My first blogging award!
Thanks
Hope!
Here are 10 tidbits about me:
1. I grew up on a farm.
We had cows, chickens, a plethora (love that word) of cats and always a faithful farm dog. We had hogs for awhile too. We grew wheat and alfalfa. The pastures were my play land. My view was of prairie grass, sunflowers and big blue sky. There were more cows than people. I've never driven a tractor or milked a cow, but I did help butcher the chickens each year. I liked plucking the feathers!
2. I grew up in a (very) small town.
There were about 40 people in my town. We had a Catholic church, gas station, post office and small grocery store. My Grandparents ran the post office and grocery store for a number of years. (We moved to town when I was ten, but we still farmed.) There were 14 students in my senior class. Everyone knew everyone
well and some of us were related too. It was nice!

3. Hunting was a normal part of my childhood.
I don't know how to shoot a gun but my Dad, uncles, cousins, and guy friends were all hunters. I've eaten pheasant, quail, dove, deer, crawdads, squirrel,
Rocky Mountain oysters and sampled rattlesnake. I especially enjoyed coon hunting with my Dad. Yep, I love

4. I love to read.
Books have been a love of mine since 4th grade. I remember my oldest sister reading fairy tales and making up stories. I clung to every word. As soon as I could, my nose was in a book. It is one of my favorite past times. I love libraries. Really. I get excited every time I enter one. I love the smell of books and the feeling of the paper between my fingers. Math is not my thing. Give me a word game and I'm happy, happy, happy.
5. I enjoy traveling.
I've always enjoyed seeing new places. I dream of visiting new places and exploring different cultures. I like watching travel shows. Road trips are fun. I love being in the passenger seat so I can watch the scenery. I'm definitely a "Driving Miss Daisy" type. I study maps too.

This is harder than I thought.
Hmmmmm....
6. Beverages.
I drink a lot of coffee. I look forward to it every morning. Dark roast with half and half. I love my iced tea (unsweetened) with lemon. I drink a lot of water. I do not like beer and haven't learned to appreciate wine. I especially like hot drinks - year round in fact. My favorite tea is
Sleepy Time Tea. I've also been known to drink hot water with lemon.
7. Desserts & Comfort Food.
Chocolate. Milk chocolate please. Candy, pies, cookies, and cake are just okay. Chocolate makes everything better. Enough said.
Potatoes. Baked, fried, mashed.....yum. And fried chicken - heavenly. And chocolate.
8. How I Met My Husband.
He was working in the campus bookstore. I called him the "Tom Cruise" look-alike. A friend introduced us days before the school year ended. We tossed a Frisbee. The end. But wait......the next Fall when my parents were dropping me off at my dorm there HE was unloading the trunk of his car. My heart swooned. I said to my parents, "That is the man I am going to marry!" My mom said, "What's his name?" I replied, "I think it is Ed." That was August. Our first date was in October. We've been married 20 years!
9. Primary Love Language.
10. Strange but True.
In college I studied in Austria for a semester. I traveled with a group of friends to Rome for Holy Week. Blessed John Paul II was Pope. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! On Good Friday we were seated in St. Peter's Basilica. It was the Veneration of the Cross. I had an inside main aisle seat. Pope John Paul II stopped right beside me and venerated the Cross. It still brings me to tears. So beautiful. But then this story takes a weird turn. Shortly after this a panicked man in the seat in front of me stood up.
It was surreal. It was REAL.
Then I stood up.
I was a Resident Assistant in my dorm and had just been trained in CPR. I put my arms around him and performed the
Heimlich Maneuver. Was it courage? Was it insanity? Was it the Holy Spirit?
Something like a cough drop or piece of hard candy popped out. Men in suits (not Swiss Guards) came running to the disturbance. It was awkward. It's a blur now. After the Good Friday service this man approached me and was smiling hugely. He kept saying Grazie, Grazie, Grazie! I spoke no Italian. He spoke no English. Weird. Yep. But it happened.
I don't know many bloggers but I hope sweet
