song on the record..
But according to Micheal Cheang they played the song for 9 minutes during the con...
Oh yeah during the concert I was hoping that Micheal Cheang would attend the concert as well and write a review of it in Star Two..
I first noticed him when he wrote that wonderful review on Coldplay's con last year.. and from then on I've always looked forward to his articles in Star Two (various topics).
In his review for GD's con (yes he did write one to my delight, Star Two last Monday), he even said Coldplay's was lame compared to GD!!
So can u imagine how crazy GD's concert was?!

For the second encore, BJ came out alone with his acoustic guitar..
The stadium went dark with only a blue spot light on BJ..
And then he started playing Last Night On Earth acoustic...
It was during this moment when I fell in love with BJ... hahahahahhaha
Ok this always happens to me during concerts.. moments when I "fall in love" with the band...
Like masa Muse it was when Matt Bellamy played the solo on the piano..
Incubus masa Brandon Boyd sang The Warmth.. masa encore gak.. (my first concert in US)
Metallica when they sang One... the moment the gun sounds starts.. and all over again when they played Orion..
After that.. he played Wake Me Up When September Ends.. also acoustic..
And very appropriately, he ended the concert with an acoustic rendition of Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)...
I've always liked it better when concerts end with a fast number but this time the ending was so perfect...
The concert lasted 2 and half hours...
My abdomens hurt coz my hands were up in the air most of the time, I was jumping and shouting like crazy..
The mat salleh couple in front of us were looking behind at me and my cousin soooo many times and laughing (good naturedly) at us coz we were literally screaming our lungs and hearts out..
My cousin was disturbed by their pda though.. kissing and smooching like they're in the comfort of their own bedroom.. i noticed it but it didnt bother me much coz i wasn't paying attention really i mean i couldn't get my eyes of the stage!
Anyway, I managed to sing along to almost all the songs because apart from knowing most of the lyrics by heart, I had my ipod with me so I had the lyrics with me as welll.. I accidently did it during Jason Mraz's concert and I thought it was a really good idea..
It helped that I didn't listen to anything else but GD for a whole week before the day..
And during the whole 5 hr bus ride to Singapore..
The craziest thing was.. I wore heels!! to a rock concert!!! hahaha boleh tak..
well it's actually a wedge with straps around the ankles and its such a comfortable shoe and I could jump up and down like a crazy woman my feet didnt hurt at all..
Anybody who are not fans of GD and don't know any of their songs would've definitely enjoy the concert anyway.
There was so much energy it was crazyyyyy!
BJ was so energetic he ran left to right, up and down.. all the freakin time.. he's almost 40 okay!! and he's soooo small!!  and dia nyanyi sedap!!
Also worth mentioning here is that the sound system was perfect (very important and im very particular about this) and the lightings and pyrotechnics and fireworks and fires were impressive.
In conclusion, it was money well spent and worth every cent!!

The one and only thing I didn't like was he fact that there was no big screen!!!! Thank god our seats were pretty awesome and we had clear view of the stage.

Before I forget, the opening act was by a band called Prima Donna.. who looked British and sounded Aussie.. but according to Micheal Cheang they're an American band.. hahahhh.. they were pretty good themselves.

Ok time for some pictures!

Opening act: Prima Donna

Before Green Day. Full of anticipation.

"Drunk" bunny dancing to YMCA while the stage was being set up for GD

Here they come!!!

Toilet paper gun

Prima Donna came to lepak near our place jap.. photo opp for the boy.

GD lying down on the stage while doing a cover of Hey Jude. Can you see BJ in the middle of the stage?

At the end of American Idiot.

Jesus of Suburbia

After Green Day. Happy and satisfied.

p/s: As I was uploading these pics... I switched on MTV and whaddaya know... MTV World Stage featuring Green Day in Munich was on! The concert was almost exactly the same.. its like I was there all over again... this time with a big screen. heheh... btw I'm on night shift right now.. like you can't guess that by now right...

Busy week at the office.
Finally able to get some peace and rest today.

Asrif and Imran's collabo on Monday night was superb.
Kudos to Flattops for their top notch performance.
I, on the other hand, managed to embarrassed myself in front of a room full of strangers, and some friends.
Deera was awesome as usual.

Feeling jittery for tonight.

Curse

After I woke up from my evening nap yesterday, the first text I read on my phone was "Beyonce postponed"
I laughed like crazy.
It's the funniest thing I've heard all month.
I'm not being spiteful mind you.
With Rihanna and M Nasir (postponed for the second time urghhh) and all.
If I had actually bought Beyonce tickets, I probably would've thought that I'm the curse and subsequently vowed not to buy concert tickets ever again (after hearing the news).
Hmm.. ok no lah that's not gonna happen who am I kidding.
The question now is.. whose concert is gonna happen first... Beyonce, Rihanna or heck, M Nasir?
Bets anyone?

Still on the subject of curses (sort of), its kinda sad that some people still generalize when it comes to who studied where, I'm talking high school here.
And it usually comes from people from other SBPs too.
Furthermore, its particularly hurtful when good friends do that.
Haven't you've known me well enough to still put a stamp on me?
I used to do that too but as I get older, I've had the chance to know more people from different schools for the person that they are and not where they studied, and whatever generalization I made before felt childish and immature.
Although I don't deny that there are valid reasons for some these 'brandings'...
But some are also not true, or should I say apply only to particular individuals rather than the whole group.
Or maybe I'm just being too sensitive..

On a different note, as of yesterday.. I am officially a year older, so this is how it feels like to be 27 eh... (no difference LOL). My birthday resolution is to not lose my temper unnecessarily (have been happening quite frequently nowadays especially at work) .. no promises but I'll try my best. Jenson Button winning the Driver's Championship this year is the perfect birthday present for me.. as it was when Kimi won in 2007. And lastly, I'm all set for next year's vacation yeay! No more where-to-go-on-my-next-trip anxiety...

Bootay Beyonce

Roughly 10 different people have asked me whether I'm going to Beyonce's concert or not, hahaha.
Well, I'm not.
Firstly, I'm no fan of Beyonce..
I have 8000+ songs in my ipod but I only have like 2 of her songs.
Secondly, the concert's gonna be held at Stadium National..
Which is hugeeee!
Thirdly, looking at the ticket prices and the seating arrangement, its no value for money, for someone who doesnt fancy Beyonce.
RM83 tickets are at the third tier of that stadium...so high up!
I won't be able to see anything even with screens..
Next cheapest is RM183, second tier, and I'm not gonna pay that much to see Beyonce in action.
But of course, if I'm offered free tickets, I'll totally be there lah.
Her concert's a definite world class material.
I know a lot of people who's going though...
Have fun watching her shake her ass guys..

This week I watched tons of movies.. Just Friends, Camille, Keith, New In Town, Friends With Money, The Babysitters, Flawless, Major Movie Star, The Other End of The Line, Year One... all chick flicks hahha.. except Flawless...

Conclusion: a mundane week for me. Bleargh.

Rock Chick

Somebody (ehemZ ehemZ) said to me....
"asyik2 bag je..." and then... "macam makcik"
siottt!!!! selamba cop aku makcik..
dude, i just happen to be a really cool person who likes to sew bags.. hahahahhhaa

So anyway, I've been meaning to update my concert resume... so that one day, when I really become a makcik (definitely still a cool one, heheh)... I'll be able to look back at this post and remember....

Actually banyak lagi kalau nak include Malaysian Artists.. but oh well..

Hmm...I think in 2006 I went to the MALINDO concert.. got a bunch of Indo bands yg famous2 gak but I dont remember their names... and Malaysian artists like Ella, Awie, Amy Search etc...

If only this list is valuable in a real resume.. I would've nailed any job instantly.

Upcoming concerts: Rihanna and M. Nasir, both paid for, both postponed. Cehh.

Music: Smile by Lily Allen

I've been meaning to write about the twilight saga and mtv world stage at sunway lagoon, but its been over a week and the moment has passed.. and I've been too busy.. sleeping... and watching The Hills. yeah... The Hills. Now I feel like I shouldve watched Laguna Beach, and I wouldve been able to join Tel's and Dayang's conversations years ago. LOL.

But anyway, in summary, I enjoyed both the book series and the concert very much.
I wonder when the time will come when I will finally say, "I'm too old for concerts"... not too soon I hope.
And.. I'm all for team Jacob. I don't hate Edward though, and I think he and Bella are perfect together.

I'm currently reading Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes. It'll take a while to finish though coz there's like 700 pages and the font is freakishly small and the lines so close together and I'm going at the rate of 1 chapter a day, on average of 3-5 pages a chapter.

I really have nothing intelligent to talk about.
Hmm lemme think..
I did found out recently that doctors have found out that the appendix is useful afterall (thanks to fb and Manluq, time to re-write the text books!).
Basically, its a safe place for good bacterias to take cover when the body (or perut or usus or sth like that) goes through sicknesses like diarhea etc.
After that's over, it'll all come out and do their job, cleaning up the mess I suppose? LOL.

Music: Underdog by Kasabian

I got free passes to the MTV World Stage Concert in Sunway Lagoon later tonight.
Uuu yeahhhh.
It came as a surprise coz I wasn't expecting it, resigned to the fact that I really have no talent in writing mind-blowing, meaningful, witty, clever sentences of less than 20 words before.
Slogans sucks.
Although if by any chance I was expecting free tickets, 2 wouldve be enough.
I got 5.
Tiba2 pressure la pulak nak cari people to go with me.. ahahha
But I managed to round up the people... without much effort lol.
Of course I could depend on my umich clan..
Yeay yeay can't wait for tonight it's like im a vampire thirsty for human-blood..
(Semua concert aku patut pi asyik kena postpone je.. frust gila ok!)

So I guess I have some luck after all. hehehe...

Speaking of vampires, I spent the whole night reading Breaking Dawn..
(I'm on night shift).
I've got sooooooooooo much to say..
I thought Eclipse was already good, but BD was so much better than I expected.
The Twilight Saga deserves its own entry..

Its alerady 6am and the window to take a nap has passed.
I'm gonna be so groggy visiting a new mommy tmrw, gonna get her the most expensive pampers on the market as a present..

Music: What Am I To You? by Norah Jones

I had my first jamming session in 4 years yesterday at a studio in Hartamas, which apparently was where Faizal Tahir jammed the day before coz he had a performance yesterday (info obtained by Deera while waiting for us late comers LOL). It was a good and fun session (to me at least), although I pretty much sucked at everything I played -bass, guitar, drums. I probably would've sucked at playing the tamborine even. I feel bad for Manluq SalahX and Deera for playing like crap. If you're reading this, I promise next time round (if u guys are willing to invite me again hehheh) I'll clock in some practice before the session. So anyway, we played so many songs, like 10 maybe? Should probably cut it down to only a few and concentrate on those few numbers next time, LOL. The jamming studio was pretty awesome for 45 bucks an hour. The smaller one is 30 bucks.

Also, last night the 4 of us (well, 5 including Salahx's wife) was supposed to attend M.Nasir's concert after jamming. But it was postponed to a new date (yet to be announced). What is it with my luck with concerts these days? Rihanna haritu pun postponed jugak, no thanks to Chris Brown. Why the hell haven't they announced anything? New date? Cancelled? Refunds? Its been 3 months and Rihanna is happily going shopping and vacationing (as reported by E!News), don't you remember you owe us a blardy show? hampasss... it's probably partly because of the organizer too coz I heard Pineapple Concerts have been blacklisted due to the recent fuckups with NERD masa Sunburst dulu. Yada yada yada.. Either put on a show or give me my money back! MTV World Stage is going to be held here soon.. all I know is All American Rejects will be performing, and some other local and international artists (I don't remember who, Estranged kot?). Lady Gaga's gonna perform in Singapore, I think her concert's gonna be great, she sings better live than her recorded songs. Her vocal skill is pretty awesome.

I made 3 bags in 2 days. I'll post the pics after the intended recipients gets them. Well, until ALL the intended recipients gets them (sorang dah dapat, you know who you are..) I still have 5 bags or so to sew.. my imaginations are running wild with various designs and patterns.. I wish I could work with more sturdy cloth.. hmm sturdy?? Kain yg keras and tebal sikit laa.. but I can't coz my (electric) sewing machine is not powerful enough. The needle will probably break.. No, it will definitely break. Sewing machines are expensive okay.. the one I'm using now actually cost RM2K. But my aunt (who bought it) sold it to my mother for 500 bucks.. pretty good deal. Second hand and a bit old, but its good. Kalau tak, I would have to sew using the mechanical sewing machine that we have.. I call it machine gede-gede (pronounce: ge and de as in her), coz thats how it sounds like haha. So many people are telling me to sell them. While it is a tempting thing to do, I don't think I'm ready. Firstly, my sewing is still crooked here and there, to the naked eye its probably unnoticeable unless you look really closely, but I would know about it and it won't feel good to get money out of a bad quality work you know. Secondly, I still sew ikut sedap hati, no specific technics and measurements, more like ikut mood aku and whatever feels right at the time. Because of that, no two bags are the same, let alone three, they may be similar but definitely not identical. But I guess its ok bad coz I'm not going for mass production or anything haha. Thirdly, it takes too much effort, must take pictures and put it on the web at what not. Fourthly, will there be anybody who wanna buy my bags? I find it unbelievable. It would be really amazing kalau ada. I guess kalau ada org yg (strongly) insist to pay.. See what happens then. Lastly, I'd probably have to come up with a brand name. KBags? Just plain Kerr? hahaha. macam poyo je.. So this will remain a hobby for now. Not an expensive one too. But I've never made any bags for myself yet. I don't know why. But I think about some people who loves to cook, great at it even, but don't eat the food (makan la sikit), but they are happy to cook for other people. I guess its something like that.

6 days ago I found out that a friend of mine baru di-merisik.. While its normal to hear news of friends getting engaged or married, but this time round its different. You see, this particular friend is someone that I've always viewed as the epitome of a successful, single, independent women (amongst people that I personally know). She's pretty, confident, have a good job, travels a lot, speaks her mind, strong and willful, compassionate, funny, knows how to have fun. So when I heard the news, I was obviously very happy for her (still am and will always be), but at the same time, I have this hollow feeling. Like a member of a group has left to move on to greener pastures. Not like there's a group or anything, its just hypothetical. When asked to impart words of wisdom if any.. all she said to me was, Have Faith. Will do that, my friend. I've long left behind the pressure I've gotten from various people (mostly older people, and they do not include my parents) on the "bila lagi?" question. It doesn't get to me anymore. Hey if my own parents tak pernah bising kat aku, why the hell should anybody else bother? What's with the obsession to know anyway? Even if my parents do say anything, its fine coz they have the right to do so. But nobody else does. But I can't really tell these people to shut it, can I? The only thing my mom ever said to me regarding the matter was.. "when you wanna get married, just tell me". And that was a year ago. Gila cool lah.. My father lagi best, tak pernah tanya not even once hahahaha. Never even mentioned the m word ever. And for all that happens or doesn't happen, its all a part of God's plan and only He knows what's truly best for each and everyone of us. So anyway, my advice is, just wait for the card. Whether it comes or not. Just zip it and wait quietly , ok? LOL.

Before I go waste my time on other stuff, a special shout out to a friend who have selflessly fought for his fellow office colleagues for what is rightfully ours. Thank you very much.. if you're reading this, you know who you are.. :)

Music: Warwick Avenue by Duffy

Night shift.

I was lucky enough to get 2 free tickets to watch Shopaholic on Monday...
The movie was hilarious!!!!
I didn't like the book.. but damn the movie was good..
Laughed to tears..
At one point I cried.. but then at the same time I remembered the previous scene yg lawak gila babi.. so I was laughing and crying at the same time!
Felt so weird.. felt so good!!
I love chick flicks... and watching it for free makes it even better!

Sunburst was best laa gak.. banyak gila booth this time round...
ada f1 punya area got ferrari f1 car and games and rave disco (kinda liked it hahaha best gak rave nih) in the booth and f1 simulator and all the cool stuff..
there's so many food stalls and tables & chairs mmg macam mamak stall kat situ.. hrc pun bukak booth ok! jual food lah.. not merchandise..
kat junk magazine's booth ada console and they were playing guitar hero.. macam best gak aaa ada guitar, bass and drums.. and i got free junk magazine.

and thennnn.. ada silent disco!! ada stage with 4 dj's complete with turn tables and stuff..
org beratur panjang gila to get into the silent disco area.... and of course everybody was wearing headphones and the djs as well.. they were dancing but its all silent all around so macam lawak gila aaa for the onlookers.. it was so funny!!! and then suddenly i guess the dj said something and tiba2 semua org jerit sama2... hahahahahha kelakar gila okay...

sampai2 sana pukul 9pm.. butterfingers tgh perform at one of the stages..
then kitorang jalan2 see all the booth.. then tgk skye.. then tgk nerd for like 10 minutes.. didnt know any of his songs though hahaha.. i was more interested to see naturally 7.. so left nerd's stage.. n7 mmg gempak gila lah acapella group but they can make all kinds of sounds like drum, guitar, trumpet, flute, turntables, bass and macam2 lagi.. awesome gila.

right after that pi tgk korn.. head banging la sikit2 but we stood way at the back lah.. but not bad.. Korn mencarut banyak gila i wont be surprised if diorang kena ban lepas nih ahhahah.. but too bad to hear about thath nerd thingy with the authorities.. kinda suck lah.. patutnya sunburst organizers lah yg get the permit for them right? oh yeah erykah badu cancelled.. thank god! kalau tak Korn perform like 12.30am and aku tak larat kot nak tunggu sampai lambat camtu...

After sunburst, NERD telah ditahan oleh Malaysian authorities for not having a permit to perform here... fearing they'd face the same problem in Bandung (they have a performance there after Sunburst), they cancelled it, mere hours before they were supposed to perform.. Organizers yg handle event kat Bandung tu pissed off gila..
NERD said this has never happened to them before.. aren't the sunburst organizers supposed to handle this permit thingy? i dunnno.. but its so embarrasing for Malaysia.. I think our country is starting to have a bad rep in the Hollywood world.. remember Mariah Carey yg bengang ada dress code so she wore just one outfit during her entire concert here a few years back? what about Beyonce yg moved her concert to Indonesia terus.. Linkin Park (was it them? can't remember) yg kena sound sbb pakai shorts... shorts!!! god knows what else.. im sure there's more..

Music: Floyd by Korn

Weekend plans..
Karaoke
Weddings
SunburstKL
Reunion meeting
MPH clearance sale (maybe)
Finish a book (hopefully)

Not as excited about sunburst as I was last year (got Incubus okkk)
Coldplay proved too expensive to bring in (or so said the organizers)
Korn pun ok sebenarnya.. I have 10 of their songs in my ipod..
listening to them now.. aku suka gak, ada melody and boleh headbanging juga..
lama dah tak head bang.. my favorite is Here To Stay.. the most well known Korn hit is Freak on a Leash of course..
and from a Jonathan Davis interview I read..
they're gonna play hit songs.. coz this is the first time they're performing in Malaysia.. so that's cool.. lagu baru aku tak tau langsung aa..
I'm interested to see Naturally 7 actually..
haven't heard of the band prior to sunburst..
they're an acapella group.. and they bring it to a whole new level kind-of..
according to an article in the papers today lah..
making percussion and turntable and whatever background music u can think of without any real instruments.. should be interesting..

I've been trying to get in the mood to read again..
it's been many months since i've read one..
and it finally came, in a very surprising way actually.
was watching an episode of CSI yesterday.. latest season..
I think its Grissom's last episode..
At the end of the episode after they solved the serial killer case..
Hodges was telling Grissom that its a big mistake to leave CSI..
that the CSIs have a responsibility to catch bad guys and its not yet time to leave they are great people doing a great job bla bla bla..
and then Hodges said...
"Who was Watson without Sherlock Holmes?"
to which Grissom replied..
"Watson was a genius in his own way"
and weirdly enough, aku terus terasa macam nak baca buku hahaha
so now im currently reading Mark Haddon's A Spot of Bother..
totally different style from that dog book he wrote..
a few chapters in, so far so good i like it.

>Came back quarter past 3am last night after watching Watchmen..
The movie was almost 3 hours..
I can't decide if i like or hate that movie.. hahaha
I think I like it kot..

>This blog perfectly described Jason Mraz's concert..
Except the part about the sound system..
It was pretty good from where I sat/stood..

http://smalltimetraveller.wordpress.com/2009/03/06/sorry-i-cant-hear-you-with-all-the-mraz-going-on/

Music: Bye Bye by Mariah Carey

Jason Mraz's concert was awesome lahhh..
He sang all the hit songs
You & I Both
The Remedy
Lucky
I'm Yours.

also some of my favorites off the 3rd album
Live High
Butterfly
Beautiful Mess

and some other songs yg okay jugakk like No Stopping Us.
but too bad he didnt sing Curbside Prophet ngan Sleep All Day..
would've made the concert perfect..

For RM88 tickets, I had really a good view of the stage..
Much better than the RM138 ones yg berdiri on the floor which was just 2 feet away from me and yet I was elevated..
Big screens on both sides of the stage and it was right in front of me..
So all in all, very the good!
Brought out my ipod to sing along to some of the songs yg aku tak ingat lyrics hahah..
Recorded some vids but boleh dengar suara aku je laa yg menyanyi ahahaha..

Jason Mraz is a really good entertainer..
He talked a lot and interacted with the audience..
For encore he wore a I Heart KL tshirt that one of the Random Acts people gave him.
those people must be so proud!!

Only thing I didnt like was the singer yg duet Lucky ngan dia..
dah laa keluar lambat, he started singing anyway coz takkan la nak make the audience wait kan.. then she came on stage in the middle of the song..
Suara tak sedap, tak kuat, and she didnt have good rapport with Mraz on stage..
Stood a step back from Mraz and doesn't feel like a duet..
Tu je lah..

Full house gila okay kat stadium negara..
Muse pun tak penuh camtu..

Took some pictures with my new handphone tapi tak cantik sangat lah hahaha
Here it is.

Tag- 16 Random Things You (Don't) want to know about me

Directions: Once you’ve been tagged, you have to write a blog/Facebook note with 16 random things, facts, habits or goals about you. At the end choose 16 people to be tagged, listing their names and why you chose them. Don’t forget to leave them a comment or tag them in your note to read this.

I'm doing this coz Lana tagged me.. these are more like 'random things that you might not know about me' lol. I certainly don't know what people want or don't want to know about me. I'm wondering why it has to be 16 though!

1. Since I was a kid, I've always wanted to learn to play the piano, but I never got the chance. I finally took my first ever piano class in my final semester in senior year in Umich for 2 credits, which I aced yeay (well, think grade 1). But I haven't continued with any piano lessons since. One day.. I definitely will though, age is no excuse!

2. I wrap all my story books as soon as I buy them. Its like an obsession. Whenever I get word of a good book and I know I can borrow it from a friend who has already bought it, I won't. I need to own it myself.

3. If/when I have lots and lots of money, I will definitely buy a Volvo, first. Then a truck, at the moment I'm so into Toyota Hilux. I also dream of owning a big bike, although I don't know how to ride one.

4. My right eye has a blurred vision due to a scar I got from an accident when I was a kid. If I cover my left eye and just look with my right, I won't be able to read a newspaper at an arm's length.

5. I don't like hosting get-together/makan2 because I had a bad experience doing it sometime in 2001.

6. I have a few 'dream jobs' that, obviously, has nothing to do with engineering. Initially, I wanted to be an architect, but all the scholarships that I got only offered engineering/medic. Another dream, but still realistic job that I wish I could do is something that has to do with arts or music. Like stage plays or orchestras. And lastly, I want to be a rockstar, which is totally not possible lol.

7. There is an unidentified foreign object around the area of my left shoulder blade the size of a small pebble that has been there since I can remember.

8. I wish I could draw. Its a really awesome talent to have. I have a sketch book that I draw anime characters in my spare time but they're nothing short of bad lol.

9. I always start walking or entering into a building/room/area with my right leg first, except when going into a toilet. Its a conscious effort when I started doing this when I was a kid, but now its become a habit.

10. During a medical checkup required by tkc after I accepted their admission offer, the doctor said that I had bronchitis and was prescribed some ubat to take for like 2 months. When my medical checkup was finally approved later, it was the last day to submit it to the school and my father sent my medical report by 1-day courier. Basically, aku almost tak masuk tkc I guess.

11. Driving a stick-shift makes me feel good.

12. I have a protruding bone on my right hand that, according to a doctor friend of mine, was not natural and probably happened when I hit a hard object when I was a kid when the bone was still fragile/growing. And guess what, that was exactly what happened, I suspected it, but my friend confirmed it, and I didn't even show her my hand. She just noticed.

13. There are roughly 100 tshirts in my closet, 90% of which were bought when I was in the states.

14. The ultimate vacation spot for me would be Japan. And the perfect time to go there is when I have enough money to spend at least 1 month in Japan. It has to be during summer, and I definitely have to attend at least one concert while I'm there.

15. My all-time favorite movie is Almost Famous.

16. I'm now going to attempt to list all the bands/artists that I've watched perform live. Count for me...
-metallica
-limp bizkit
-linkin park

I want David to win! Hahahahha ok both Davids are finalists, idiot.
I like both of them!

Marie Digby Live in KL
---------------------------

So, of course I went to see her.
Free show at One Utama 8pm last Wednesday
Plus its HER!
Swapped shifts with my colleague, as I was supposed to work evening shift.
I almost cancelled cause at the same time there was a trip to this power station in PD to witness something.. and I wanted to go.
After some thinking.. I said to myself..
Nahhhh.. I can go to power stations anytime and this is probably the only time that Marie's coming to KL (to do a free show, that is).

Sampai2 OU... ramai gila org okayyyy.
I didn't expect that.
Although I think half the people there didn't really know who she was and knew none of her songs, except her cover version of Rihanna's Umbrella.

View from 3rd Floor

Anyway, searched high and low, literally, for a good spot but to no avail.
In the end, we decided to hang around this small make shift room behind the stage.
Clearly, Marie was in there, or so we thought.
After some few minutes, suddenly there were shouts and surprise, surprise, Marie was coming down the escalator behind the stage..
Surrounded by 4 Men in Blacks aka bodyguards, very tall, wearing suits and black shoes and all.
And Marie was soooo cantik and pretty omg she was soooo hot!
Just like in the youtube vids.. even better actually..
And then she was led by the MIBs into the small room.
Then we walked around in search (again) for a good spot to watch her performance.
I finally found a perfect place, given the circumstances.
After some singing by some unknowns and endless gibberish by the emcees,
Marie finally came on stage.
And it was obvious that she was shocked with the number of people that turned up.
Her performance was okay..
'Okay' because the audience were noisy and I couldn't properly listen to her sing.
She played the acoustic guitar and the piano and there was another guy accompanying her.
I only recognized a few songs though.
She sang Fool and Say It Again (on guitar) and Stupid For You (on piano).
She said something about her dog before singing Stupid For You.. only people who saw her youtube vid should understand why!
And of course, she sang Umbrella.

View from my 'perfect' spot. I was standing on a sofa.

And then after some time, org sebelah (who were also standing on a sofa) kena sound dengan pak guard, so I stepped down from mine and moved to another location.
By this time, the crowd was already a little dispersed so I was able to get closer to the stage.

Her guitar so nice! I like.

After the show was over, she and her MIBs went to the GAP store for an autograph session.
Again, ramai org cam gila, and there this one guy suggested to go hang out at the other entrance to the GAP store.
So we went but it was locked and grilled, but we decided to wait there anyway assuming its where Marie's gonna exit.
Ate sushi courtesy of Dy (thank youuuuu lapar gila masa tu).
After god knows how long, we were bored waiting, the guy who suggested to wait there was long gone, there were only 5 of us there.
Some went to check out what's going on in front.
It seems that there was almost nobody left except photographers (mostly) and like 10-15 others.
So I bought her CD and went in to get her autograph.
To tell you the truth, I don't excited about getting autographs of famous ppl.
But I was excited to get to see her up close, and shake her hands and talk for a bit.
Well, the only thing I said then was, 'can I take a picture with you?'
But the super rude MIBs said no..
The 4 of them was standing around the table that Marie was sitting at.
It was as if Marie was the President of United States.
Dude, give her some space lahh.

Some up close shots that I managed to snap before the MIBs shooed me away. Retards.

After that, we went back to our spot behind the GAP store, and whaddaya know.. it wasn't locked anymore.
Confirm lah dia exit kat situ.
After 15 minutes or so, she came out with those blardy MIBs.
There were so little of us, again, we asked if we could take a pic with her, but the rude MIBs said no and said she wants to go home.
Who the f hell are you to say what she wants or dont want?..
Idiots..
But anyway, go here to see the vid taken (by Dy's bro) of the whole exit ordeal..

I wanted to stop so badly !! I was warned by everyone not to stop no matter what but it's not in my nature !! I would stay there for two days if i could to say hi to everybody. The organizers knew that if I had my way, I would have missed my flight back home. When I left there.. they put me in a van and I went directly to the airport. But please know that , that day was one of the happiest of my life and I am so grateful I had the chance to perform for you guys :)

Hehehehe... awesome! Marie so nice of you to drop a comment..
And it was 11.30-ish by the time I reached home.
It was a very satisfying night indeed, just marred by the MIBs who were total assholes.. Marie, please don't ever hire these people ever again!!
To think I'd go visit a power station instead!.. lol

Karnival Sukan TNB 2008
-------------------------------
Ahhh.. ceritanya begini..
A few weeks ago I went for selection for futsal women's team.
They were looking for 8 ppl, and at least 2 players have to be executives.
There were 3 execs who came for the selection, and needless to say..
I wasn't selected.. wahahahhaha..
Then on Wednesday, I found out that one the girls on the team injured herself (terpeleot kat curb).
On Thursday, I got word that I was asked to replace this injured girl..
lucky!
So found someone to take my shift at work, and off I went to Uniten.
Crazy lah.. there were so many TNB people who came from all over Malaysia, around 800 ppl.
The teams were divided into Zon Utara, Timur, Selatan and Metro.
I represented Zon Metro, obviously.
My team mates were like super skilled futsal players lah.
Half of them were ex hockey players for Malaysia.
I was, essentially, a reserve, the player they wouldn't want to send into the field unless we were already leading by at least 2-0.. hahahaha
Yes... I was that player.. ahhaha..
But I guess its understandable, cause I was clearly the least skilled of the whole bunch, and I didn't even attend practices since I wasn't selected initially.
But still I got to play in all the games which was very thoughtful and kind of the coach.
Anyway it was fun playing in a tournament after so long, and we won first place yeahooo.
There were loads of freebies.
And we got pocket money too. Macam masa zaman Sukom pulak.
Other games contested were netball, bowling, road relay 1.4km, golf, ping pong, badminton, tarik tali and karom.
Hmm.. I didn't take any pictures though.

Introducing, my kitty cats
-------------------------------
