Found in the Dairy Aisle

Grace has been having fun taking care of her baby brother.
He loves riding in this child-sized grocery cart.
When I asked her what aisle this little delectable was found in,
she replied, "With the milk and eggs."

This got me to thinking about how having a baby in the house has been a "staple" for a lot of years for our family. Some day we will miss having the sweetness of a little one to snuggle, giggle with and watch in amazement as they discover the world!

Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real

~Pretty~

The master bedroom and closet got a good cleaning this week.
Just making the bed each day makes such a difference!

The quilt my mom made for us - pretty!

A trip to the library.
Some reading material for everyone - happy!

~Funny~

J.P. loves wearing this hat - funny!

~Real~

Our oldest only has a few weeks left at home before we take him to college.
We are excited for him and a little unsure of what this will be like for all of us.
He and I have gone shopping a couple times this week and his pile is growing.
Buying the small (hard to do since we biggie size everything)
bottle of detergent was painful for me.
I can't imagine not doing his laundry (strange, I know).
I will miss hugging him goodnight
and chatting a bit with him before we all tuck in for the night.
It will be strange not having everyone under the same roof.

We will really miss him!

We Love Chikin!

We had a blast at Cow Appreciation Day!

The manager was a bit surprised to see our herd
but quickly recovered and took great care of us.

Chik-Fil-A is a favorite of ours and who doesn't love FREE chikin?

Silly, goofy and YUMMY!

This was our first cow appreciation day
and it's definitely going to be on our calendar next summer!

Zucchini Squash Packets

A friend recently gifted us with some yummy produce from her garden.
This zucchini and squash were so pretty just sitting on the counter.

I had been looking up a variety of recipes featuring these summer veggies.
Well, the power went out and we were just starting dinner so.......
on a whim, I sliced these big boys up and tossed them into two layers of foil
with some garlic, butter and Parmesan cheese.

My husband put them on the grill out of direct heat and let them steam.

The veggies came out crisp tender and delicious!

We added extra Parmesan cheese for serving.

Even some of the kids went back for seconds!

We played outside in the natural light - free from all screens.
It was a peaceful evening.

Wish I had some pictures of our candle light dinner of
burgers, sausages, beans, corn and zucchini squash packets.

We made some fun memories
and thankfully the electricity came back on just before bedtime.

Great and Noble Tasks

I long to accomplish a great and noble task,
but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble.

"To be Queen Elizabeth within a definite area, deciding sales, banquets, labours, and holidays; to be Whitely within a certain area, providing toys, boots, cakes and books; to be Aristotle within a certain area, teaching morals, manners, theology, and hygiene; I can imagine how this can exhaust the mind, but I cannot imagine how it could narrow it. How can it be a large career to tell other people about the Rule of Three, and a small career to tell one’s own children about the universe? How can it be broad to be the same thing to everyone and narrow to be everything to someone? No, a woman’s function is laborious, but because it is gigantic, not because it is minute."

Where's the Baby?

"Where's the baby?"

That's the frequent question around our house these days.
Keeping him safe keeps us on our toes.
Our little bundle of joy is on the go!

I recently found him in the bathroom discovering the joys of toilet paper rolls.
The rest of the pictures are some of his favorite activities.

Who needs toys?

At nine months, he is on the move and a wiggly bundle of energy.
Dressing him is an adventure.

If they would just let me out!

I love it when they leave the gate open!

This cupboard clearly needs some rearranging.

Metal + hardwood = NOISE!

These things roll and I can chase them!

Mommy took me for a drive so she can rest.

Favorite Love Song

I'm joining Betty Beguiles for a Love Song Link-Up!

This is my all time favorite.
My husband and I danced to it on our wedding day.
