Children Are a Blessing

Thanking God today for our children!
With the Right to Life March and Roe vs. Wade Anniversary just behind us,
the sanctity of life has been on my mind.
I feel so blessed to have each of our children.
I wish more couples felt the support to be open to one more soul.

Having children - 1 or 10 or more is strenuous.
It's a big responsibility, yep!
But when you consider the bigger, eternal picture.........

"How can there be too many children?
That is like saying there are too many flowers."
~Mother Theresa

What Kind of Coffee Are You?

I couldn't resists this!
I do like my coffee with cream, though!

You Are a Black Coffee

At your best, you are: low maintenance, friendly, and adaptable

At your worst, you are: grumpy and stressed

You drink coffee when: you can get your hands on it

Your caffeine addiction level: high

Hidden But Not Forgotten

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

Psalm 139: 13-16

Winter Village

Before Dan left for college, we squeezed in our tradition of creating graham cracker houses.

Some of us focused on structure.

Others, were more interested in decorating.

And then there were those who simply got lost in the icing.

January

Ordinary time.  It really is.  January is a quiet month.  The decorations are put away.  No more parties.  It is peaceful and a little sobering.  I haven't been able to load pictures since Epiphany.  Hmmmmm?  Blogging isn't as much fun without pictures.  But this is a place to record thoughts and memories anyway!

We were sad to see our oldest go back to college.  It is a bittersweet pain that is another step in this journey of motherhood.  We loved all being under one roof again.  It is difficult to mother when you are no longer physically present to help problem solve or comfort.  Growth.  Stretching for mother and child.  After sending a child away, my thoughts have shifted to, "Please Lord keep them safe but most especially keep them close to you."  Nothing else really matters, does it?

We had very warm weather recently which kept us outside more than usual.  But now it is back to normal January.  Cold and gray.  Those winter blahs stay away when I can get outside and soak up some vitamin D.  I'm reminding myself that humor and some physical exercise really does lift the spirit.

The 21 Day Relationship Challenge

Ha-I just posted that I had no 2013 Resolutions and then found this in my inbox.
I forgot I signed up!

Sounds like bite-size challenges that will be fun.

New Year's Resolutions

I didn't make any Resolutions for 2013.  I love lists just for the sake of lists.  Okay, I admit I wrote some stuff down and then promptly threw the paper in the garbage.  I gave up Resolutions for 2013!   Aaaaaahhhhhhh......I had no idea how peaceful that would feel not to mention the giggle it would give me because I think I am getting away with something.  Silly, but we all already know what we "need" to do; it's just a matter of time until we are ready to do it!

Happy Feast of the Epiphany

"And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News."
2 Timothy 1:10
