Prang - mystry
Most mornings I see a couple of 'traffic incidents' during my 20 km drive into work.
Seldom do I see one as perplexing as this. This was the scene at 8am at our nearest traffic lights.

It really does look like the gentleman in the silver SUV was traveling at some speed down the wrong side of the road before 'meeting' the oncomming traffic.
Could such a thing be possible?

Squashed Balls
Annual squash ball japes.
Lisa learns the art of the 'Sunilk Look'. Is she or isn't she? While Ian thrashes his air guitar (or at least that's what he told us he was doing).

Aerosmith - bit of a let down
It had all the makings of a fantastic evening, Aerosmith, grass, warm, a few malted beverages and, of course, pies.......
The organisers, however, had other plans. Poor venue design and chronic queues for the malted beverages. Apparently they had ideas that a few thousand thirsty souls were going to get all of their sustenance they missed the whole concert whilst queuing for a drink!
Oh well. Mr Tyler was in fine voice. Though we did get worried that he was going to be blown away - let's say 'rather twig like'. That said, he can still bark out a good tune (sorry).

That'll be Steve on the right....errrr... I think....
Though some people still managed to survive.

Criminals!
In Abu Dhabi even getting a speeding ticket can be exciting! You can go on line, type in your details and find out if you've been naughty.
Just recently we found out that they have started deploying 'secret cameras'. It's just not cricket! So today we all checked our status and found that the cameras must be faulty.
Here are piccys of 3 naughty speedsters - guess who was going fastest?

colour blind
Abu Dhabi seems to be getting an increasing number of really horrid car colours.
Generally I see them while I'm driving so am unable to take a photo, but I saw this one today outside our local supermarket.
It seams the bigger and more expensive the car, the worst the taste!

ex-expats stop over
Having had a couple of years where more people seem to be leaving than arriving (or am I just getting very bad at making new friends), it was only a matter of time that some of these ex-abu dhabians would return - even if it was just for a short visit.

So everyone gets together for brunch at the revolving restaurant...............
where we catch up with Adam and Ger while drinking unlimited fizz......
while watching the ever changing Abu Dhabi skyline (in more ways than one)........
and spying on Sarah and Gordon's roof terrace.......
eventually brunch is over so we all head to PJ's to continue our discussions......
although the youngest member of the party, Gabriel decides the fizz has gone to his head and he needs to re-hydrate.....
not so the rest of us........

and so its all starts again...
I have not added anything to this blog for ages as I realised that all you need to do was re-read from the beginning to find out what we are up to now!

In April 2006 we went to the Dive ball, so in April 2007 there we were again.....

When Britannia Ruled the Waves
During our recent 'jaunt' to UKsville we were joined by the aged P's and took a trip down to see the SS Great Britain. All sparkly on top and rather holey below!

The pointy end.

Henry gets a 'proper' haircut! Get it?

Oh to be in England now that April's there....
I've just had two glorious weeks in England, where the sun shone everyday. The main reason for going back was to go to my cousin Alison's wedding in Bristol so here are the requisite photos.

Straighten Up!
This is unbelivable! The powers that be have decived that the current UAE coastline is 'too irregular for effective planning' therefore it has been decidee to 'straighten it out! Someone has quite literally taken a ruler, joined the tops of the islands and they are simply going to 'fill it in'! Apparently this procedure will facilitate planning, improve communications, bring the coastline into line with the other perfectly straight borders between Oman and Saudi and increase the amount of land available for development. Like we don't have enough already!

Meet the lodger

This dove set up home a week or so ago. We haven't seen her once leave the nest, I think she is too afraid to in case it falls apart while she's gone.
It looks like it might be a while before we can play basketball again.

Pregnency - the unconscious disease

There are 55,000 Britons living in the UAE not to mention Americans, Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders and all other English speaking peoples, yet signs continue to amuse me by their poor English. I thought this example was worthy of a blog.
